New Disney parks

I heard rumors that Disney is going make new parks in Texas, Hawaii, Detroit, Mexico, Canada, South America, Russia, Australia, Korea, Vietnam, and Israel. Am I imaging it all?

Imaging, I don't know. Imagining it, yes.

But since you start these "I heard" threads with no source and never return to comment again, I probably shouldn't have bothered to answer.

I agree, this poster loves to start these *I heard* threads all the time, just on the edge of a *touchy issue*, looking to start a debate/fight.

Never any back up!

If Disney wanted to build in TX, they could have done it. Outside Houston, Grand Texas has begun construction on a 640 acre theme park. Virtually next door to it sits 1600 acres for a second theme park (Earth Quest) which may never get off the ground due to funding issues. That's 2240 acres in one spot and there is more land nearby. Enough for Disney to have put in something quite amazing. They didn't do it, so that tells me the 30+ year old rumors of another Disney near Houston are meaningless.

Sure, WDW is much larger than that, but Disneyland and Universal Orlando aren't.

I actually think a Texas park would be a hit. For a lot of people in this part of the country, going to either coast is not easy or even possible. Plus, we have TONS of wealthy Mexicans who come here for no other reason than to spend money. Lots of money. The weather is very similar to Florida's. Hot as blazes in the summer, but rarely that cold in the winter....at least in Houston. There's a large local population and if you placed a park within 45 minutes of IAH, it would be easy for those who fly in.

But I don't think it will ever happen.

I don't think there will be another domestic Disney park that isn't in Orlando or Anaheim. I don't really think they're going to build another domestic park at all. They like demand right where it is and don't want to cannibalize that at all.

The big problem is the money they bring has all that white powder on it! It spends well, maybe too well, but that white stuff causes all kinds of problems!

Not even a third or fifth gate?
Most people think those are possible and even quite likely at some point in time. What most people don't believe is that development will ever start at another site domestically.

You forgot about the one in Antarctica. That is more likely than any of the others.

Yes, they are building these and I have also heard that they all will be connected by a monorail. ;)

Wow...who would have thought that this thread would have gotten both the "I think they should build in Texas" AND the racist "freeloadin'" jokes...

...stay awesome, Texas

Yes. Every wealthy Mexican is involved in the drug trade. Totally not a stereotype.
