Lovesdumbo, what type of car are you renting and what is your price? I'm curious how much more you are talking about that you are paying.

By the way, I am using my Alamo Insider's and a $30 off coupon, AD2338FDF to get the prices I found. You must pickup car by 12/15 to use this coupon.

Does anyone else have a better coupon out there? I haven't found any higher than $30 so far.

I logged in as insider, used AP group code, the coupon you just posted and got $298.41 for Standard for 1 week plus 3 hours.

I'll keep trying but I'd much rather pay closer to the $178 number you're getting for more days and I'm only arriving 4 days later.

Just to post the price I got with Alamo - 10 days for a Standard size car for $164 using the insider and the $30 coupon code listed above. My confirmation says that an additional driver is included. My dates are Dec 7 - 17th.

WOW. That is a very good rate. I have one less day than you and they are quoting me nearly $300 for my dates. We're the 13th to the 22nd. Good for you!
I'll stick with Dollar for now. I always prefer Alamo because of the ability to choose my own car, and I'll switch if the prices drop for my dates, but I am happy with $198 for now.

Yes. They'll have a row for you to pick from when you go out to the garage. It's kind of fun to be able to pick your car. Sometimes there will be a better class of car in the row but you can't count on that.
Alamo also has kiosks in the airport in front of their counters. If you check in online you should be able to go straight to the kiosk to start your reservation and then straight out to the garage to pick your car. The only thing that might send you to the desk is that coupon but I've been able to skip the desk with some coupons.
Overall it's a very speedy process and we've always enjoyed it.
And in 8 trips over the last few years I can tell you that is a GREAT rate you got

I tried your dates and couldn't get the price you did for a standard but did get about $187 for a full size. I modified it to my dates and can't get any size car close to that.

I guess I'll have to just keeping trying.

lOVESDUMBO, I think the problem is your dates. Those are the dates of the Pop Warner Super Bowl and the rental car companies know these things, so that may be the problem. I know that we were thinking about changing our trip by only one day and arrive on the 3rd - 12th, that raised my price by several hundred dollars. It is also the parade taping weekend, so I speculate they are both factors in the prices.

Just keep checking. Here are a few other options you can check periodically.

I just spoke to Alamo about the agent who lied to me about the additional driver in August and they offered me 2 free days. I told them I didn't think that was a big deal since if I use that I can't use any other coupon so I spoke to a supervisor who gave me a $75 credit for the August rental.

I do have a Dollar reservation for Dec for under $200 but I read so many negative reviews that I'm a bit nervous about them. I do know that you've got to read those negative reviews with a grain of salt as only folks who have a real beef tend to post reviews but what scares me is the consistency of the complaints. So many say they decline insurance only to be charged for it anyways when they get their credit card statement.

lovesdumbo, you can get an intermediate SUV for your dates for 209.32 all in at Budget (carrentalsavers.com). Would you be willing to return your car a couple hours earlier? It's those few hours over the one week that is really killing the deals - you could get the exact same SUV for 172.32 if you return it at 2 pm instead of 4 pm.

We are traveling at the same time, and have found good deals so I don't buy the Pop Warner theory.

Oh believe me I do! I check and re check. I do my Xmas trip then my March trip! I think we may just be renting a care from Tampa to Kissimmee, if the prices stay high. There is a Hertz right at the resort, and if we need one we will do that.

What if you returned it to the Car Care Centre or to Dolphin Alamo location? Have you priced that out to see if that helps you? You could then take ME back to the airport if you're staying onsite. Just a thought.

Brilliant!!! I had tried doing both pickup & return to Dolphin but had not tried pickup at MCO & return to Dolphin. Got it down to $167! I can do ME to save $100. Plus return to Dolphin was so easy!

It wasn't extra 3 hours because I was still getting same high rates with return to MCO at 1pm. It was just return to MCO.
