The not so live version of dining w/ Disers, in Castles & on Safari! The Wrap! 2/26

I'm getting all caught up.

So I mentioned it on your TR, but you can call me Danielle or Dani, whatever you prefer. ;) I don't typically go by a nickname, but I don't go "No don't call me that!" either. Haha.

I love that you have Disney snacks on your way to Disney. That's incredible. I was munching on my Chip and Dale pretzels the other day and was like "oh Disney....I miss you......"

Mmmmmmm. Hummus. Good choice!

Really? The lounge offers the full Artist Pointe menu? That's amazing! And good to know.

Seriously, what's better than a pot of melted cheese? Um....not much.

Ask for Jeffro at WCC. Got it!

I am a big tea fan. I don't typically drink it at restaurants, but I drink tons of it at home. I'm obsessed with the Wonderland teas from Disney.

My Mom is from Belgium and makes Belgian waffles. I am very very picky about them because of that, so I'm always hesitant to order. However, Disney does make some great ones.

Okay, that is the second review of yours that I have read for breakfast at WCC, and I guess I am just going to have to convince Mark that we must give it a try. I WANT THAT MICKEY WAFFLE! I think as long as I tell him it's 12 hours away from dinner that he might be game.

Love the photo of you, Em and Jeffro with his Mickey Ears. :goodvibes

Thanks Kathy.... wait for it..... I think I see an answer on this coming....

Jeffro had to have his prop! That's about as wild as the man got so we were safe with him.

Okay I got caught up! I'm glad you enjoyed the fondue at TL! Was it thick and creamy or thin and kind of grainy? Just trying to figure out if we had a not so good batch as ours was the later.

Your breakfast looks good! I'm hoping to squeeze in a WCC breakfast as well as a lunch! I think Hunter would like the Pulled Pork with the egg!

Paula - the fondue was not grainy or too thin at all. It was perfect.

Michael had a previous incarnation of that pulled pork dish (a pork eggs benedict version) that he really liked. My hubby would never order waffles, pancakes, or French toast. It has to be protein and plenty of it. :)

Are the shenanigans less at breakfast than during other dining times? We have visited for lunch and found the antics a little bit much for us. I have heard that dinner can be even 'worse'. How is breakfast? I can do sarcasm and high jinx, I just don't like to have a heck of a lot of attention drawn to me.

The Mickey waffle does look good though - and much better to have one, big Mickey waffle than two little ones ;)

Joh I haven't been there for other meals so I'm not sure. They do the ketchup thing but other than that I've not seen much else. There is one boisterous server who yells across the room. I like a low key dining experience that's why I ask for Jeffro.

Exactly! Give me one big 'ole Mickey waffle!

Ooh can't wait to eat breakfast at WCC in December - yummy !!

Linda: Have you eaten there before? You eat healthier than me so I don't expect that we'll see a Mickey waffle on your plate!

I'm in!!!:dance3: Your DRs are always a treat. I somehow missed the live report, I don't know how I did that?:confused3

Glad to be on board now!:goodvibes

Yay! Thanks for joining!! I just started this thing so you haven't missed much - especially if you didn't catch these in the live dining thread. :)

I had no idea about the blue name tags and top CMs, good to know.

Now you'll be on the look out for those!

I showed this review to Mark and he saw the menu. He said if Brenda says it is good, then it must be good. He had me cancel Boma and make our breakfast ADR at WCC instead. You better not let me down girl. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh the pressure! Tell Mark that if he doesn't like it I'll buy him a hat of his choice! ;)

I sure Brenda would not give bad dining advice, enjoy WCC!

Exactly! Thanks Lori! :goodvibes

Oh where did Em get that adorable glittery tee? I would live to get them for myself & my girls.

You can be the lucky owner of that shirt if you head over to Forever21! They may even have it online still. :)

Ok, Danielle it is until I get punchy and start calling you Dani. (One of my daughter-in-law's is named Danielle so I can remember this!)

That's the problem with eating Disney snacks AFTER your trip. They can result in a melancholy feeling of emptiness and loss! :rotfl2:

Truly! Full AP menu at the lounge. What's better than a pot of melted cheese is a good chunk of pretzel bread and apples to dip in the cheese. Delish! :thumbsup2

I've not tried the Wonderland teas but I should since Em is a huge tea drinker.

Maybe you can answer this question... why are they called Belgian waffles when the country is Belgium?? People from Belgium are called Belgians and not Belgiams?? Inquiring minds and all.

Very valid question.

Same reason that something would be called American rather than America.

i.e. American made. We wouldn't say America made.

Adding an AN to the end of a noun indicates that something belongs to them. Possessive of sorts.

The Belgium waffle thing on menus actually makes me chuckle.

Aha! A good American (English) lesson! ;)

Hi Brenda! Somehow I missed your DR so thanks for posting the link on your TR. I'll have to go back and start from the beginning. Your dining lineup looks great.

joining here as well, jumping over from the trip report. Major props to you for keeping two reports straight!

The lounge looked great and a smart choice for a first night meal. Good to know they offer the full Artist Point menu as well. And major props again (or you can have a gold star instead if you prefer vs. additional props) for finishing your fire drink :thumbsup2

Hi Jill! No worries. This will help fill in blanks for my TR so if you miss it here there will be links. But THANK YOU for joining!! :)

Hi there Mr. MaxRebo! Ha ha! Let's just hope that I don't confuse my reports and posts! It could happen. :lmao:

The lounge was wonderful and no stress making an ADR for the first night this way. For that Bloody Mary, I think that after the first few sips I must have built a tolerance for it... that or the ice melted and diffused the "heat". Yikes. :crazy2:

Day 2: Aug. 17th – Tortuga Tavern lunch

null-3521.jpg

Tortuga Tavern was actually an accidental lunch since we only stopped by there to pick up a cold beverage. We were not necessarily hungry mind you and hadn’t thought through where we would stop for lunch. We figured once we were hungry we would go in search of food. FIRST MISTAKE… this uber planner had no lunch PLAN to counter impulse eating such as this!

Once we placed our drink orders the cashier asked if we’d ever tried their “amazing” nachos. Why no… it made us think perhaps we could split some “amazing” nachos. I’m certain that a CM would never steer us wrong. SECOND MISTAKE… taking the advice of a cashier who has likely been told to suggestive sell to customers who look weak and indecisive. Yep, we were victims of this needless scam.

We were handed our plate of “amazing” nachos at the window and in that moment I remembered that there’s no real cheese on nachos in WDW. Argh! The tortilla chips were covered in cheese goo. Ok, this may be fixable. I’ve heard there’s a fixings bar. I went in search of what options were available to make these a more palatable offering. For some reason I was thinking I was at Pecos Bills or some other CS that has pickles and onions, lettuce, tomato and other delightful toppings. No, this was Tortuga Tavern that has pepperoncinis, salsa, another salsa, a third salsa (likely all the same salsa, just three separate wells of salsa), shredded lettuce, and diced tomato. Oh and get this…. REAL shredded cheese. I wanted to take my nachos back and say yeah, can you scrape the goo off and just give me a plate of tortilla chips. I’ll pile on the real cheese and if you can nuke it that would be fabulous.

Chicken Nachos ($7.29)

So enough about the complaining regarding how these looked and the limited toppings to doctor these up…. How did they taste? Well…. The last adjective I would have used would be amazing. The chicken actually made them somewhat decent. After I added a pile of lettuce and a ribbon of sour cream and crushed up the tortilla chips it was a somewhat decent chicken tortilla salad. Em didn’t really eat too many. Between the two of us we couldn’t even finish a single portion of chicken nachos.

My disappointed face...I didn't quite pull that off. Just image that's what it is!

I texted Barb and said “there’s always a Mickey bar somewhere to make up for the blah meal.”

Next Up: Club Level Appetizers

Yep' blah' just about describes that. I'll eat pretty much any old rubbish but even I don't eat cheese goo.

Good reminder to research & plan! Love the story though! And yes, sometimes we do stumble on sweet surprises, but I find that to be rare. The nachos didn't look good, but you made the salsa bar sound pretty yummy. Can't wait for the next experience!

I have to say those don't look appetizing at all. I guess you should have just stuck with a cold drink. ;)

in future, whenever someone suggests that I'm an over-planner (who? me?? :rolleyes1) I will regale them with the tale of Brenda and Em's regrettable spontaneous encounter with over-hyped nachos and cheese goo. :crazy2: You have justified the necessity of planning our Disney dining my friend, thanks for taking one for the team! :cheer2:

How did I miss this!?!?!?!? I need that waffle. It looks amazing!

Jill in CO

Oh no I can't believe the cashier thought those were good. Can't wait to hear about the CL apps :)

Always love your reviews. Thanks for posting!

We're staying at the wilderness lodge in 24 days, and now I have to add territory lounge to our list!! Looks great:)

Al caught up. Breakfast at WCC looks great! If we ever stay at WL again, I'll make sure it's on the list. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I love cheese goo on nachos and fries. It's how DH convinces me to go to sporting events occasionally. I don't say no to nachos!

I have never been involved in one of your dining reviews and all I have to say is, where have I been? :confused3 And why did I not see them before? :goodvibes

Wonderful photos, fantastic food choices that I can't wait to devour and seriously, your writing stature is fantastic! Cannot wait for the future dining reviews!!! And, I have to add that I love dining reviews that include pictures of adult libations :thumbsup2

On that note, with your review of WCC, my family and I might consider trying it again. We went there for dinner one night in 2007 and had an "ok" time. The server didn't seem to want to really be there that night and the food was luke warm, at best. Your breakfast Mickey waffle looked like heaven and I so have a hankering for pecan butter now :rotfl:

Can't wait for the next report!!
