Jessa Duggar (of the Duggar Family) is courting

Almost everything you have written here is false. The girls, as well as the boys, are encouraged to follow their dreams. The whole family has traveled the world, the older girls are first responders, as well as one training to be a midwife, and one a dula. One of the girls wants to be a teacher. I have no idea where you people get your info from, but it is unbelievable how you all go on spreading your untruths!

they have actually said on the show that the only "profession" that would be ok for the girls is a nurse. i'm pretty sure the girls aren't actual "first responders" they drive the truck if anything.

they can WANT to be teachers and doctors all they want, but it'll never happen in reality.

i mean just last season Jinger made mention that she wanted to move to NYC and a few scenes later we hear Michelle saying "oh she didn't mean that. she just meant she wants to live somewhere close to a Walmart" ...i'm pretty sure the girl said she wanted to live in NYC but the parents won't allow that. especially not alone.

i also found it interesting that one of their older sons was allowed to go to some sort of training camp ALONE last season but none of the girls are allowed to be alone...ever.

Short bus comment? That's what some are calling good behavior and integrity?

i couldn't believe it when i read it. of all people....this family claims to teach love and acceptance and then he goes and makes a joke about "short buses"??

he posted the photo of buses with the caption "this school only has short buses #special #onlyinSC" then of course deleted it once people started saying things to him about how inappropriate it was.

I'm just waiting for one of the kids to rebel against the parents. With 19 kids, at least one of them is going to. :sad2:

A world filled with Duggars....that's a scary thought
Think of how far and wide Michelle and JimBob are going to spread their DNA. If all 19 kids have even 5 kids each, they will have nearly 100 grandchildren. And Josh and Anna seem to be on track for more than that with 3 kids in 5 years. If each of the grandchildren have 5 kids, that 500 great grandchildren and so on and so on. We may indeed see a "world full of Duggars" in just a couple of generations :lmao:.

I'm a little taken aback at how you didn't even mention the blanket technique. I mean....that's a form of child abuse. Kids are all probably afraid they'll get that if they step out of line.

And....have you watched the show? Most of those kids are NOT "well behaved". The older kids seem like it, but then again the parents had to raise them, couldn't pawn them off on older siblings.

The younger kids are pretty bratty. I mean, just watch the episodes where they were in China and Japan. The dirty looks and things they said about the cultures lifestyle and food...I know "non-Duggar-like" kids who wouldn't even act that way.

Also, if any of the older children DO start acting out, they send them to "re-programming" camp. A few of the older girls have gone a few times.
Man, I have to catch up on this thread. Haven't watched the Duggars in a long time, but after seeing this thread and hearing about Josh's new position as "executive director" (his qualifications??) it looks like there's some interesting reading here.

As for the above bolded...I remember the Say Yes to the Dress episode where the kids were really badly behaved in the salon. I'd be PO'd if I were there for MY appt and had to deal with them. I would have removed my kids from a situation where their behavior was annoying to others. Yes, I know it's a show and the producers wanted them there, but MY kids learned pretty young to behave out in public anyway.

And just another little observation. When they built their house, the parents said the KIDS wanted their rooms to be dormitory style. IMHO, it was the parents way of making sure the kids...ahem..."behave" 24/7.

Thankfully, the Duggars didn't have 26 kids. Could you imagine some of them getting stuck with Z or Q names? Michelle and JimBob took J, and Josh and Anna have M.

Speaking of which...I've come to regret (;)) naming my DD with a name similar to mine. We bought cars at the same dealership, 3 and 2 years ago, and they still can't get it right who bought which car.

DH's brother and father have the same name(the brother is a Jr.) and it's caused them a lot of problems with mail and bank accounts and whatnot. i remember when DH and i started talking about having children and i asked him if we had a boy, if he'd want him to be a Jr and he was having none of it lol

Wait, what is wrong with short bus jokes?

Anyway, no matter what or how these kids are raised they eventually become adults and get to choose if they continue to live as their parents have or to blaze their own trail in life. Religiously and politically I'm quite different than my parents.

I think some of the decisions and discipline tactics I've heard the Duggars use are a bit out there and wacky but once the kids grow up they get to choose what kind of adults they will be. Simple probability states that at least one of the kids will end up very different than mom and dad are.

I agree all the way around. It will be interesting to see what time brings.

My dad is a jr. and had the same issue with his and his father's accounts. It's just me and my sister, but had there been a boy, he wouldn't have been a III, that's for sure! Plus, they were both named Paul which doesn't yield a great nickname, and I will never forget my mom telling me how embarrassing it was as a teenager to call her boyfriend's house and ask to speak to "Little Paul" :lmao: So when we were having a boy, we ultimately decided no juniors for the same 2 reasons.

Really? Do you think it's OK for Josh Duggar to make fun of disabled kids?

No idea, I'd have to see the specific context to determine if it was an attempt at humor or just mean. I, personally, don't view the two as the same thing.

Anyway, I was talking about short bus jokes in general, not one specific instance of it.

How can even using the term "short bus" not being making fun of children with special needs?

I guess they teach love and acceptance of those who are like themselves...

With THAT many kids I think it's creepy they have to be that controlling.

The whole family creeps me out to tell the truth.

I have one child and I know how much it takes to raise her. I salute you all that have more but 19 or whatever that number is of kids....it's IMPOSSIBLE to parent them the way you would with 2 or 3 which seems to be the American norm.

Maybe it's just me but I always say ewwwwwwww when I see that family!

I once mentioned the "O"-word in a thread about the "O"- word with the "O"-word in the title of the thread, yet the thread continued on?????

I'll probably get points for this post...
