Hi everyone! I do have some questions regarding food on the Fantasy. We have a few picky eaters in our family.
I am so glad I found this site a few months ago. Our family is so excited to be going on our first Disney cruise in November!!
We've cruised twice on RCL and once on NCL and loved it. We know DCL is going to be fantastic! I've loved reading all the tips posted on this site. So very helpful in all aspects of planning!! :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if they serve pancakes or the plain Mickey waffles for breakfast? I've seen the chocolate waffles but couldn't find any info if there are plain ones.
Pizza....can you get pizza and hot dogs for lunch and dinner or late night snack anywhere? I see pizza is up by the pools but not sure how late those places are open or if there's other places to get pizza.
BBQ....I see there is BBQ at Castaway Cay. Is there BBQ like pulled pork, ribs, or anything BBQ on the ship itself?
Ice cream...is there any place to get a milkshake even if at an additional charge?
If you don't want to do the sit down dinner in the MDR, is there a cafeteria type of place with a dinner buffet? There was one on the Freedom ship with RCL and it was great when we didn't want to use the MDR. Hoping DCL has something too!
Thanks to all for any info you can provide!! We are counting down the days!

At the buffet every morning there will be either pancakes or waffles or French toast. I believe in the MDR that has the sit down breakfast you can get any of these everyday (someone will correct me if I'm wrong).

If you check the Navigators, it will show the hours of operation for the pizza (quick serve), hot dog locations onboard. I think room service also has pizza, I'll have to check. Room service is 24/7. EDIT: OK, room service has cheese, vegetarian and pepperoni pizzas.

Some of the menus will have BBQ items on them, specifically the Pirate menu.

I don't know about the milkshakes.

The buffet is a sit down table service for dinner (except for the first and last nights of the cruise). They serve select items from the other menus being served in the MDRs that evening. You can go anytime during their serving hours, not just at "your" dinner seating time.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! This information is wonderful!! Just wanted to have some info ahead of time to be a bit prepared. They do eat other items too but these are always some basics that I like to be able to rely on when all else fails!
I've also heard you could request the ice cream Mickey Ears through room service. Do you know if this is still the case? We are going with a group of folks and that's a favorite for several folks!

Yes, Mickey bars from room service. And you can also get them in the MDRs (they are on the kids menu).

My personal favorite from quick serve is the chicken strips. In fact, that's my mid-afternoon snack (every day).

Yes! We had Mickey bars delivered to our room a couple of times. Just have a couple ones to tip.
Also anyone can order off the children's menu. They have simpler chicken, steak, & fish dinners available every night on the adult menu too! They will take care of you with many requests.

Excellent!! Thanks again for all the info you provided! Truly appreciated!! I know a cruise is a great time to try new foods but it's comforting to know that some favorites are available as a good ol' standby!! :)

What are the normal hours for the breakfast buffet & lunch hours on the Fantasy?

What are the normal hours for the breakfast buffet & lunch hours on the Fantasy?

After looking at recent Navigators it appears that Cabanas (buffet) is open (on sea days) for Continental breakfast 7:00-7:30am, with full buffet breakfast 7:30-11:30 am. Lunch is 11:30 am - 2:00 pm.

Port days the times are earlier (depending on what time the ship will be in port). Continental breakfast 6:15-6:45 am, full buffet 6:45-10:30 am. Lunch 12:00-2:15 pm.

When we first cruised we encouraged our picky eaters to try some different things. It was a great opportunity because unlike a restaurant there was no additional expense if we had to fall back on something else if/when it didn't work out.

I'm not POSITIVE that it would work, but on my packing list for all trips is this handy little gadget I got at Williams-Sonoma, (but likely available elsewhere too)... my Aerolatte milk frother. I can whip up any kind of milk into a nice foamy top for my fluffy coffee, and it does say that it will do a milkshake. I'm skeptical that it has enough power for a really thick one, but I'm thinking using soft serve and a decent amount of milk would yield you a satisfying replica. Worth a shot! And if not, as I've said, it works really well for a non-barista cappuccino for vaca - it's compact and easy to pack, and goes just about everywhere with me:goodvibes
