October 2013 - Car Rental

Jenjersnap: where are you seeing this? I selected specials, and Orlando but my rate us still $38/day

Yes, it went up since I ran the numbers this afternoon. :(. With the additional 4 hours, it was $118 all in but now it is $150 for some reason. Keep trying. It can be a moving target sometimes. If I see anything else, I will post. I am certainly not pushing Dollar, they are not my favorite car rental by any means.

Also, there IS a Dollar location at MCO. Orlando has two locations: MCO and the Wyndham. Glad you have done your due diligence and know this.

Just an idea: search this thread for Firefly Car Rental. They are starting up operations on 9/15 and are affiliated with Hertz. They are a total unknown because they haven't started business yet but it might be worth a look. I am holding a reservation for them pending reports after 9/15.

We need a minivan in late Sept/Early Oct from Pensacola to WDW. Alamo is still at over $1600 for those dates, even with insider discount. Yikes! :scared: I have a MUCH better deal being held through Budget (about $400) but I'm worried about Budget drop off. It appears to be located at Double Tree Suites by Hilton on Hotel Plaza Blvd. Anyone experienced with this drop off location?

Currently have a Mini Van for 4 days in October through Dollar at price that I can live with however I am always checking Dollar and others for a better price. The last two days the Dollar rates have gone up (at least for my date/car). I have only tried 3 codes (AAA, Magic Card and Kiss2) but each rate is different and higher than what I currently have. I hope the trend doesn't continue though I know for our trip to DLR in June booked several months out with Alamo and was never able to top that deal even as the date got closer.

I wish Dollar would lower for our dates!! It always fakes me out but then the taxes are so much! I currently have National with the KLM code for a minivan October 12-20 for $349, but hoping for lower!

Thanks so much! I'll keep looking and check into Firefly

hi

dollar via AAA link on their website was $150 - something all in today when I checked but don't believe a 2nd driver is covered and the $10/day kills that deal for us.

as for coupons codes, i'd like to think so but the new website is so skittish i'd be afraid to try and change the code. In the past I was able to change coupon codes by calling but cannot remember if it was national or Alamo, sorry. Trying to apply a good coupon is the one time i'd suggest 'calling' however, I still can't get anything but an upgrade to work @ MCO.

Thanks! I called and had the coupon removed with no problem. It did not affect the base rate, so that was a big relief.

I am not finding any other coupons (besides that Amex coupon) that is valid for her dates. Wonder when they will release the next batch!?!? All the coupons on Mousesavers are for rentals for Aug & Sept!

Still feeling extremely grateful that you had posted that deal a couple of months ago.

Hello..I need advice, as Ive never rented before at Dis. I currently have two reservations.

OCt 13 10am - Oct 17 7:30pm
MCO

Mid Size thru National all in $209.53 (including LDW full and SPI) using KLM code

Standard thru Dollar for $115 including taxes, but no insurances using AAA code.

My car insurance does include rental coverage. Which is better? if someone dings or scratches the rental, will they charge me my deductible at Dollar? Im not sure which one to take. Also I know Dollar will hold $250 on my cc, will National or do they simply run the CC for the amount of the rental?

Any advice is appreciated.
Steph

Are you using a Visa or Mastercard for your rental? It might be worth checking your card paperwork since some credit cards include rental insurance coverage automatically when you pay for the rental with the card. (I know both of my Mastercards and my Visa card have this coverage included). It's honestly worth checking since you could save some money if you don't have to worry about the extra daily fee for insurance thru the rental agency.

As for how the company's will factor damage, sorry, I can't help you there. I've not dealt with either company.

Woohoo!! You are awesome! Just figured out how to apply that code and now for the 8 day rental $169.xx all in! :woohoo:

I'll chime in since I believe we have the same dates: Oct 5-12. Thanks to a heads up on here by Kieshashadow back in JULY, I was able to snag that rate. I haven't seen anything come close to that since then (at least with Alamo). I check every day or every other day. Good luck!

I agree, it's not always best to wait.

I now have a rate of $250.69 with hertz using code 175372 (which is from a corporate website) for oct 24-nov 4 for a compact. Is that about as good as I'm going to get?

I think there's a very good chance it will go down. I usually see prices go down about 3 weeks prior to the travel dates. I'd start checking rates daily towards the end of this month. Good luck!

What dates are you using? We are going 10/15-21 and I'm getting well over $200 using the coupon code and Insider.

eight days, 10/5 - 10/12

I agree, it's not always best to wait.

So many here post they do wait and it works out well for them:confused3just never been the case for me. I tend to see the best rates three months prior.

Booked a needed minivan:crazy2: for January trip with National in June, it hasn't dropped yet. Used KLM & $30 coupon $313 for 8 days. haven't booked a van in years, no idea if that's a 'good' rate or not but i'm holding onto it for now.

In the past the rates would rise dramatically after I booked, then drop a month or so out and again a week or two prior but rarely would my final rate be much lower than initial one unless I used a dicey code. Not sure if that pattern will hold this year for October dates or not since I didn't see a drop last week.

For those still digging it's a good idea to keep watching the month's prior thread (i.e. September) for trends.

I have to agree with keishashadow, it's better not to wait. October can be very unpredictable when it comes to rental cars. I am very loyal to National (Exec. member and I try to keep it), but last year I had to walk away from them because their rates never dropped for my October trip. I've also seen storms come in and impact their rentals too. I say book something you can live with and hope it drops as you date gets closer. I find my personal threshold of what I will accept has been rising over the last few years.

I currently have a minivan rented through Budget at Disney's Maingate Offices (3011 Maingate Ln) for October 15th - 22nd. (Returning to MCO) for $270.

I used the travelocity code: X474200

We are staying at AoA, the rental location is only 4 miles away from our resort. They offer pick up service at some Budget locations, so we will either set this up, or take a quick taxi to get the rental.

Wow-where on property is this located? Thanks!
