A rabbi, a priest, and a pastor board the Wonder: we're back!

:goodvibes and :thanks: I'm so glad we could use points. I think we may have enough through United for the way home. DH has a trip in 2 weeks so I'll check the balance after that.

I generally don't book this close :rotfl2: to a trip but I was waiting for prices to drop and it just hasn't happened. I'm afraid they'll do nothing but increase. I love SW because if their price drops, they'll issue a credit to be used 1 year from original booking date and they'll allow us to share the credit within our immediate family. :thumbsup2

Just another reason to love SW! :) I've been taking advantage of bumps too...I'm up to $1200 in free airfare since March.

I really like SW and JetBlue. Wow! That's a ton on free airfare. :thumbsup2 The only good bumps we ever see are when we fly with the kids and we can never take advantage of those.

How's your weekend?

It's much easier to take bumps when you are by yourself. :)

Weekend is good but hot. Spent today meeting with a lawyer and shopping for a new car.

I booked our flights to Fort Lauderdale yesterday. I was able to use points for almost all of it and had to purchase only a few extra. So we're on SW on the way out, arriving early evening on the Saturday before the cruise. It feels so real having at least one way of the flight booked.

pixiedust: 134 days!!! pixiedust:

I'm glad you got your flights for at least part of it. I can't imagine traveling on two different carriers for a trip and not booking round trip, but I'm glad you can make it work for you!

I know not what you speak of with these bumps. :rolleyes1

YAY! That always makes it feel so much more real, that is wonderful. Rates have just been nuts, I feel like I check things daily and have been stressed out waiting for my family to book. 3 more did today so that's good but I really wish the rest would. Rates are definitely not going down. Fingers crossed on the way back, I can't stand United anymore (which is sad as I used to fly them almost exclusively) but I feel I can't trust their schedules at all.

I was worried I'd be pages behind, whew!

Congrats on getting flights. When do you get in? I get there at 5:35. Will start thinking about the hotel again when I get home.

A lawyer? Hope everything is okay.:goodvibes A new car? Do tell. That's very exciting.

We have saved in the past by traveling different carriers. It doesn't really matter to me if we take SW there and fly United home as long as I can use points, I'm happy. I don't love United though by any means. They change flight times like crazy. :scared:

Flights are more packed and more expensive. I miss the days of $59 one way to anywhere.

:goodvibes Thanks! I am so relived to have at least one way booked. I'm glad ore of your family has booked. Who are the hold outs?

That's exactly how I feel about United. They are not consistent at all.

I cannot wait to read all about your trip and see the photos. It sounds absolutely magical so far. Did you go to Alison's concert today?

I haven't made hotel decisions either. Still need to talk to my friend about her deal. I'm hyper focused on the bar mitzvah. We're a month away. It's crunch time. :hyper: Joshua has studied so hard and I am so proud of him. He's earning every bit of this cruise and I want to make it so awesome for him.

I got rear ended a week ago Friday evening and pushed into the car ahead of me. (I was stopped in traffic). Insurance totaled my Jeep. :( I picked up the accident report on Thursday and found out the girl that hit me admitted that she was looking down at her phone and never hit the brakes and hit me at full speed. I've been having back and neck issues from the accident so I decided to call an attorney to make sure that I get my bills all paid. So now I have to find a new car...very sad because my Jeep was paid off and I had planned on driving it for a few more years since I invested a bunch of money in restoring my Mustang this summer. I think I found something but have to wait to get the payout from insurance for my Jeep.

Probably too much information but its been a long week. :) Ready for my trip next month!

Not too much info at all. :goodvibes Thats rough and I'm so sorry you're in pain because of it. You're smart to contact at atty though especially for any lingering issues. I swear, cell phones will be the end of civilization. One of my dearest friends is a terrible texter and driver. I love her but freak if she tries to text and drive with me in the car. It's just so dangerous.

I'm sorry about your poor Jeep. :( What kind of car did you find that you like? How long does the payout take?

Thanks. :) I'm trying to break the cell phone habit now...its crazy how distracting they are!

Well, I was thinking a small SUV and fell in love with a new Escape but my practical side is making me rethink that. I really love no car payments. Now my practical side is siding with my fun side and I'm looking at Mini Coopers. :) Cheap and fun! I'm having a hard time deciding...they aren't that practical in the snow. ;)

I had to call and yell at the insurance company tonight. They hadn't processed the payment yet even though they got my title on Friday and they are only paying for the rental through Thursday. I *should* have the money by Wednesday or Thursday.

Oh texting and driving freaks me out, or just the looking down at the phone. It can happen THAT fast. Jeff does it sometimes and it makes me crazy. I won't touch it unless I'm at a light and shouldn't even then.

Glad you are getting seen, unfortunate that you have to get an atty....your insurance should make sure of that for you especially in a case like this.

I can see where a Mini would not be good in Denver! They are cute though

I'm sorry to hear that! What an awful situation! Back and neck issues are no fun. I have been in enough accidents to know that they really mess you up.

Any word on the payout from your Jeep?

My inlaws have an Escape and love it. :thumbsup2 We have a small SUV and I love it. I drove an Expedition for years or as I called it: the boat. It was huge and fabulous but got terrible gas mileage. It was so comfortable for travel though.

Mini Coopers are darling but I agree they're not practical in the snow. But they are so cute. I love the red ones.

Texting and driving is so scary. I told Gabby if I see a text on the bill during the times I know she's driving, she can kiss her car and her cell away. It's a zero tolerance thing for me.

I can't believe it's so close. I also cannot believe you're gong to WDW in just a few months. Lucky duck.

Joshua's bar mitzvah is exactly a month, October 12, away from today so if y'all don't see me much, I'm drowning in Hebrew or preparations. :hyper:

He knows what he needs to and is now in practice mode which makes me very very happy. He's tweaking his d'var Torah and practicing reading loud so his voice can carry to the back of the room. Good times for a 12 year old boy. ;)

Michael needs to call Einsteins and set up the bagel delivery for the kiddush luncheon. We'll get their bagels and coffee but do our own lox, capers, onions, egg salad, desserts, etc....I'm meeting with a few bakers this week and next week.

The rabbi has his flight and hotel and we finally sent invites. I am in full freak out mode.

We are having a very small dinner that evening, not fancy, at a local brewery. They're doing a fixed menu for me. We really just aren't formal people. We'll bring our own wine and pay their corkage fee ($8) a bottle- kind of steep. They've got great beer and really good food. It's close too which is important. Bar/bat mitzvah days are VERY long days. I let Joshua choose the menu for the evening. Here's the link. www.roostersbrewingco.com Guess which 3 entrees he chose? I told him he needed to choose a pasta/vegetarian option, a chicken, and either a beef or fish entree. I've been in contact with the manager over this last week and a half and am now trying to explain the pace of the meal. It's similar to a wedding in the fact that we'll like everyone to have a drink so we can toast, praise Joshua, thank the rabbi and gabbi, and the others who read an aliyah during his service. I'm thinking we'll need about 2 hours for dinner. Plus these peeps like to drink. It's going to be a really nice evening.

I'm planning on serving one hummus platter per every 4 people and also a Margherita flatbread per every 4 so that'll be 10 appetizers for 20 people. I'm a feeder. Their pear and gorgonzola salad is amazing so that'll come with the entrees unless they want soup or a regular dinner salad. I've asked the manager what our soup options for the evening will be and I'm waiting to hear back.

They also do a daily special so I think that'll be the 4th menu option if we go for a 4th. Generally the kids are very involved with their party planning and since Joshua isn't doing a party, I thought he'd like to help with the dinner. He seems onboard.

Sorry I'm rambling but I thought since the bar mitzvah is the reason for the cruise, I should tell you guys what's going on. :rotfl:

Yep, got the money yesterday. I ended up taking the afternoon off and hit a big used car sale at the Pepsi Center in downtown Denver. I ended up finding a 05 Escape. Not the fanciest car in the world but it will get me from point A to Z for the next year or so when I can think about a new(er) car. I was able to pay cash...sometimes being an adult sucks...I REALLY wanted that new Escape. :)

Goodness! You are in full tilt party planning mode! The food sounds amazing...I may have to come crash the party!

BTW, can I send this rain somewhere else? We are floating away here in Denver!

I'm so glad you got the money and a car! :thumbsup2 2009 sounds pretty new to me. Photo please. Did you post one on FB? I'd love to see it. Our cars are 2009, 2007, and 2003. The last new car I owned was before I was married.

It should be a very nice time. Not big or extravagant but nice, casual, and filled with people we love. Crash away girl! There's always room for one more.

We got rained on yesterday and it's set to storm tomorrow. I'd love some rain because that way I won't have a garden full of veggies begging to be picked and won't feel guilty for not having time. Fun though, we've got two more watermelon and about 10 more pumpkins growing.

No picture yet...it hasn't stopped raining here for long enough to take one! I'll try to get one up this weekend...If we don't float away! We've had almost a years worth of rain in 36 hours!

Well our cars are 1936 (actually 1987), 1959, 1963, 1967, 1970, 1973, and then 2002 and 2003. I would really like something modern, but that doesn't seem to be happening, Fran wants to use the 1967 as our daily driver, but since it doesn't have a rear view mirror, I'm kind of against it. other than that I love the car. We are thinking of selling the 1973, but for what it's worth, not a bargain.
