The military discount works at all resorts, including villas, although a particular resort may not have availability on a given date.
Good to know, Disney's website said select resorts so I didn't want to assume.

After a quick check for the 20 - 25 Jan 14, you could get AoA Family Suite, five nights, for $1063.13 (with 30% discount, including tax, weekend night at higher rate). 1 Q bed, 1 D table bed, 1 D sofa bed.
For the same dates, you could get 2BR at OKW for $2085.75 (with 40% discount, including tax). 1 K bed, 2 Q beds, 1 Q sleeper sofa, 1 T sleeper chair. Full kitchen included.
For the difference in space, privacy, etc., and with a few months to save, I would try for the 2BR, if I could make the numbers work.
Thanks for pricing it out for me! I will look into both of those. Do you know if any of the DTD hotels have 2 br suites? I stayed somewhere one time that had 2 brs & a kitchen in the middle. That would be perfect! Not sure how the bus service is for the DTD hotels compared to the resorts either. Thanks for all of your help!
I knew it was a long shot trying to fit us all in there . I would love to stay at AOA but military discount does not include the standard rooms. I'm sure we could make it work in the family suite but I want everyone to be happy for a better trip! I am thinking 2 standard rooms at All-Stars will be our best option plus it will cost less. I really don't know what he needs a kitchenette for. He's not going to cook. I guess I could just price them for him & let him know. Do any of the AS resorts have kitchenetts? I may look into Shades of Green but I'm sure their family suites are like AOA, only 1 br.
It's really a matter of personal comfort. When I was younger we stayed with a ridiculous amount of people in a room when we went skiing. Now that I'm 41, I need a touch more privacy and a real bed, not a pull-out couch.
A lot of things depend on the personalities of the people involved. Can you rent 2 rooms under the military rate? I was under the impression that the military person (or spouse) had to be in the room.
I have no idea what he needs a kitchenette for either, the only thing it really adds is a microwave, all the rooms have fridges (I guess I should say, will have their fridges back by then). He isn't going to be cooking much in a microwave. They are more helpful for those with young kids who need to heat up baby food or something. The villas have full kitchens which I do see the point of, and as someone else pointed out, you may want to run the numbers and see if you can swing saving for them. If not, I would go with two standard rooms.
Agree. FYI, up to three rooms can be booked at the military rate. Makes it nice to be able have family/friends join in the fun!
