Do you work out during your trip?

Aside from the massive amounts of walking or course. I have lost 99 lbs and of course exercise has been a big part of that. I'm trying to decide if I work out a few times if that will over exert myself and make me more tired or if it will help me giving me extra energy cuz lets face it the diet is always off during disney. Sadly I know all that rich food will make me lethargic (still worth it lol) just wondering what others do?

Yes, we do. We get up early and usually go for a run. Nothing too crazy!

We always work out on vacation, keeps us focused and helps with overall health. So much new (junk) for on vacation, even when being good, all the germs.....getting that heart rate up once a day or so is great for the body. And it gives you energy, as opposed to taking it away.

I've been on Weight Watchers since 2010 and have lost around 170 pounds so I understand wanting to get some exercise in!

On our trip last year, me and my mom planned to go for a walk around the resort each morning....we did that ONE out of about 10 mornings :rotfl2:

We were just so tired after the day that we wanted sleep! Plus we were waking up at 5am in order to get ready for the day and make it to our breakfast reservations. But I would say that we definitely got in plenty of exercise walking at the parks!

My husband does and I try to. He feels best with a vigorous morning workout, I'm still working on that. There is a lot of walking, but it's just not the same.

We actually sprang for a deluxe just for the fitness center.

My fiance does - he is up everyday running early in the morning around POR and POFQ - he does the loop around the river and always says there are others out there with him. I have a friend who always gets up early to walk around the lake at the Boardwalk and she loves that route. I have had some foot issues lately and am hoping to get back up to speed, maybe you will see me out there someday......last trip I was just happy to survive 10 days in the parks! :thumbsup2 Congrats to all those who successfully lost the weight!! pixiedust:

If by work out you mean eat and eat and eat... yep.

We consider ourselves "off the wagon" during our trips but the bad habits end the moment we are back on the plane. I don't even drink soda in civilian life. At all. But at the World...

Nope. I feel like I'm getting plenty of exercise walking 7 or 8 miles per day. I try not to go too crazy with my eating while at WDW - some indulgences, sure, but not too many. But I'm usually pretty satisfied knowing I'm walking pretty much all day long, much more than I would have at home.

I love those early morning runs around the resort. They wake you up and give you some added energy for the rest of the day.

You mean other than the 9+ miles we walk everyday we're there?:rotfl2:

That's plenty of exercise. If I walked that everyday, I'd lose the 20+ lbs I want to.

In real life, I work out every day, but it is honestly difficult fitting it in on these trips. I hope to get a few workouts in on our upcoming Disney trip but not sure it will happen.

First, congrats on the weight loss! That is awesome.

I always plan to work out on holiday, wherever I go, but 9 times out of 10 I don't actually do it. The good thing about Disney is that you are doing a lot of walking but if you don't want to get out of your routine (and that is always my problem - I come back from holiday and still don't want to exercise) then I would try to fit some exercise in.

Work out every day....I love to do the BWV/BCV jog runs in the morning. SSR and VWL have good runs as well. If we're someplace without a good jog trail we hit the resort gym(s) when they open. Then we can feel better about all the wonderful food/drink we have on vacation. This is coming from a person who HATES exercise. It's just an accepted necessary thing I have to do and a challenge every single day of my life.

If we expect to be doing a lot of walking, then we would normally do weights at the gym rather than running or walking on the treadmill. If we had a leisurely day planned (like when we're on a DCL cruise), we would normally do a cardio-type day on a treadmill.

Basically, we do the opposite in the gym of what we would do on the day so as not to overexert doing one activity.

I work out, but try to avoid more time on my feet. I'll either do some aqua aerobics in the pool in the afternoon (we always take a break midday) or I do some upper body/core exercises. I get enough of a work out for legs walking the parks.

Congrats on the weight loss! I think working out helps to keep my mental health better too!

Congrats on your weight loss! :cheer2:

Losing weight is not for the weak. For sure. I work out, but depends on the day. If it's a park-hoppin walk from 8am to 10pm day, then no.
Other days, yes. I find that working up a good sweat helps me feel like I'm not turning into a lump :rotfl:

I have found that doing intervals works well (treadmill for a song, weights for a song, etc) while DH enjoys a nice run through the lovely property.

Either way, we all know 10 lbs is easier to gain than lose, so keep it up! :)

Oh and PS - I have found that working out on arrival day sets me on the right track.

I run or lift weights every day, but I don't at Disney.

I reserve my energy for the parks. We average about 8-10 miles walking per day while there. When when you combine that with the heat and humidity of September, I want to use my energy for the parks.

I get back in my regular routine when I get back home. The first few workouts are normally tougher, but it comes back quick.

In real life DH and I walk. He does 5-6 miles 5 days a week and I do 4-5 miles 3-4 days a week. I just don't see the point in walking more than we already do at WDW. My feet hurt enough after a day in the parks. DH recently lost 25 lbs after a type II diabetes diagnosis. He now doesn't test as diabetic, but is trying to lose a few more pounds. I'm only down 5 in the same time frame. We try to be healthy and get aerobic exercise. We stay at SOG and walk to either the Poly or TTC most days for the bus or monorail.
