I'm new to DIS - so please let me know if I should be on another thread - nicely:rotfl: I would like to budget my money for the majority of the trip and would like to leave cash for tips. I'm confused w/the menus that I read re: the prices for buffets - most range between $36.00 to $59.00 or close to. Ok this is a buffet should'nt I beable to get the amounts for an adult buffet and child - We have buffet meals at the following:

Crystal Palace - breakfast - 2 adults and 1 child
Crystal Palace - LUNCH - 2 adults and 1 child
Tusker HOuse - BREAKFAST - 2 adults 1 child
Hollywood and Vine - Breakfast - 2 adults 1 child

Can anyone help me with what the cost of the buffet actually is??:worship:
Thanks for all of your help!!!!

I called disney yesterday and they know the exact amount for the time you are going..Just call and they can tell you..

we are a party of 7
we have the dining plan

when we eat at a TS restaurant, I am assuming the tip will automatically be included since we are a party of 7. Is this correct, and is it 18% or 20% that they will add to the bill? this can still be charged to our room, correct?

thanks!![/QUOTE

Yes for party of six or more 18% is added on, I am assuming if you are on the dining plan it will have the tip amount left over for you to either pay cash or charge..

The ONLY restaurants that include tip in the cost of the meal are:

Cinderella's Royal Table
The three dinner shows: Spirit of Aloha Luau, Hoop de Doo Revue, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue

Anything else, the guest comes up with the tip. No matter what Allears is saying, LTT does not include the tip in the cost of the meal at either lunch or dinner.

For parties of six or more, the tip amount is set automatically at 18% but it is not part of the cost of the meal, the guests must pay it in addition to the cost of the meal (except for the four events already listed).

Room service includes a service charge.

Two questions. Sorry if they have been asked before. Is the 18% and 20% tip options that Disney puts on the receipt based on the amount before or after tax? Also, if we are a party of 9 but want to split the bill into two separate bills (party of 5 and party of 4) will they still automatically add the 18% to EACH bill?
Thanks!

Not sure about the before tax or after, but I do know if you split the tip is still applied...

Exactly. You asked if it was true and I said no it wasn't true

I agreed with you..:) I knew the last time it was not included, but I seen on debs it sayed tip included..Which I knew wasnt but to be 100% positive I called...

the smiths (party of 5) have a bill of 150. the joneses(party of 4) have a bill of 100. the smiths added tip wil be 27 an the jonses tip will be 18. (each bill has a tip of 18% of that bill only added.) (if the bill had not been split, the tip would be 45. see it's the same either way.)

pre tax. All tipping in the US is based on pre tax amount, though most people tip on the full amount just by not paying attention.

You tip on the amount before taxes.

If you want to put the money for tips in envelopes, please make sure to take it out of the envelope before giving it to the server. They handle a lot of pieces of paper throughout the night and there is a good chance that it will get thrown away.
Good idea to take it to of the env. I never did the last time I will now for sure:thumbsup2

I was always wondering the same thing about tipping at WPE, I am a server but this place confuses me..It says QS but they do bring your food but you get your own drinks..Soooo are you suppose to tip something? You would think I of anyone would know but some places have my stumped...:confused3

You should tip, but you can probably tip a bit less than you normally would if you want.

I am not sure if this has been asked before...but here goes:

We usually do the DDP and use our Chase Visa Disney Rewards to pay for our tips. Our next trip will be our first trip without the DDP, instead we will be using TIW discount. Is it possible to pay for the meal with gift cards then use our Disney Rewards to pay for the tips????

Yes, just give both to the server and explain which you want to use for which one

I'm wondering the same thing..but can you pay tips with a giftcard? We are on the DDP so I am unsure how it works when it comes to the actual tips and if they have to charge them to our room, etc. Any ideas? Also, my idea is to buy them at Target so I can save a little money. ;)
