~~ Sew hot, Hot, HOT! ~~ A sweltering Aug 2013 TR ~ Pre-Trippie link posted! ~ 10/31!

Definitely adding the beads to my must buy list......

I am glad to hear that you liked lunch. I have heard so many people say that they only liked breakfast there:thumbsup2

Uh-oh, not more monorail problems........

We were almost to our lunch ADR - Akershus... We have never eaten there before - and this was a last minute addition to our schedule. As most of you know from my PTR - I really struggled with where to eat lunch this day. First it was Chefs de France... Then it was Biergarten... Still struggling with my choice 1 week before we left - I saw this ADR open up for Akershus... So I grabbed it.

We checked in for our meal, and found a shady spot to sit outside.

IMG_0729.jpg

Glad you found some shade.

We didn't wait long when a nice looking Norwegian CM called us in. I think the girls were rather excited about this? They may have had hopes that he was our server? Ahhh, but it was not to be - our server was female.

Drats...that's too bad.

We had our photo done with Belle... Who went crazy over all of our gear... Then she called over her handler and the PP photographer and continued to show them all of our stuff. It was pretty neat!

1235cn_20130831_12520407.jpg

Great photo.

We were seated with a veiw of the buffet... There were 3 tables here, so we were kind of by ourselves. I was a little concerned about the location - but it wasn't that bad, no one was ever seated at the 3rd table while we were there.

IMG_0730.jpg

IMG_0731.jpg

Our view of the buffet:

IMG_0732.jpg

We ordered our food and visited the buffet... It was a nice refreshing buffet. The girls especially loved the assortment of meats and cheeses... And of course - we are carbivores - so the bread was very good.

I did like this part of the lunch...the meats, cheeses and bread.

Before we knew it, the Princesses started to come around... Some of these princesses we had seen SEVERAL times at this point - Cinderella seemed a little disappointed that the girls didn't feel it necessary to have their picture taken with her... So reluctantly they stood up to have their picture done - as they did for the rest of the Princesses - so not to not make the Princesses feel bad. LOL

IMG_0733.jpg

IMG_0734.jpg

IMG_0735.jpg

IMG_0737.jpg

I'm sorry, but these princesses just don't look good (your girls, however, look great!).

It was kind of nice that the Princesses came through while we were eating from the salad bar, so that once our food came - we were able to eat our food with out the disruption. LOL - We were hungry!

Alli ordered the open faced chicken sandwich with some sort of potato soup. She liked it, but thought it was very awkward to eat with out a top to hold on to, so she mostly picked it apart and ate each item individually.

IMG_0738.jpg

That actually looks very good.

Victoria ordered the Traditional Kjottkake (meatballs) - she LOVED them!

IMG_0739.jpg

See this is what I had and I hated it. Now this was six years ago and mine was shaped like a meatloaf, not meatballs, and was very bland. Perhaps they've changed it a bit.

And I ordered some sort of beef sandwich - which isn't listed on the Allears menu - so I don't know what it's called? But it was beef and it had blue cheese on it. It was very good.

IMG_0740.jpg

Mark would like that.

Clean plate club for V - which NEVER happens in real life! So, this is a monumentous occasion!

IMG_0741.jpg

Did she get a treat for this?

Mmmm... And the desserts... I'd forgotten how good these were - until I looked at the picture just now. LOL They were so good - we asked for seconds of the dessert tray, even though we were full. I wish I could share a favorite - but they were all different and all delicious.

IMG_0742.jpg

Darn...you are making me hungry now.

We ate our dessert, settled our "bill" - and off we went... Uh-oh... It had rained while we were eating. Great...

Off we went around World Showcase... We stopped in China to visit Mulan...

IMG_0743.jpg

Then we stopped at the Park Map Bracelet stand, as Victoria wanted to pick out a bracelet (or 3). She talked me into buying 2 of them for her, and she purchased one herself. They are super cute - and a fun story to tell.

What is a park map bracelet?

While we were there... Guess what... We were there for a long while... Yup - it rained... We should just expect that while we are in WS in Epcot.

20130824_134527.jpg

Then we headed to France to grab treats for later... Have I mentioned lately that it was HOT? It was very, VERY, VERY HOT!

V and I ordered Napoleons, and Alli had something else? I don't remember what. But they packed them all "to-go" and off we went...

I looked at the time, and figured we better start heading to the front of the park. We were on a mission!

It was SOOOO hot by now... Hot enough that we were trying to duck into any building we could on our way to the front of Epcot, just to cool down for a few minutes. It really sucked.

We were headed to the Monorail... A photo as we passed under SSE:

IMG_0751.jpg

Like my TR title indicates, what time is the 4 p.m. rain? I never experienced so much rain at Disney.

Rut-Roh... Did I just say "monorail?" :scratchin And we needed to be somewhere??? :moped: And this somewhere was VERY important... ::yes:: Great...

Link to Day 5 Part C

D~

I'm going to guess one of the monorail resorts because I know you didn't have park hoppers.

OK - sorry for hogging my TR this morning... But I really felt this was post-worthy...

So, just a minute ago - I walked out to the kitchen to get my water ready for my morning work out... I glance into the livingroom... I guess someone fell asleep this morning while studying...

LOL
20130912_073532.jpg

Poor Maxy-Moose... It's tough work learning English... (nevermind that he isn't supposed to be on the furniture...)

D~

Is Maxy-Moose taking lessons from Mo's dog? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Quick drive by about the bracelets/necklaces. Miss B LOVED them! She bought one for herself and one for her BFF last trip and is looking towards buying another one this trip.

Besides being cool (made of paper and all that) she LOVES the story associated with it. She is my...um ... crunchy girl. The fact that Disney recycles all that paper and sends it to third world countries for the women there to earn a living making these things makes her smile every time she wears it.

She and her BFF tried to duplicate them...epic fail!

Nini

Nice new avatar photo! :)

We've been seated at that exact same table before and although I liked being close to the buffet, when they had the little princess parade (at breakfast) it was crowded and you couldn't get food. I know, first world problems!! :lmao:

That Cinderella at Akershus didn't have a bright beautiful smile. Perhaps she was not feeling it! Those meatballs look good - especially the green beans. (I'm a green bean fiend!) Was that a rice pudding dessert with the raspberry drizzle? Everything looks yummy!

Oh no!! You are in a hurry to get somewhere.... I see an issue coming up. :scared:

This was a really cool bag to make - I have never made anything from AiW, so it was just cool to work with the Cheshire Cat! I love the colors of this bag and how it turned out... I especially love that I did the striped fabric as the trim on the front pocket - it turned out really neat.

Thanks for the link on the park map bracelets. We go every year and I've never seen these. Enjoying your trip report and loving your Disney accessories.

:woohoo: I foresee a super story coming our way... So you and the girls had to be somewhere importantpopcorn::

Don't you just love those sudden downpours! At least it was warm outside and you'd dry off quick. But it's crazy when you aren't near any shelter and everyone is trying to get to cover...

Pretty wild that you have the 3 moms of triplets posting on your TR. I think that might be a disboards record.

As for your question: Does it let you enter 3 cards still? Yes, it let me enter 3 cards (and I probably could have added more). You entered each one individually and then it would refresh the page. I have a feeling I mistyped one of the numbers for the 3rd card so it didn't register. Honestly I wasn't paying too much attention and I figured it would bring me to a confirmation screen but it just processed the order. Of course this was the new site so who knows.....

Would love to know more about the park map bracelet. Where do you fine them, how much do they cost, and what do they look like. This sounds like an interesting concept.
Yeah, I had never heard of this before. Those beads are really pretty. My DD's Girl Scout troop made these last year for a project about Kenya to show how some of the women there make money buy making goods for sale in the US. It took them FOREVER to make just a few beads for display and they were not the pretty (we used the oriental trading catalog). Such a neat idea. I'm sure V will enjoy her bracelets.

Love the pictures of V trying on all the hats in epcot. And you should have just worn that hat on the plane if it didn't fit in your suitcase. I still like your hair accessories better. Akershus lunch looks absolutely delicious. We have never been for lunch but have done the breakfast a few times. We will be going to a late breakfast there in Oct but now I wish it was lunch. I didn't like the look of the new princess dresses (I'm not big on change) when they first came out but now they are growing on me, that is all of them except Aurora. Her dress just doesn't seem very royal. I think the skirt needs to be fuller and the color looks a little flat.

Glad you got the girls to pose with the princesses. Did you get to meet Mulan?

Where are you guys headed? You are such a tease!!!

I hope MM got all his homework done. :teacher: How do your girls carry those books home. They must be 20 lbs each.

This was a really cool bag to make - I have never made anything from AiW, so it was just cool to work with the Cheshire Cat! I love the colors of this bag and how it turned out... I especially love that I did the striped fabric as the trim on the front pocket - it turned out really neat.

:worship: I could stare at this picture all day. It must take you forever to make all those stitches of various width. Simply amazing. This bag is just the cutest. I love the tail and the striped pocket is a very nice detail. The little wallet is a great accessory. And that lining fabric looks familiar, I think I know where you got it. Your mind must be constantly planning and designing.

I LOVE your beautiful bags! I couldn't find anywhere to post about them at the link, so thought I would tell you here! :confused3 They are RIGHT up my alley. Did I miss where you sell them? I would love some more information on them! :p I carry so many bags as a teacher and try to incorporate Disney at every chance I can! :)

Thanks!

Love the pictures of the food especially the Beef Sandwich. Do they still have the Assorted Smoked Fish and Herring?

I would put your bags up against Vera Bradley Bags any day. :thumbsup2

Love the Cheshire bag D! The colors really POP!!!:thumbsup2

I never did make it back over to the African outpost to get my bracelet. I should have just bought one when I looked the first time but I couldn't decide which one I wanted the most and DD was hot and ready to move on. :confused3
Oh well, add it to the list for next year!:lmao:

All caught up again......lol Ok food looks good. beads are really cool. and I love the new bag wspecially the tail....to cute!

So glad you are starting to feel better... It's so hard when they go to school, it's nice to have that time off - but there is still so much to be done too! It sounds like you have a super busy life! And how awesome that Jeremy is so helpful!!! You are very lucky!

I feel like I'm just constantly going right now. Yesterday I left home at 8 am and basically didn't get home until 8:30 pm!! In between that whole time I was only home for about 3 hours total (and not all at once!) But that's ok today was a drop off, pick up only day!! Oh and I worked on some room parent stuff while the kids were in school so that was good.

What a fun update! I actually understand how the girls feel like ok I've seen you a few times already don't need another picture. But that's great they thought of their feelings!!

That Cheshire bag is great!!!

<--------- New avatar pic... What do you all think? I think I need to redo it once our PP cd comes and maybe the photo won't be so blurry?

D~

I like how bright and colorful it is!

Poor Maxy-Moose... It's tough work learning English... (nevermind that he isn't supposed to be on the furniture...)

D~

I love it! He is studying from the same English book we have.

I agree I carry bags and bags and bags within bags. My grading is well-traveled - eventually it even gets done...eventually.

I also tried to quote how you despise hills, but lost that quote somehow - hills - what are those? I have read about them, but here is the desert I have begun to believe that those are a myth.

FABULOUS! Every one of your bags is to die for! I love his tail on the side! Great idea!

Hi Mo!

Would love to know more about the park map bracelet. Where do you fine them, how much do they cost, and what do they look like. This sounds like an interesting concept.

I did post a link below and I saw that you saw it. So, just saying hi!

I didn't think it was possible to hog your own trip report.

Hahaha!!! How is your trip planning going? I need to stop by your PTR and catch up.

Looks good. I love the combination of beef and bleu cheese, so I'll probably order that when we go next month.

It was very good - but the roll that it was on was perfect for the sandwich.

Even though you order the entrees from the menu, isn't everything one price for adults (and a little cheaper for those under 9)?

I belive so? I am not 100% certain, since we were on the dining plan.

Hello there! I feel like such a slacker. I have been here reading along in bits and pieces every chance I get. But, between being swamped at work and not having time to DIS and having evenings filled with activities I just haven't had time for proper responses. Not to mention...things are so fast paced over here on the D~ report, that it's so very easy to get behind quickly.

I totally understand - it's great to see you here! You can always just say hi -and not comment on anything. :thumbsup2

So... just a few notes...probably TOTALLY out of order:
  • Totally digging the head gear in all the pictures. The character mouse ears are my favorite. it was great to see Alli finally put her head gear on for a few pictures. Silly teens!

  • Thank you - we had so much fun wearing it. I get to wear my Donald bag today, because BFF hasn't seen it in person today... It's all I can do to not grab my ears to go with it - but we are going grocery shopping - so it's hardly the appropriate time to wear them. But I miss having all the gear on - it's so fun!

[*]I hate that you and Alli both were feeling sick at the Dessert party and had to skip out early!

It was such a bummer, but the desserts were good. LOL

[*]Speaking of Alli - The pictures she posted are fabulous. I LOVE the one of the castle framed by the trees...totally FRAME-WORTY! And that food picture....OOOOHHH YUMMY!

Thank you... I hope she sees this... She has been swamped with school work for the last couple of days... and this weekend she is swamped with friends and a babysitting job.

[*]Sorry to hear about all the monorail troubles. I'm afraid that today's post ended with some foreboding of what is to come regarding the monorails....

    Yah... Sigh...

[*]Park map bracelets?!? I am going to need more info on this! I have never heard of them. Can you post some pictures? Cost? Description?

I posted a link below - I even quoted it, so you all could find it just in case.

[*]Akershus - LOVE that restaurant! We had such a wonderful experience there in 2011. I would definitely go back. I thought the food was good and the princess interaction was an added bonus.

    We really enoyed it!
OK...that's all I can remember off the top of my head. Can't wait to read more. In case you don't see me comment...please know that I am still following along and very much enjoying reading your TR

No worries... I stop into your PTR occasionally, I will see you there too.

I don't think we took any photos of V's Park Map bracelets - if we did - they will be posted later in the TR. Now that we are home, she wears them every chance she gets - they are fun and make for excellent conversation.

Hopefully The Dis allows this link to be posted - here is a bit more info and photos about them. They are really cool. Even though it was $30+tax for her 3 bracelets, the $$ went for a worthy cause. :)

D~

Here's the link again for anyone who needs it.

Ooh I need to look into the bracelets, they sound cool. The Akerhaus lunch looks awesome. We have never eaten there for Breakfast or lunch but we love their dinner.

Yah - they are so fun! V wants to eat there for breakfast AND dinner next trip. LOL

Definitely adding the beads to my must buy list......

I am glad to hear that you liked lunch. I have heard so many people say that they only liked breakfast there

Uh-oh, not more monorail problems........

Yah - they are really cool! Well, we enjoyed lunch - but if everyone likes breakfast - I can only imagine that we would like that too. LOL

I'm going to guess one of the monorail resorts because I know you didn't have park hoppers.

Is Maxy-Moose taking lessons from Mo's dog?

I couldn't grab all the quotes from your message because they were with in mine, but maybe.... LOL I will be posting an update this morning - I hope I have the time to anyways.

Mr. MM is a crazy guy... Aside from the fact that he was on the furniture - the books should have been in school with the girls. :rolleyes1

Quick drive by about the bracelets/necklaces. Miss B LOVED them! She bought one for herself and one for her BFF last trip and is looking towards buying another one this trip.

She and her BFF tried to duplicate them...epic fail!

Nini

I can only imagine how hard they would be to make! Bravo to dd for trying though.

Nice new avatar photo!

Thanks - it was about 4 years overdue. LOL

We've been seated at that exact same table before and although I liked being close to the buffet, when they had the little princess parade (at breakfast) it was crowded and you couldn't get food. I know, first world problems!!

Hahaha... That is a serious issue - I totally agree.

That Cinderella at Akershus didn't have a bright beautiful smile. Perhaps she was not feeling it! Those meatballs look good - especially the green beans. (I'm a green bean fiend!) Was that a rice pudding dessert with the raspberry drizzle? Everything looks yummy!

I think she wasn't smiling because the girls openly stated they didn't need a picture with her, then she insisted and the girls were like "OK, fine...." Hahaha - poor Cindy - probably never had that problem before?

Yes that was the rice pudding!!! IT was soooooo good - I think that's my favorite, but we loved the apple cake too. Scrumptious!

Oh no!! You are in a hurry to get somewhere.... I see an issue coming up.

Ummmm.... Yah... Sigh...

D strikes again. Awesome bag.

Thanks Kathy!

just saw this on fb,

Thanks Raina!

Thanks for the link on the park map bracelets. We go every year and I've never seen these. Enjoying your trip report and loving your Disney accessories.

Thanks! No problem... It's kind of easy to miss because it's just a little kiosk.

I foresee a super story coming our way... So you and the girls had to be somewhere important

Hi Sheila! Yah - isn't that the way it always goes?

Don't you just love those sudden downpours! At least it was warm outside and you'd dry off quick. But it's crazy when you aren't near any shelter and everyone is trying to get to cover...

Sheila

Yah - that downpour was crazy - it lasted at least 15 minutes!

Pretty wild that you have the 3 moms of triplets posting on your TR. I think that might be a disboards record.

Hahaha...

As for your question: Does it let you enter 3 cards still? Yes, it let me enter 3 cards (and I probably could have added more). You entered each one individually and then it would refresh the page. Honestly I wasn't paying too much attention and I figured it would bring me to a confirmation screen but it just processed the order. Of course this was the new site so who knows.....

Got it! SOmetimes I am slow. Hahahaha

Yeah, I had never heard of this before. Those beads are really pretty. LOL about the hat... I probably would have - if it had been closer to halloween.

Yah... I am not sure I like the new princess look... It's a bit too modern for me. I don't like change either.

Glad you got the girls to pose with the princesses. Did you get to meet Mulan?

Yes we did... I have photos coming on my PP Cd...

Where are you guys headed? You are such a tease!!!

Gotta keep people reading somehow... LOL

I hope MM got all his homework done. How do your girls carry those books home. They must be 20 lbs each.

I don't know - they are crazy heavy - that's for sure. Not only that, but they lug them around school all day. It's so funny, because on Wednesdays when they meet me at Target after school - the first thing they do is dump both their backpacks into a cart and they push them around the store until I get off of work. LOL They are super heavy!

I could stare at this picture all day. It must take you forever to make all those stitches of various width. Simply amazing. This bag is just the cutest. I love the tail and the striped pocket is a very nice detail. The little wallet is a great accessory. And that lining fabric looks familiar, I think I know where you got it. Thanks Liz - that really means a lot! Yes - you are right - I've been hoarding that fabric since Charlotte last year - you were with me when I bought it! :thumbsup2 That was such a fun trip - I miss you all!

I LOVE your beautiful bags! I couldn't find anywhere to post about them at the link, so thought I would tell you here! They are RIGHT up my alley. Did I miss where you sell them? I would love some more information on them! :p I carry so many bags as a teacher and try to incorporate Disney at every chance I can!

Hi there! Welcome! And thank you! :)

Love the pictures of the food especially the Beef Sandwich. Do they still have the Assorted Smoked Fish and Herring?

Hahaha - probably? I don't go near herring - so I am not sure. LOL

I would put your bags up against Vera Bradley Bags any day.

Awww... Thank you!

Love the Cheshire bag D! The colors really POP!!!

Thanks Tasha!!! I am so happy to see you here more frequently!!! The girls and I miss you!

I never did make it back over to the African outpost to get my bracelet. I should have just bought one when I looked the first time but I couldn't decide which one I wanted the most and DD was hot and ready to move on.
Oh well, add it to the list for next year!

Bummer - yes, next year... I have an update involving you coming up shortly (today or tomorrow).

All caught up again......lol Ok food looks good. beads are really cool. and I love the new bag wspecially the tail....to cute!

Hahaha! YOu are so dedicated! I don't know how you all keep up - I can barely do it myself. Thanks so much!

Wow! I just don't know how you do it?

What a fun update! I actually understand how the girls feel like ok I've seen you a few times already don't need another picture. But that's great they thought of their feelings!!

I know - after Cindy left - I told them "I think you hurt her feelings" - LOL So, they weren't as vocal about their grumblings after that - they just stood up - took the required picture - then sat back down to eat. LOL

That Cheshire bag is great!!!

Thanks Sandra!

I like how bright and colorful it is!

Thank you!

I love it! He is studying from the same English book we have.

Hahaha... The worst part is that the books were supposed to be at school with the girls... Sigh.

I agree I carry bags and bags and bags within bags. My grading is well-traveled - eventually it even gets done...eventually.

I can't imagine...

I also tried to quote how you despise hills, but lost that quote somehow - hills - what are those? I have read about them, but here is the desert I have begun to believe that those are a myth.

Hahaha... Well you can come visit me and walk my hills... I will set up my lawn chair and watch. LOL I hate walking them - they are getting easier, but they are just soooo steep!

How adorable! Doggies are just the best!

Thanks! We love MM!

FABULOUS! Every one of your bags is to die for! I love his tail on the side! Great idea!

Thank you very much!

**********************************************************

Well - I finished my custom order for the week yesterday... WHOOT!

Then I dug into my auction bag for next week - can you believe it's the 3rd THurs already? Craziness! I know exactly what I am doing - but I realized I didn't have the right color of fabric on hand - so now I have to make a JoAnn's run. I did start with what I did have though - so that's good... I am just making this bag in a little bit of a backwards order than normal. :rolleyes1

I made beef stroganoff for dinner last night - it was delicious!

Today is friday - for those of you who are newcomers... That means it's grocery shopping day for me. I do dabble a little bit in couponing - some weeks I am better than others. Some of the $$ saved does go into my trip fund - so my grocery shopping is DIRECTLY related to my trips. LOL

I always grocery shop with my BFF - and we usually make a day out of it. We have a lot of fun and we shop well together. :woohoo:

So, when I am done here - I will work out and get ready to shop. I like to get to the stores early, because I don't like to fight crowds when I am checking out - it drives me crazy!

I hope you all have a fantastic day!!!

D~ <--- Sorry - no outtakes today...

Just a side note before I start... I had to go back in my phone and grab the time stamp from my texts for this portion... It was a bit crazy. And this update only has ONE important picture.

If you'll remember, we had just left WS via Friendship boat from Morocco. I had texted Suzi that we had just boarded that boat at 1:29pm.

From there, we hit Club Cool...

We exited the park via the Monorail - according to my text to Suzi - at 2:12pm.

We rode the Monorail to the TTC - it was there that we discovered we must EXIT the Monorail station to get to the other platform for the Resort Monorail. Sigh... It was soooo HOT!!! And the monorail was there... So we booked it down the ramp and up the next one. Phew!!! We made it!

**** Why are we in such a hurry??? Well... Suzi and clan are leaving Disney today - and we CANNOT let her leave with out saying goodbye. :guilty: As we were traveling - they were already at the ME stop awaiting their bus. :scared:

So, we boarded the Monorail... And we sat there... And we sat there.... And we sat there... I sent Suzi a text at 2:22pm "Stuck at TTC... Where can I find you?"

And we sat there... And we sat there... And we sat there... Seriously?

The doors kept opening - then closing, then opening, then closing... Grrr...

Finally - the girls and I had enough... We blew that popsicle stand! As much as it was too hot to walk - we would miss Suzi if we didn't go now...

As we were walking off the Monorail platform - guess who we bump into... It's Diser Taryn... Remember - she's the one who I ran into after our LAST Monorail fiasco - on our way to CRT... Now, I didn' think about this then - but I have given it some thought since we have been home... I don't think it was us who was causing all the Monorail issues... Taryn was very nearby for all of them - so I think it was her. :scratchin :rotfl2:

Taryn was on her way to the Poly as well - she was scheduled for the same ME bus as Suzi... PERFECT!!!

So, I sent Suzi a text at 2:34... "hold the ME bus - Taryn is coming too" - Hahaha... Not sure if Suzi knew who Taryn was? LOL

Finally - Finally made it to the Poly!!! I couldn't believe how long it took!

But we were able to say goodbye to Suzi, Bradey and Sara... And we even lucked out with an (almost) proper Dismeet with Taryn.

I thought we took pictures, but unless Taryn has them - there aren't any. :(

As we left Suzi... I did turn around and sneak one photo of them going across to the ME bus... So sad... The girls and I were going to miss having her in Disney with us.

When we finished saying goodbye to Suzi... The girls and I headed into Captain Cooks in the Poly...

We decided to hang out in the air for a while, top off our bodies with some ice water and eat our melted Napoleons from France. They weren't very good after all that HOT traveling. And certainly not as good as I remembered them.

From there - we took the Monorail to MK... We stalled again - but this time, we had nowhere to be, so we just waited it out.

Will we ever get off the Monorail? Will we ever make it back to our resort? Or are we just destined to spend the rest of our trip on the Monorail?
