Welcome one and all! For those of you who do not know me, Im Kylie! I took this wonderful vacation for seven glorious nights (Sept. 2-9th) with my fantastic boyfriend, Zach. If you want to know more about us and the planning of our trip, please check out the PTR in my signature! For basic deets: we stayed at the WL during free dining! We visited the four main parks, plus Universal one day and really had a terrific time. There was only one minor snafu that I really didnt waste more than a few minutes being upset over, which is a HUGE departure from our previous trip. (To read about that disaster, check out the August 2011 TR in my signature!)
I am also doing a dining report, which is here. Please check that out if youre interested in reading about our meals and snacks!
So on with the show! We woke up oh-so-early for our 7:30 a.m. flight out of JFK-- 3:40 a.m. to be exact! Classic Disney excitement made getting up and getting ready not that hard, fortunately. Zachs parents generously offered to drive us to the airport, and by the time we got our suitcases settled in the car, it was 4:14! I wanted to leave at 4:15, so my schedule-loving self was VERY pleased!
Checking in our bags with JetBlue was a breeze!

We had added the JetBlue EvenMore space/speed, which gave us seats with more leg room on the plane and access to expedited security in JFK. This was very helpful, as the regular security line was super long!
After going through security, we went to Dunkin Donuts to pick up some munchkins (I thought theyd be easiest to eat on the plane!). I dont think the food options in the JetBlue terminal are organized very well. Theyre all clumped together in one spot and share a set of registers. Even at 5:45, it was incredibly busy. Pure chaos!
Once we had our treats, we went over to our gate to wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. When all was said and done, we ended up taking off at 8:30, a full hour after we were supposed to. The plane picking us up was way late to the gate and then they needed to clean it and load the luggage on and blah blah blah. Just get me to Disney!!
We did end up making up a bit of time in the air and landed about 40 minutes late. Ahhhh! Oh that wonderful feeling when you land at MCO that means vacation has officially begun! Zach grabbed a Starbucks & we took the monorail over to the Magical Express! We walked straight onto a bus that was unfortunately nearly full (meaning we had to sit toward the back. I knew a good sign pic wasnt going to happen). The good thing was that the bus departed about five minutes after we boarded. The driver announced that we would be stopping at the Wilderness Lodge, the Grand Floridian, Poly, and Contemporary, in that order. Yay, we were first! We settled in for the trip to the most magical place on Earth&.

And a quick trip it was! I swear, about 20 minutes later, we saw this sign:

I was caught so off guard because it has never taken that fast to get to the resort before! Going under the WLs arch was amazing; I dont think any other resort has such a fantastic entryway. I think it really sets the tone for how amazingly beautiful and peace the WL is.
Since we didnt put any bags underneath the ME bus, we were able to bounce right into the WL without waiting. Even though we had visited two years ago, my breath was still taken away entering the WL lobby! I couldnt get over how happy I was to be staying there with my favorite person in the world!
There was no line at the check-in desk, fortunately. We had a lovely conversation with the cast member, who actually had a summer home one town over from us (actually, the town Zach works in!). What a coincidence! She spent some time explaining the dining plan and I kind of tuned out ;-) and happened to glance down at our room info packet. We got an upgrade to a woods view room!! Woo hoo! In another stroke of luck, our room was ready at 12:15!
Our room was 4102 and I just have to say-- it was perfect in every way. Perfect location, view, everything! It was close to the elevators but we never heard too much foot traffic. It was about 5 minutes, if that, to both Roaring Forks and the bus stop. Here are some some room pics (TBH, these were taken the next day):

Our fab view:

After settling in a bit, we headed out of our room around 12:40. Those munchkins were hours ago and I was starving for some lunch! We headed on out and I snapped this pic of the gorgeous lobby&

Apologies-- I hope you didnt find our travel/arriving story too boring! Theres lots more action to come! Also, sorry for the lack of pictures. (Youll find out why in a later post&) Stay tuned for our first afternoon at DTD and a night at Epcot!

Joining. Congrats on the upgrade - your view has to be one of the most peaceful in all of WDW

Here I am! Too bad your plane was late, but you made it and got a great room! I love Wilderness Lodge, so peaceful. What is a munchkin? A donut hole? We don't have Dunkin Donuts around here!

Definitely-- an hour delay seems so insignificant now, but at the time, I was peeved! Yup-- donut holes! That's funny, but I should have known "munchkin" was not a universal term. :rotfl:

I'm here! I'm here! And soooo excited!
Hey lady!!

As we made the turn to head toward the WL bus stop, I paused to rub Humphrey’s nose in the totem, per Jen’s advice ;-) I’d like to think this bit of luck worked for one specific thing: BUSES! Our typical wait for a bus was less than 5 minutes; the longest we waited was 10 minutes leaving Epcot in the middle of the day. I couldn’t believe it. I had thought the buses at POR were fine, but they certainly weren’t this reliable. I was in love with the WL already, and became a little bit more when a DTD bus pulled up about two minutes after we made it to the stop.
I love DTD, I really do, but I’ve been there A LOT in the past few years. Eventually, I did want to look in the World of Disney and TrenD, but at this point, all I wanted was FOOD! We headed straight to Cooke’s of Dublin and had a yummy lunch (check out my DR for more details!). Besides food pics, I took zero pictures in DTD, sorry! So I’ll just quickly mention that we hit World of Disney, the kitchen store, the Christmas store, the sports shop (where I picked up a Tampa Bay Buccaneers t-shirt for my brother), and finally TrenD, my fav! Several things in TrenD caught my eye, especially a big purchase Zach and I had discussed prior to our trip…
By 3:15, we were ready to hit a park! Since we wanted to do Future World stuff before our dinner, we decided it made the most sense to take a bus to a monorail resort. (Plus, Zach just loves riding the monorail!) We ended up taking a bus to the Grand Floridian and hopping on the monorail there. After we climbed the stairs, we saw the woman who sits in the lobby with a large collection of teddy bears. I will say that she wasn’t exactly the way I pictured, and that several people were standing around near the chairs, shooting agitated glances at the couch. I do think it’s pretty rude for someone to take up a significant amount of space when they’re not even staying at the resort-- and those bears really don’t need to sit on couches!
Anyway, we were in the park around 4:30. Yay! Nothing like the first park of a trip!! The first order of business was to purchase a new memory card at the Camera Center under Spaceship Earth. When we were at the airport, I had noticed my old card was pretty much full. I felt silly for not checking this before we left for the trip, but the card was pretty cheap for how big it is! After purchasing the card, the cast members opened the package for me and told me to take a test photo. Smile, Zach!

After getting that taken of, we made our first ride a classic, Spaceship Earth! Here we are:

Hmm, that’s not exactly where we live!
After checking the Times Board and seeing Test Track with a ridiculously long wait, we decided to head over to the Seas with Nemo and Friends:

I really love this line, but I can’t imagine it being full of people. I understand it was mega-popular when it first opened, but a ten minute wait time is pretty much my limit here. It’s a cute ride, but there’s not much to it.
The line for Bruce’s mouth was long, so I settled for a pic with this guy:

After emerging from the Seas, it was time to head into our favorite area in all of WDW-- the World Showcase! We made a quick dip into Canada and lamented that there were lots of cool things that would have been great to purchase before our Canadian party a few weeks ago (discussed in my PTR!). Zach also had to curse the selection of Vancouver Canucks shirts:

Go Rangers!
We slowly made our way around the World, briefly stopping in some of our favorite countries:

Oh Via Napoli, how I wish we could have fit you in! Maybe next trip!
I love this picture of Zach:

At 6:50, it was time to check in for our 7:05 dinner at Biergarten. Again, more details in my DR, but WOW! This was far and away our favorite TS of the trip. It is an absolute must-do for future trips!!

We were done with dinner around 8:20 and decided we were just a bit tired for Illuminations. Instead, we slooooowly meandered out of the park.
Light up sidewalks!

When we got to the bus stop, I had to snap a picture of Spaceship Earth:

I wasn’t thrilled about all the crosswalks we had to pass to get to the WL/Fort Wilderness bus stop, but I was incredibly happy when a bus pulled up at 8:53, two minutes after we lined up! On this trip, we went to FW to drop off a wheelchair user, but every other trip, WL was dropped off first from Epcot. We still managed to make it home at 9:20.
It was a wonderful start to our trip-- I couldn’t wait for our first full day and fell asleep quickly. Next up, our first full day, which is ALWAYS at the same park!

Ahh! I will go to your dining report next!

Looking forward to seeing your big purchase from Tren-D. I was the same, didn't want to buy much on the first night.

I like the Nemo ride okay, but I'm just in it for the aquariums at the end! It is a really long line isn't it?

I love Canada at WS, haha. I always want to go around telling people 'this is from my city!!!' If you haven't seen the circle vision movie there, it's actually pretty good and funny and not boring. But the Canucks have Tortorella this year, so anything could happen

We had amazing luck with the busses on our trip too! :thumbsup2 It really makes things much more pleasant, waiting when you're tired can really test your mood.

I love Biergarten, however, Shanleigh doesn't. She's quite a picky eater and there really is nothing there that she loves so I never get to go! Glad you enjoyed it! While you were in Canada did you see my beloved Jet's merchandise:goodvibes

I always try to resist buying stuff on the first night! Agree, I love the aquariums most of all. We actually didn't get a chance to explore them a ton this trip, but we have a lot in past trips.
We haven't gotten a chance to see the Canada movie, but I really want to next trip! I love Martin Short!
I actually love Torts. My boyfriend and I were NOT ready to see him go! I am SO excited for this season and how Vigneault will shake things up, though!

Oh, that's too bad! I think the food is wonderful! Zach is pretty picky too and he loved it!
Haha, I did see the Jets gear. Zach decided only the Canucks stuff was worthy of an ire-filled photograph ;)

Looks like you are off to a good start! How nice that you didn't have to wait for the Magical Express to take off. Last time I used ME we were one of the first ones on our bus and probably waited almost 45 minutes just sitting no the bus before we even left the airport. It was awful!

Love to upgrade to the woods view. That a beautiful view out your window!

Yeah, every time I walk through the queue for Nemo I just can't imagine there ever being that many people. I mean, if it was full could you even imagine what sort of a wait time it would be?? We joke that it takes 10 minutes just to walk through the queue even if it was completely empty!

I'm here!!!!! :)

Bummer the plane was late, but at least it made up time in the air!!

Your room looks awesome and cosy!!! Great view!!!!

I rarely take pics at DTD, so I understand!

sounds like your trip is off to an awesome start!!!
And Wahoo for short bus waits!!!! :)

NOW to go over to your dining report :)

Joining in! I never finished my pre-trip :guilty: but hope to get started on my TR soon. Between me and Hannah I have about 700 pictures to go through, plus over 100 on photo pass. Sounds like your trip started great... I'm sure you'll be commenting about the rain soon!
