I am staying from 11/21 until late 12/10 (3 hotels) - not planning on getting a mug on the 21st because getting at WDW just in time to head to MK for Christmas Party - so will be eating in the park that night. Will be starting mug on the morning of the 22nd. I will get a length of stay (14 days) and it will take me up to 12/5. On 12/6 I will need to pay for 4 more days correct? Do I need to show them anything (receipt? kttw?) to add the extra 4 days? Or should I add 4 more days earlier in the stay to make the end date 12/10

I think I saw a post that if you add a few days to your stay to get the full length its a bit cheaper then the cost of a 4 day mug. I would ask when you buy to see what is the best way to go.

I have a friend who just returned last week and she said that people were getting their old style mugs filled at the magic kingdom? She said that mugs were being sold at POP Century for $17 and in the park the same mug was $5. Anyone know anything about this?

Ive seen nothing about a deal for mugs at the parks. If so it may be a one time mug (only) at the park and does not have the RFID to be used at the resorts. You were always able to buy mugs in the parks for a price.

They have always had souvenir mugs at the park. They are unrelated to the RFID mugs.

Parks have the same 'style' of mugs, but with a different image wrapped around them. They are not refillable and therefore cost less.

Is CR and BLT pool on the new system? we're checking in late tonight.since we'll be at WDW longer than the 14 days I won't buy them tonight if this counts as one of my days. Also is kidani/jambo on yet?

Good question.. I'd like that answer too. I will certainly leave my mugs home if they can't be used and I'm going to have to buy others.I'd also like to complain about they new ones only having a use life of 5 days or however long your trip is. What do you do with your old mugs. Especially the early ones that were suppose to last forever?

I'm wondering that if you were to bring the "forever" ones in and talked to a CM lead/manager that they wouldn't replace it for you with a new RFID mug... but I guess that leads to a question of what would you do after that trip?

I have several of those...from DxLs!!! But here's the thing...like everything else at WDW, everything, and anything, is subject to change, with no notice. There is fine print on everything. Maybe I should have taken a photo of the signage to look back on to see if there was 'fine print' there!!!
I also have a huge collection of other ones...probably about 22 of them!!! Yes, I have brought them back if I traveled within the same year..not allowed but I still did it.
But now??? No way am I paying that kind of money to have a mug for more than a week. I'll bring my own water and soda. Looks like I'll be bringing coffee makings as well.

Perfect. One less thing I have to explain to the in-laws haha! Explaining FP+ to them will be as scary as explaining the birds n bees to a roomful of tweens.

I wonder if you will be able to bring the new cups back on future trips and have them re-set. It seems the technology is there to be able to do that and it would be environmentally friendly. I already have a cupboard full of Disney mugs. It would be nice to keep using the same ones over and over.

That would be a good idea! I hope they do. Saves a lot of plastic!

Arrived at AKV yesterday. System seems to be in place but isn't turned on. No sign of the new RFID mugs for sale in Mara although I noticed they cleared out the check out end caps and they were empty last night. Maybe they are making room for the new ones there.

That would be a great idea however you would still probably have to pay for the refills.

I read on a thread somewhere (maybe even this one?) that someone was told to check with their resort and POR said they would honor them :)

But yes that would be a pain though to keep having to ask.

Hi - I'm at POFQ now. Showed my Brer Rabbit etc. red Dixie Landings forever mug to two different CMs, and they said there is no such thing as a forever mug. Ugh. I didn't seek a manager out - I only drink coffee and water (neither are on rfid) and have dining plan starting tomorrow. I didn't want to deal with the hassle to find out the deal, but seems clear that if there is a policy, it hasn't been communicated to the front line food court employees yet.

To answer an unrelated prior question, the lids on the RFID mugs are seemingly the same size as the "old" mugs (old = a week ago). But, when I swap either or both parts of the (still two part) lid for the old pink or blue or black lids, coffee leaks a bit between the two parts of the lid. It seems it could leak out onto my shirt, so I don't recommend swapping the lids with the old mugs (I was hoping to do, to differentiate my mugs from everyone else's).

Photos of minor leaking between the two part old lid, on a new RFID mug (which does not happen when I use the new RFID two part lid on the new RFID mug):
