FYI RE: "Double Dipping"

You broke the rules, not impressive!

MMmmm, no. No rules were broken. We were given KTTW cards at check-in by the cm at AKL who said that since the bugs were not out of the FP+ system yet, they wanted to make sure we had a back up. I asked if we could use them for regular fastpasses and she said, "yes, please do" and added something to the effect of us having paid for the same resort experience as everyone else and regular fastpasses are a part of that. The FP+ testing experience is a perk, kind of like getting extra time with a character or like the magical experiences during YOMD.

If you have concrete (not anecdotal) evidence of rules having been broken I'd love to see it.

Not sure why people think that those doing testing should not be allowed to use services that they paid for, regular fastpasses included.

we were at Animal Kingdom this morning having entered the park using our Magic Bands, we could not pull paper fast passes using our plastic tickets, we got a nonvalid ticket saying we had not used that card to enter the park. (we tried at Dinosaur and Expedition Everest). However yesterday at Epcot we were able to enter with our bands and use our plastic cards to pull paper Test Track fast passes.

Did something change overnight or is it just AK that has this set up?

Another question, considering the message we received do you think that we might be able to use the plastic tickets for entry to a park that we don't have set up for fp+ so that we can pull paper ones while in that park (for example if we plan to hop to a different park later and have our fp+'s set up for that park)

I have heard from many posters that AK no longer allows double-dipping. Invalid FP- tickets come out and say the card was not used to enter the park. It is only AK I think right now, but I assume they will move in the next few weeks to do it to all of the parks.

Cheating? I have been able to get 4 or 5 or even 6 in a day with careful planning. We have also been able to get an FP for TSM, ride the ride in the standby, ride via the FP and get ANOTHER FP for TSM and ride a 3rd time!

If I can't double dip I'd probably SKIP FP+ all together as I can get FP- to work out MUCH better in my favor. 3 FPs and only for ONE park per day is a crock.

Please- explain to me how it's 'fair' for those testing the system to only have access to 3 FPs per day all in 1 park. Makes the park hoppers useless?! :confused3

I absolutely will be "double dipping." I switched to Pop to get to test these new bands, but I have heard people have had some problems with them. If I did not get regular fp too, I would not be eager to try them out.

I can tell you that I have already spent over an hour on the phone with WDW over the course of three phone calls getting issues worked out with the fast pass + and linking reservations..... So yeah, I don't feel a bit bad about the extra fp or two I will probably get.

Talk about a first world problem. Hard to believe a temporary ability to double dip on fastpasses could cause such a stink.

IMO, I see no issue with MB/FP+ testers having simultaneous use of paper FP that all guests get. Testers are helping Disney work through all of the issues so that the eventual launch can come as soon as possible and be as smooth as possible. It's not going to be like that forever and sounds like they are already changing things to be final state at AK. It's only a matter of time now until double dipping will be a thing of the past at all parks.

I think that if they give you both the Magic Band and the KTTW card, why not use them both? It isn't fair that the people with Magic Bands only get 3. Also what about those parties that are split with their fastpass + options and still want to do stuff together but not have to wait forever? And if you decided to split your time between two parks you can only use it at one while people without Magic Bands can get them at both.

We don't go until the 28th October and I'm goi g to be sooooo gutted if they have worked out the double dipping kink!
We have used a GAC for the past nearly 10 years and are already majorly dreading the fact it's changed to do hardly any accommodations but FP access with a wait time for each ride so getting only 3 passes with the MB for 1 park is going to be simply awful!

Interesting thread in view of the GAC abuse threads. Gac gaming bad. Fastpass gaming good.

Hardly gaming when Disney is telling people to do it and advertises it when choosing FP + - we are comparing FP usage to disabilities now? Super.

How on earth ANYONE can even begin to compare getting an extra 2 or 3 FPs, which are not even extra- to PAYING a disabled person to get FOTL is beyond RIDICULOUS. If you can't see the difference- you are beyond hope.

Fairness and unfairness aside, Disney is testing Magic bands because they want real data. If you are "double dipping," you are obscuring the data. Their test results are no longer accurate when you're using both systems.

It's totally fair. We used to get about 6 or 7 regular fp per day until this trip when we had FP+. This time we used 3 FP+ and 3 regular fastpasses. I don't think it limited anyone's ability to uses FP. VP

Exactly. 3 FP+ per day and only one park is not the same as getting all the FP you can get in more than one park. What's the point of hopping?

Super. Disney tells people to get GAC and advertises them.

Have a Disney day.

Of course they do... For people WITH disabilities... In the same vein that they have handicap parking for handicap people. How is getting a GAC when you don't have a disability the same thing as getting FP/FP+?

Please, enlighten me.

I don't get it? GACs are only for people needing extra help. The problem people have with abusing GACs is only about those that take advantage of GAC's who don't need them or use them to get friends/relatives on a ride when the person who actually needs the GAC isn't even riding. Not many people are bothered by a person who truly needs a GAC using it in the manor prescribed.

FP+ is not supposed to be a hindrance. If the people who can not use FP+ are getting 6 FPs a day, then it is only fair that the people who are using it can get the same amount.

That said, using an old card to get extra fastpasses during this time is completely uncool.

They told us to use both systems. Just sayin'.

Disney is simply rolling out these magicbands. I don't believe they are testing any type of "real data" at all. Especially when resorts are giving you KTTW cards and telling you, you have access to legacy fastpass machines. They are just trying to figure out the kinks in the magicbands.

When we tested last month, my daughter's band never worked, no matter how many times we ended up at our resort or guest relations because of it. Finally they just took it away permanently for "testing purposes".

Has anyone who has gotten upset about double-dipping actually had a chance to test? I'm guessing not. It has been awesome, but also a bit of work. there are packages to receive, letters that show up from UPS repeatedly, things to do online, multiple email messages that come that tell you you haven't done 6 of your 12 online things yet even though you have done them all, and then sometimes bands don't work, FP don't show up, etc.

Once they get the kinks out, it is just going to be spectacular (and overall I'd say the experience was definitely positive) but don't think for a second that you are being cheated out of something. We are paying guests and get to use whatever paying guests get to use. We are also testing, and since testing can be a huge pain in the rear, there are some small tokens that make it worth our while. Who would bother testing if there wasn't some sort of perk??

I think they are allowing the double dipping right now because they are only giving 3 FP+ (just to test the system). I seriously doubt it will stay at only 3 when it goes fully live. Will probably be more like 3 advanced bookings and then you can get more as you use one up.

To the posters saying it is unfair, you are right. To make it more fair they should also limit the KTTW to only getting 3 FP per day. That way everyone gets 3 and only 3. But since KTTW could get many more then 3, they let the testers use them too.

You have GOT to be kidding. These two things are not even in the same ballpark.

I was asked to "test" the MBs, I received KTTW cards upon check-in at AKL CL, and I was TOLD by CMs that I could use my KTTW cards as back-up for any malfunctioning MB issues (ours malfunctioned at various TS restaurants throughout the trip, so it was a darn good thing we had the KYTW cards) and for paper FP.

We used our 3 FP+ (4 in MK) per day and pulled a few extra FP with the KTTW cards when necessary. Hardly "gaming" the system. Good grief.
