Magic: November 1, 2013 5 night Western

Has anyone looked - VGT/OGT/IGT was just released for our cruise

Thanks! I did take a look. Not good enough for us to cancel and rebook - we did do that on the May PC and saved $600 even after the penalties, plus moved from an inside to a verandah. Our original cost for this one for the 2 of us 11C was $1256.46. It is now $1121.46 IGT. But we would lose our OBC for booking onboard and we would lose our deposit, which was not much, but together that would make it a wash.

I preemptively cancelled our cruise before PIF date because I thought it might happen - luckily our gamble paid off :) Now we will just have to wait FOREVER for a room assignment

Thanks for the heads-up. We're in the same boat as you, Angie (Ha! pun intended :lmao:). By the time you factor in OBC, the re-book discount and lost deposit it's not worth throwing fate to the winds. Though I've never done it, checking for an upgrade at port is awful tempting.

Clever move. If there was going to be a cruise with igt/ogt/vgt rates released it would be ours. I have to admit I'm really looking forward to a more quiet cruise on a smaller ship after our double dip on the Dream last July.

On a different note, I was going to submit a topic of conversation to the group.

What part of the Magic's renovation are you most looking forward to?

Just to start, I'd have to say the addition of Carioca's is a big plus for me. How about you?

:thumbsup2 Nice! We are gty anyway, so will be waiting for room assignment with you. I do have to say though...we have found NO bad rooms and have been GTY several times. We have been forward, aft, decks 5,6,7. We have been directly across from the laundry room (which some people say is not a good location, but I loved it!) and in May we were right across from the room where the hosts store luggage. That also is considered a "noisy" room, but it was only first evening and last evening. Both nights they were done with the luggage transfers before we went to bed, so no noise problem there for us either.

I know I will be considered a bad, bad Disney Cruise fan, but..:scared:..I do not know what the new renovations are except they have added a slide, which I am sure our son and grandson will be enjoying. I have not done a lot of research on this and plan to just explore and see what is new. :goodvibes

Speaking of grandson, I am plan to add him to our FE. They are not in our stateroom, but I will just put him on ours. He is turning 14 on this cruise. Hope that is ok with the other FE participants. :flower3: We will let him "pat the FE" to see what he finds. :cool2:

Don't be silly. Of course it's alright. Children really get the most out of the FE exchange.. well... and those adults who never really grew up. :rolleyes1

Laugh at me if you will...we were originally booked on the dream. Then when they had the reveal of certain upgrades and my son saw the avengers part of the club..we called that same day to switch! Im.nervous and excited to try aqua dunk.... the new restaurant will be cool. They are doing the buffet Cabanas style now too, right? I always loved Cabanas

Hello Everyone!!! Has anyone talked about linking dining???

We are already linked with our friends who recently decided to join us :) We are main dining though so I guess we will be on similar schedules.

On our past few cruises I found that hubby and I would retire to a lounge after dinner while the kids played in the clubs for awhile, We would love people watching buddies

You can still link with the group. A table for you with your friends can be requested within the larger group. Everyone would be in the same area of the restaurant on the same rotation. If you want, of course.

Linking reservations would be fantastic. That is something we've never done before but would love to try. What does linking entail? Just dining location or other activities?

We enjoy second seating. Can't have dinner interfere with tastings schedule. pirate:

Just dining. Linking will seat you together at tables or groups of tables if there is a large group. It is a nice way to get to know others. One person on late and one person on early would need to take care of linking. It involves getting names and reservation numbers of those who want to link and then getting that info to your TA if you have one or DCL if you do not have a TA. That person would also need to let the TA/DCL know if there are families/friends within that group that want to be seated at a table together. Sounds more complicated than it is - just make a list with the info and get that info to TA/DCL. Last cruise they did not have us at the table with our group as requested, but we went to dining manager as soon as we boarded and got it straightened out.

That sounds simple enough. Thanks for the explanation. Perhaps we'll get some more late diners.
