~~ Sew hot, Hot, HOT! ~~ A sweltering Aug 2013 TR ~ Pre-Trippie link posted! ~ 10/31!

Mmmmmmm..... Akershus. Such yummy food. We've done both breakfast and lunch there (not on the same day.) Can't wait to see what you ate.

Alli - thanks for sharing your photos! Hope to see some more!

I have fallen way behind AGAIN! :scared: D~, I am not sure exactly WHEN you make thread of the month...but it is bound to happen, I just know it! ::yes::

:cheer2: WELCOME ALLI!!! :cheer2: I was in your first Dismeet group in March of last year! :thumbsup2 We just hated that we didn't all get to spend more time together that night...but it had been a long day for all us of. :crazy2: Your pictures are FABULOUS! You and V and your mom are all so artistically talented! :artist:

Okay, back to comments for D~...

You made me SO HOMESICK for POR with your Riverside Mill pictures. That round table in the corner by the water wheel tht you all sat at? SAME TABLE we sat and had our very first Disney meal at last March!!! Remember this picture?

DSCN2279.jpg

Taken at the VERY SAME TABLE!!!

Yep, I miss my POR! I fear that since we are not going this year, and we are taking the cruise next year that by the time we go back to WDW our family will have outgrown the room at POR.   Gabe will be 9 or 10 years old by the time we go back! :faint:

So, in your Dismeet picture from last March....I look like I am flipping someone off. :confused3 Must have been a longer day than even I remember. :rotfl2:

Oh, and Liddy had her baby quite some time ago. Have you not seen the pics on FB? She had a beautiful baby boy!

I'm with you...don't like the new Test Track; much prefer the old one.

Love V trying on all the hats...very cute.

Sorry Alli lost her sunglasses. :(

You look good in your witches hat (and I mean that in the best way :goodvibes).

I'm curious to see what you think of your lunch at Akershus (Mark and I were not fans back in 2007).

And yes, it ws hot. It was very hot.

Another fun update! I NEED that Minnie witch hat lol! I love that you guys use the single rider line. We do too! It seems like you hardly ever hear of anyone doing that, but it's a real time saver!

Hi Sandra!!! I just figured you hadn't been feeling well... Super excited you are having a boy!!!!!!!!! COngratulations!

I've actually been feeling pretty good. Just got busy with school starting, cleaning, getting things ready for James and Sarah's birthday party (they are now 3 and 5!!), Jeremy's first Cub Scout Meet and now getting Sarah's Girl Scout Troop formed (that's happening tonight!!) I do get tired faster but that is to be expected so I've been trying really hard to go to bed earlier and not nap in the middle of the day so I can. Plus now Jeremy get's off school at 2 pm so there went my prime napping time!! He get's home, empties his backpack, eats his snack, does homework and then cleans up the living room for me. He's become such a big help!! Only one not too happy about having another boy is Sarah. She still says she hopes it's a girl!!! :rotfl:

Loved the hats. And the witch hat was really lovely I want won even my DH said it was really nice when I turned my comp around to show him....:)

D~ this will have to be my daily routine as well now. :)

I'm not a fan of the new TT only because I'm not into the design aspect of the car.

See? That headgear opens doors!! They really are adorable!

I prefer the front row for Soarin' as well... kinda ruins the scene when you see feet hanging in your line of vision. :)

Bummer that Alli lost her sunglasses. :worried:

Can't wait to see how Akershus worked out.

I tried to post from my kindle yesterday but it kept messing up. Using my phone now, so no quotes. Welcome Allison. I loved the pic of the back of the castle. We see so many pics of the front!
I was going to ask why you didn't take the boat back to FQ, but I are you already answered that one.
Glad you enjoyed the pasta bar!
We are at Caribbean Beach and have fallen in love with this resort! We are at the pool right now, but will be going to the dessert party tonight. Looking forward to the fireworks!

First off - Beautiful Pictures, Allison!

Great update and I can't wait to see what happens at lunch.

We just went on a mad hunt for a couple of pieces of clothing DH wants to take with him and I took a page from your planning. Our luggage is now in "his" room (the room with his RPGs, drafting table and action figures) with the stuff we know we are taking but don't need in the next week. I don't think we'll get to the massive pile you had, but then again it's just me and him and neither of us are teenaged girls. :rotfl:

D, I just finished reading from where I last checked in...wow, this report is moving right along.

Welcome, Alli! Can't wait to see your photos and hear a teens report of WDW. We have an Allie...my daughter Sarah..one of the triplets...is named Alicenne pronounced like Allison.

Sheila

Alli - Love the pictures - keep posting, I need ideas for dinner tonight

If that's what you are making for dinner - I will be right over!

Great picture of your house through the trees. : Who was the Architect?

Have a Great Day.

I love that one too~

26 DIS meets?? That rocks! How cool to meet that many in person! And you have the best smile in all of your pictures!

Thanks! I love meeting my Dis friends!

Of course, I did oooh over all the thread in the picture at the fabric store. Oh to have time to spend in the store and then time to make something with it all…

Christine

Haha... That is the COOLEST thread store ever... It was miles and miles of thread cones - simply amazing. All wound by Mr. Charlie there in the photo... He was wonderful!

D~ Have a great day at work!

I will never be able to stay at all the resorts although I would love too. It's so hard when you have favorites and want to do repeat stays. I've been thinking it might be nice to stay at POFQ again one of these days, maybe for an early March trip.

LOL - totally understand... I have the same problem with the parks. I am afraid to stay at another resort - or I know I will have a problem with those too. LOL

Happy Target day

I guess Alli will have to keep us all occupied after school??

Hahaha... I don't think she had time to hop on last night.

What a great start to your Epcot day! I loved all of the hat pictures in Mouse Gears.

Thanks! V had so much fun trying them on... I loved that Stitch hat on her.

Bummer that you didn't get to ride Soarin' twice but at least you were able to give another family a little pixie dust.

Yah - they were very excited, as they were JUST going to go over and pull their own FPs - so we saved them a trip back later.

The Halloween merchandise looks awesome, I can't wait to see it in person in a few weeks! Jim thought I was nuts last night watching the live stream of the Halloween party when we are going to be there soon. He just doesn't understand the Disney addiction.

Oh, no, hope you didn't have rain at Epcot!

LOL - I totally understand that need. The girls didn't understand - WHILE we were in Disney - why I had to have Stacey on the TV all the time. LOL :rolleyes1

Looking forward to hearing about your lunch at Akershus. We're eating lunch (to us, early supper) there for DGD's birthday. Can't wait.

Oooh - that update is next! And it's a good one!

Good thing you didn't have a long update for yesterday, I'm sure those replies took up all of your coffee time!!!!!

Yah - some mornings, my replies take an awful long time... but it's only fair that if people take the time to respond to my ramblings - I should at least adknowledge them. :thumbsup2

OMG, I LOVE THE WITCH HAT!!!! I must have one of those, although I'm sure it was WAAAAY expensive.....maybe just a pic then!

I don't remember looking at the price - but I just HAD to try it on... It was super cool. I had NO idea how I would get it home though. :confused3 It was huge - and I don't think it would fold down?

well of course someone would let you all in YOUR WALKING TALKING SEETHING in DISNEY!!!

Hahaha...

The food pic.... Allison.. that is an amazing shot. the depth to field ROCKS!!!

Awesome! Did you hear that Alli?

your doing good too D~...

Hahaha... Thanks!

My favorite? JACK SKELLINGTON!!! Holy cow all that stuff! i want it ALL!!! can't wait until next week when i will BUY IT ALL...

Yay!!! I want to see pictures of everything you get!

I'm back from vacation and trying hard to get caught up. I've read a couple of pages and have enjoyed the pics so much! Trying on all those hats is so much fun, isn't it? I've been under the weather, read sick as a dog, since vacay and am finally feeling a bit better today. Must have caught a bug on the plane.

Welcome back!!!!!!!!! I am so happy to see you! So sorry you are sick... Victoria came home from our trip under the weather too... cold/congested cough/plugged ears - but she started symptoms on the plane - so I think she picked it up in Disney? Even yesterday - she was still complaining that her ears hadn't popped yet. :confused3 I sure hope you are feeling better soon.

I just wanted to say hi and let you know i'm alive and well. I'll come back later to get really caught up. And I'm so glad to see that Alli has joined in the madness of the DIS. Welcome Alli! Now I must get some things I made shipped to the recipients and get busy with their next order. I hate losing days to illness. Take care and, like Arnold, I'll be baaack!

I hope you are able to get everything done! And feel better! :grouphug:

Great update!

Thanks!

What a great start on your EPCOT day I can't belive you were able to get 6 FP for Soarin. Just a shame you didn't have the time to ride it twice

Yah - it's OK though... I figure that if we couldn't ride it twice, at least we could pass on the pixie dust and let someone else use them.

I am guessing it was pouring by the time you were done with lunch. We were at Animal Kingdom this day and we looked like drowned rats within minutes after lunch.

Hi Shannon!!! I was thinking of you the other day, and I was going to seek you out... I haven't seen you much since we've been back. I hope you had a fantastic rest of your trip. Are you planning to to a TR?

Hi there,
Just stumbled upon your TR. Have to say your designs are adorable. Might have missed it from past threads/reports, do you have an Etsy site for all your designs?
Planning our family's first Disney vacation, your TR is really informative

Welcome!!! So happy to have another reader! And thank you for the compliments.

Mmmmmmm..... Akershus. Such yummy food. We've done both breakfast and lunch there (not on the same day.) Can't wait to see what you ate.

It was so fun!!! I will be sharing photos of Akershus today!

Alli - thanks for sharing your photos! Hope to see some more!

Alli - you need to go check out Sarah's blog... She has some great photos on there too.

I have fallen way behind AGAIN! D~, I am not sure exactly WHEN you make thread of the month...but it is bound to happen, I just know it!

Hahaha... I don't think that will ever happen. Thanks for the vote of confidence though.

WELCOME ALLI!!! :cheer2: I was in your first Dismeet group in March of last year! We just hated that we didn't all get to spend more time together that night...but it had been a long day for all us of. Your pictures are FABULOUS! You and V and your mom are all so artistically talented!

That was such a FUN Dismeet though! I was super excited to meet you and your family! And I am so glad we were able to.

Okay, back to comments for D~...

You made me SO HOMESICK for POR with your Riverside Mill pictures. That round table in the corner by the water wheel tht you all sat at? SAME TABLE we sat and had our very first Disney meal at last March!!! Remember this picture?

th_DSCN2279.jpg

Taken at the VERY SAME TABLE!!!

How awesome is that? Seriously... V picked the table - and it was right near the fountain drink refill station... I was like - wait a minute - if we are going to eat here, we must have a table with a view... So, I made the girls move to that table. LOL It was so pretty!

Yep, I miss my POR! I fear that since we are not going this year, and we are taking the cruise next year that by the time we go back to WDW our family will have outgrown the room at POR. Gabe will be 9 or 10 years old by the time we go back!

Oh no!! Will you stay deluxe then?

So, in your Dismeet picture from last March....I look like I am flipping someone off. Must have been a longer day than even I remember.

I didn't even notice - LOL

Oh, and Liddy had her baby quite some time ago. Have you not seen the pics on FB? She had a beautiful baby boy!

Yes - I did see that... THanks for letting me know though. I had actually written that post back in June, and just copied n' pasted it from my old PTR into this one, so I didn't lose it again. Didn't she have her baby in July? I thought it was quite a while before we left for our trip...???

I'm with you...don't like the new Test Track; much prefer the old one.

Yah - we rode it twice, but I really don't care for it. And I think the "design your own car" is just a time waster.

Love V trying on all the hats...very cute.

LOL She has always had a fascination with Disney hats - and when she was little, I always told her she could try them on and I would take her picture, but I wasn't buying them (tightwad... LOL) - ever since then, she has to try on every. darn. hat. Hahahaha...

Sorry Alli lost her sunglasses.

Me too! I was so bummed... It's one of the only things I have purchased for her that she's actually liked. LOL

You look good in your witches hat (and I mean that in the best way).

Hahaha - thanks! LOL

I'm curious to see what you think of your lunch at Akershus (Mark and I were not fans back in 2007).

I will be doing that update here shortly.

And yes, it ws hot. It was very hot.

That it was...

Another fun update! I NEED that Minnie witch hat lol! I love that you guys use the single rider line. We do too! It seems like you hardly ever hear of anyone doing that, but it's a real time saver!

Hahaha... That was an awesome hat!!! I really wanted to take it home, but I didn't think it would lay flat in our luggage.

Yes, the single rider is SUCH a time saver... And I certainly did NOT want to waste time in the new TT line - especially after we had experienced it and decided that we didn't like it nearly as much as we used to. So sad about that.

He's become such a big help!! Only one not too happy about having another boy is Sarah. She still says she hopes it's a girl!!! :

So glad you are starting to feel better... It's so hard when they go to school, it's nice to have that time off - but there is still so much to be done too! It sounds like you have a super busy life! And how awesome that Jeremy is so helpful!!! You are very lucky!

Loved the hats. And the witch hat was really lovely I want won even my DH said it was really nice when I turned my comp around to show him...

Hahaha.... Thanks Trish - and DH!

D~ this will have to be my daily routine as well now.

Hahaha, sorry to add another task to your daily routine... I am almost half done with this TR - then I will fade back in to the PTR section - Well, maybe... :rolleyes1

I'm not a fan of the new TT only because I'm not into the design aspect of the car.

That, and the old ride version is more realistic - all those black lights make my eyes go buggy. LOL

See? That headgear opens doors!! They really are adorable!

LOL - no kidding! I texted Jen right from the line, thanking her for the earlier FP return time. :woohoo:

I prefer the front row for Soarin' as well... kinda ruins the scene when you see feet hanging in your line of vision.

Exactly - why wait in such a long line just to look at someone feet? :confused3

Bummer that Alli lost her sunglasses.

I was bummed too... It's the only thing I've purchased for her that she's actually liked - welll, in the last year or so. LOL

Can't wait to see how Akershus worked out.

I will be doing that update shortly.

I tried to post from my kindle yesterday but it kept messing up. Using my phone now, so no quotes. Welcome Allison. I loved the pic of the back of the castle. We see so many pics of the front!

Hi Tess!!!! So happy to hear you are enjoying your trip!!! I cannot wait to hear all about it when you get home... Are you planning to do a TR?

First off - Beautiful Pictures, Allison!

Great update and I can't wait to see what happens at lunch.

I will be doing that update shortly.

I don't think we'll get to the massive pile you had, but then again it's just me and him and neither of us are teenaged girls.

Hahaha... That was a scary pile for a while there - I didn't think we'd get it all in. It did help that it was summer, so all we needed to pack was shorts and tank tops - so they took up very little room. Good luck getting everything packed!

D, I just finished reading from where I last checked in...wow, this report is moving right along.

Yah - I am just too overly excited to share it with everyone. LOL

Welcome, Alli! Can't wait to see your photos and hear a teens report of WDW. We have an Allie...my daughter Sarah..one of the triplets...is named Alicenne pronounced like Allison.

Sheila

Very cute spelling... I just love Sarah's triplets - they are so adorable! That's the third set of triplet parents I have posting in my TR (Mo's and Dee's too). How cool is that?

**********************************************************

Yesterday was a Target day... I went in a little early to do a bit of shopping... They had the perfect color tank top for one of my planned outfits for our next trip - on clearance. So I had to get it. Then a couple pairs of jammie shorts.

I was super busy all day, setting end caps - so my day went by very quickly. Which is how I like it. :thumbsup2

The girls met me at work after school, and we grabbed a few more things - frozen pizzas for dinner, and a couple of groceries we needed around the house.

When we were at home, Josh called to tell me not to make dinner - he was taking us out. Whoo-hoo! We NEVER eat out on week days. So, we went out for Chinese... It was good - and I didn't eat much - but whoa! I left stuffed... I hate that feeling.

So, I forced myself to go for a walk last night - which I hate doing, because I DESPISE the hills in town - and they are unavoidable. But I did it anyway, and I felt better after.

Today I will be working on the last little bit of my applique for my current custom order. Then I plan to start some pre-assembly, and hopefully the final assembly. With any luck - I hope to finish this afternoon.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

We were almost to our lunch ADR - Akershus... We have never eaten there before - and this was a last minute addition to our schedule. As most of you know from my PTR - I really struggled with where to eat lunch this day. First it was Chefs de France... Then it was Biergarten... Still struggling with my choice 1 week before we left - I saw this ADR open up for Akershus... So I grabbed it.

We checked in for our meal, and found a shady spot to sit outside.

IMG_0729.jpg

We didn't wait long when a nice looking Norwegian CM called us in. I think the girls were rather excited about this? They may have had hopes that he was our server? Ahhh, but it was not to be - our server was female.

We had our photo done with Belle... Who went crazy over all of our gear... Then she called over her handler and the PP photographer and continued to show them all of our stuff. It was pretty neat!

1235cn_20130831_12520407.jpg

We were seated with a veiw of the buffet... There were 3 tables here, so we were kind of by ourselves. I was a little concerned about the location - but it wasn't that bad, no one was ever seated at the 3rd table while we were there.

IMG_0730.jpg

IMG_0731.jpg

Our view of the buffet:

IMG_0732.jpg

We ordered our food and visited the buffet... It was a nice refreshing buffet. The girls especially loved the assortment of meats and cheeses... And of course - we are carbivores - so the bread was very good.

Before we knew it, the Princesses started to come around... Some of these princesses we had seen SEVERAL times at this point - Cinderella seemed a little disappointed that the girls didn't feel it necessary to have their picture taken with her... So reluctantly they stood up to have their picture done - as they did for the rest of the Princesses - so not to not make the Princesses feel bad. LOL

IMG_0733.jpg

IMG_0734.jpg

IMG_0735.jpg

IMG_0737.jpg

It was kind of nice that the Princesses came through while we were eating from the salad bar, so that once our food came - we were able to eat our food with out the disruption. LOL - We were hungry!

Alli ordered the open faced chicken sandwich with some sort of potato soup. She liked it, but thought it was very awkward to eat with out a top to hold on to, so she mostly picked it apart and ate each item individually.

IMG_0738.jpg

Victoria ordered the Traditional Kjottkake (meatballs) - she LOVED them!

IMG_0739.jpg

And I ordered some sort of beef sandwich - which isn't listed on the Allears menu - so I don't know what it's called? But it was beef and it had blue cheese on it. It was very good.

IMG_0740.jpg

Clean plate club for V - which NEVER happens in real life! So, this is a monumentous occasion!

IMG_0741.jpg

Mmmm... And the desserts... I'd forgotten how good these were - until I looked at the picture just now. LOL They were so good - we asked for seconds of the dessert tray, even though we were full. I wish I could share a favorite - but they were all different and all delicious.

IMG_0742.jpg

We ate our dessert, settled our "bill" - and off we went... Uh-oh... It had rained while we were eating. Great...

Off we went around World Showcase... We stopped in China to visit Mulan...

IMG_0743.jpg

Then we stopped at the Park Map Bracelet stand, as Victoria wanted to pick out a bracelet (or 3). She talked me into buying 2 of them for her, and she purchased one herself. They are super cute - and a fun story to tell.

While we were there... Guess what... We were there for a long while... Yup - it rained... We should just expect that while we are in WS in Epcot.

20130824_134527.jpg

Then we headed to France to grab treats for later... Have I mentioned lately that it was HOT? It was very, VERY, VERY HOT!

V and I ordered Napoleons, and Alli had something else? I don't remember what. But they packed them all "to-go" and off we went...

I looked at the time, and figured we better start heading to the front of the park. We were on a mission!

So, we hopped on the Friendship boat in Morocco...

IMG_0744.jpg

It was SOOOO hot by now... Hot enough that we were trying to duck into any building we could on our way to the front of Epcot, just to cool down for a few minutes. It really sucked.

It was only an accident that we stumbled upon Club Cool... Shoot - we didn't have the time - but while we were there... We really must... OK - girls make it quick...

We were headed to the Monorail... A photo as we passed under SSE:

Rut-Roh... Did I just say "monorail?" :scratchin And we needed to be somewhere??? :moped: And this somewhere was VERY important... ::yes:: Great...

<--------- New avatar pic... What do you all think? I think I need to redo it once our PP cd comes and maybe the photo won't be so blurry?

D~

OK - sorry for hogging my TR this morning... But I really felt this was post-worthy...

So, just a minute ago - I walked out to the kitchen to get my water ready for my morning work out... I glance into the livingroom... I guess someone fell asleep this morning while studying...

LOL
20130912_073532.jpg

Poor Maxy-Moose... It's tough work learning English... (nevermind that he isn't supposed to be on the furniture...)

D~

Would love to know more about the park map bracelet. Where do you fine them, how much do they cost, and what do they look like. This sounds like an interesting concept.

OK - sorry for hogging my TR this morning...

I didn't think it was possible to hog your own trip report.

And I ordered some sort of beef sandwich - which isn't listed on the Allears menu - so I don't know what it's called? But it was beef and it had blue cheese on it. It was very good.

IMG_0740.jpg

Looks good. I love the combination of beef and bleu cheese, so I'll probably order that when we go next month.

Even though you order the entrees from the menu, isn't everything one price for adults (and a little cheaper for those under 9)?

:wave2: Hello there! I feel like such a slacker. I have been here reading along in bits and pieces every chance I get. But, between being swamped at work and not having time to DIS and having evenings filled with activities I just haven't had time for proper responses. :crazy2: Not to mention...things are so fast paced over here on the D~ report, that it's so very easy to get behind quickly.

So... just a few notes...probably TOTALLY out of order:
  • Totally digging the head gear in all the pictures. The character mouse ears are my favorite. it was great to see Alli finally put her head gear on for a few pictures. Silly teens!
  • I hate that you and Alli both were feeling sick at the Dessert party and had to skip out early!
  • Speaking of Alli - The pictures she posted are fabulous. I LOVE the one of the castle framed by the trees...totally FRAME-WORTY! And that food picture....OOOOHHH YUMMY!
  • Sorry to hear about all the monorail troubles. I'm afraid that today's post ended with some foreboding of what is to come regarding the monorails.... :sad2:
  • Park map bracelets?!? I am going to need more info on this! I have never heard of them. Can you post some pictures? Cost? Description?
  • Akershus - LOVE that restaurant! We had such a wonderful experience there in 2011. I would definitely go back. I thought the food was good and the princess interaction was an added bonus.
OK...that's all I can remember off the top of my head. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to read more. In case you don't see me comment...please know that I am still following along and very much enjoying reading your TR!!!

I don't think we took any photos of V's Park Map bracelets - if we did - they will be posted later in the TR. Now that we are home, she wears them every chance she gets - they are fun and make for excellent conversation.

Hopefully The Dis allows this link to be posted - here is a bit more info and photos about them. They are really cool. Even though it was $30+tax for her 3 bracelets, the $$ went for a worthy cause. :)

Ooh I need to look into the bracelets, they sound cool. The Akerhaus lunch looks awesome. We have never eaten there for Breakfast or lunch but we love their dinner.
