Hi all!

I need recommendations on the best way to get from POP to the Grand Floridian for dinner at 1900 PF.

We'll have a car but thinking of leaving it at the TTC for the midday break and bus /monorail after the break to get to dinner, then fireworks at MK to close out the night.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks!

I would probably drive back to Pop for the mid day break and then drive to the GF. From there I would take the monorail to and from MK. That way if you decide to not go to MK after dinner you still have your car. That being said we usually have a car so don't use the buses often. I guess I would be worried about getting to the GF on time for dinner. We always take longer to get ready then I think it should. I do remember the parking lot at the GF was a bit far from the entrance but you can always have the driver drop you off if you are traveling with little ones.

Pop to mk via bus and hop on monorail to gf, or if your pressed for time mears taxi is $14 :)

Thanks to both! Sounds like using Disney transportation may take a lot of time... perhaps I'll drive. How long can I keep my car there if I decide to drive and park at the GF? My ressie is at 6pm.

Hmmm.....interesting....
My taxi fare from POP to the GF was $18 before tip. :)
I'm assuming it was a Mears taxi, it was one that POP arranged. ;)

I wanted to share an email from Orbitz that I received today, Monday, August 26, 2013 for hotel discounts of 20% and specifically, WDW of 15% plus 20%.

I already have resort reservations, but I input into Orbitz search, Walt Disney World as a location for prices for days in early December and they listed all of the WDW Resort's costs inside WDW and not outside WDW. That is what I wanted to see.

I just like to compare WDW to discounts to Orbitz discounts and their nightly rates.

I noticed that the resort at Disney Pop Century Resorts, and maybe all of them were already 15% discounted by Orbitz.

I compared prices to the Walt Disney World Resort website for prices on the same day and they were $128.00 per night on Saturday, November 30, 2013, and $108.00 on Sunday, December 1, 2013. Both WDW and Orbitz had the same non-discounted costs.

I know that these sounded a bit high from last year. Thank goodness for discounts at WDW.

I have a WDW annual pass and compared the current WDW annual pass 15% discount for the same days, and they were $108.80 per night on Saturday, November 30, 2013, and $91.80 per night on Sunday, December 1, 2013.

Other WDW annual pass discounts were 15% value, 20% moderate, and 30% Deluxe and Villas, if you were interested in those discounts.

I just checked for Disney Pop Century Resort discounts.

Anyway, Orbitz price with the automatic 15% discount shows Saturday= $108.80 and Sunday= $91.80, too. Same as WDW 15% discount.

But Orbitz offered a special extra 20% discount.

Orbitz cost $87.04 per night on Saturday night, November 30, 2013, and $73.44 on Sunday night, December 1, 2013.

A good price.

Orbitz = $87.04 per night on Saturday, November 30, 2013
WDW = $108.80 per night on Saturday, November 30, 2013
Orbitz = $73.44 per night on Sunday night, December 1, 2013
WDW = $91.80 per night on Sunday night, December 1, 2013

I hope that someone can use this discount. It is only good on Orbitz for 3 days from today, August 26, 2013.

Let me know if you used Orbitz with this discount, especially for moderates or Deluxe and even outside WDW.

As a reminder to everyone, I received this Orbitz email, today, August 26, 2013 and it is good for three days for the extra 20% discount. I did not add the 11.5% Pop Century Resort taxes so as not to confuse anyone. I like seeing the nightly rates without all the taxes.

Sincerely, Ray :)

That is a great rate for pop!! Will keep my eyes peeled if anything like that extends to april. If disney doesnt discount his would be the way to go. Thanks for that info:(

I left for work last night and forgot to check my mail, lo and behold I checked it a few mintutes ago. Inside I found a nice big awesome piece of Mickey Mail. :goodvibes:banana::thumbsup2

We're staying 9/25-10/2. We'll be the ones with Disney tshirts on. Lol

We will be the ones with large bellies from eating too much on the free dining plan. Typically put on 10-12 lbs. Takes a good 2-3 weeks to lose it after we get home. Lol.

Any idea how long it takes to get from MCO to POP on DME? Our flight's arrival time is 12:30p. Trying to decide our plans for that afternoon/evening but I'm not sure when we should expect to actually get to the resort...

In December it took me about an hour and a half from when I landed until when I got to POP Century. Now I got my own luggage which took some time, and I had to go to the DME desk as my TA had accidentally threw away my paperwork instead of mailing it to me. On the other hand, when I did get in line I was immediately put on a bus and we left within a few minutes. So I would plan on it taking 1.5 hours just to be safe.

What's the latest on the fridges at POP? (I arrive 9/5). Anyone been there in the past week or currently there? Were you offered any compensation if the fridge wasn't available?

From what I have heard from others in the planning group who are checking in later they have received letters saying no fridge will be available. Others have said that at check in they asked for the credit for not having a fridge and got one. Some say they have not.

I arrived on the 18th, asked for compensation and got it. My sister arrived on the 25th and asked for compensation and got it, but you do have to ask. :goodvibes

I am here now asked for a fridge or compensation and they have me a fridge. No sign of new fridges being put in yet.

Your going to get a song and dance. We had a new fridge in our first room. When we came back from the cruise we had the old fridge. Dh requested on since we are here for 12 days and basically lied to and told no rooms on property have fridges. Needless to say my parents were in building 4 and we were in building 5 and they had a fridge and we just still had the old one. Dh finally went and got us a fridge he talked to a manager.

I will say I think this will be our last year at pop. We booked a 7 day fantasy cruise and booked the free dining BB already. But we are going to stay moderate next year. The food court has pretty much stunk. I haven't had one meal I have enjoyed. I tried a couple of new things and :confused3. Not sure what is going on with the food court and they have one station closed all the time. Not impressed. I understand it is a bit slower this week. Dh wants a bacon cheeseburger not a southwest burger.

I agree I love pop a lot but the food court has fallen. My top issues so far being here now is they don't offer an adult size milk other then whole milk. If you want anything other then whole your choice is a pint or half gallon. Also they no longer sell the 1 liter bottle of water. I always got one for the room incase one of us didn't feel well overnight and could drink some fresh cold water better then sink water when your not feeling well.

Friends of mine are staying at POP for 2 nights. I stopped by tonight and they had to request a medical fridge for their DD's antibiotic. They did not have a new fridge in their room and they are in building 1. They were also able to get a boxed fan for free.

Also they are selling the new mugs (orange, purple, and green) but the machines are not turned on yet. People were still able to use the old mugs (pink, teal, and black). Not sure when they will turn on. We're staying on Friday for a night with QSR DDP so I guess we'll find out.

The food court looked sparse IMO. They used to have so many more options + the cooler cases looked very bare compared to how it used to be. I also wish they had the old menus back..or some of them at least..Mom's Night Out.

The front desk was FILLED with CMs and managers..the most I've probably every seen there which seemed odd for a Tuesday but I'm sure it's a lot of helping hands with the MB. They had the MB on a rack behind the front desk that you could see.

I asked the CM about ours being delivered and she said they will arrive around 2:30am the day you check in and will be waiting. We got email confirmation today that they will be waiting at the desk on Friday.

That's it for now, I'll post more during our stay Friday!

Today we received an email saying our magic bands we're being shupped. Then UPS delivered them 10 minutes later. Dang, Mickey is fast! :)
