Spoiler-free Breaking Bad Thread

Live Discussion -

By popular demand, we will hold a live discussion for the next 6 Sunday nights to express the litany of emotions one can travel through while watching BrBa. Again, if you're not live and want to remain spoiler-free, avert your eyes!

Again, to make it abundantly clear...

Live Discussion means that you may discuss any aspects, theories, conjectures, tweets from stars...anything goes! Have an idea of what's coming up after that commercial break? Post it! Did Aaron Paul just tweet something you think you've figured out? Post it! Did someone get sent to Belize? Post it! Immediately, even. Time zones, be damned!

Any spoiler, any time!

White lettering or warning of spoilers is not necessary!

Joining in! I want somewhere to talk too! :)

I just started watching this show this summer. Watched the seasons 1- 5A and it is the best show EVER! I am having a VERY hard time having to wait a week between episodes now!

I just can't help feeling that Walt will be dying at the end. I do think he will be taking the Ricin himself and going out on his own terms. I do hope that Skyler is stashed away somewhere with the kids and the money, even though I am not a fan of hers. Even though Walt has turned bad I do still like him at the core and don't want it all to be for nothing.

I do think Jessie is dead and that makes me sad. If we find out Walt is responsible that will change my feelings for him. Him killing Jessie will be the one thing I will not be able to forgive.

Just don't know what to think about Lydia and Todd. Maybe somehow Jessie will find a way out of it all by turning them in and getting revenge that way?

I've heard rumors of a Saul spin off so he must come out of the series alive.

Glad to be here and look forward to swapping theories and discussions! :)

Well, you know I'm here (since I was championing for a place to talk freely about the episodes, with spoilers, and not have to worry about spoiling them for anyone else!)!! Thank you for starting the thread, firecracker725! Now I have a place to come and vent when the show first airs! I can post here and say, "Can you believe that just happened?"

Okay, so...about this most recent episode, "Buried"...

1. I think it was partially because Skyler couldn't manage to speak much, but I felt that the scene with Skyler and Hank dragged on a little long. If she had talked more I think I wouldn't have felt that way.

2. I enjoyed it when Marie slapped Skyler, but I didn't enjoy it when she just thought she could 'steal' the baby like she steals spoons and other odds and ends!:rotfl2:

3. Jesse was annoying me by sulking too much. Snap out of it, already! What he really should do is just stay away from Walt -- move or go somewhere else, but stay away. Instead, I feel that he is probably about to find out that Walt poisoned Brock and that will send him over the edge and on a rampage.

I am also beginning to think that Jesse could be the one who wrote the big "Heisenberg" on the wall at the White house, and not random skater kids.

4. I loved the "go to Belize" phrase by Saul, but I thought that Walt's reaction to it was surprising -- he is acting as if there is no way he would harm a family member...which leads me to believe that he will be killing Marie (sending her to Belize) or possibly Hank before this series is done, or he will have someone else do it!

5. I thought that the scene with Lydia-Declan-Todd was great, but it took so long to happen in the episode (last 15 minutes or so). I knew she was a black widow in disguise. Even though she keeps having other people do her dirty work, if she doesn't end up "in Belize" herself, I think she may actually get her own hands dirty soon. I feel that we still have not seen all there is to see of Lydia.

I had no clue that Todd, Declan and Lydia were even tied up with each other, and I still find it hard to believe that they all would have been okay with Walt just leaving the business after talking up the quality of his cook to rope them in.

What was the point of Declan even being on the show, though? He wasn't on it long enough for me to care one way or the other that he was dead (to either be happy or angry about it), so the murder scene didn't impact me because of his death but because it showed more about Lydia's character. I just don't see how bringing Declan on the show in the first place advanced the plot in any way or got us any more invested in anything. It's like he was brought on specifically to be killed right away so that the main characters on the show don't have to be killed off.

6. I never thought Skyler would end up being killed to begin with, and I still don't know if she will be, but I think she will be relieved to be rid of Walt when he meets whatever fate he is going to meet. I think Sky may end up moving to Colorado with the money -- which is where her coin kept landing when she visited the Four Corners in a previous season. She could vanish with help from Saul.

7. What we can gather is that if anything happens to Todd -- even if Walt doesn't do it but Jesse kills him -- his crazy uncle and crew will not be amused, and they will probably come after Walt in a big way.

:surfweb::surfweb::surfweb:

I think that this whole series has been leading to 3 dramatic plot points:

A) Hank's discovery of Heisenberg's identity and his confrontation of Walt (we have now seen that);

B) Jesse's discovery that Walt poisoned Brock and possibly, somehow, that he didn't save Jane, and his confrontation of Walt (which I think we are about to see); and

C) Walt's ultimate fate by series' end -- if he dies, will he die by his own hands, by someone else's hands, or by cancer? And if he lives, will he escape and move away under a fake identity or will he end up in prison?

Love this show! I hope Jessie doesn't die but can't imagine many survivors here! Am I missing something that people think Jessie is already dead?

Couple other questions for aficionados. The sketch or picture of Heisenberg that hank found in the evidence and the cousins had - where did it come from? Who got a look at Heisenberg that survived? Someone from the cartel?

The other question was the meaning of the name of an episode from season 3. It's called IFT. I think it's the one where the cousins appear and Skylab starts the affair

Sure I have some more but I ll save them for later. would say i have been thinking about this stuff too much but there's no such thing lol

Those cousins were so creepy -- just like Gus Fring, the cousins had a certain ominous presence every time they were in a scene. They never spoke, but they were terrifying!

I always wondered exactly how the sketch got around as well and where it came from. I suppose it could be from a few different places. Heisenberg was seen outside of Tuco's place, for example, when he went to meet him, threw the bomb and walked away. So maybe the cops came to interview someone who saw Walt walking away and the sketch artist drew that sketch? Then the sketch could have gotten back to the Cartel and the cousins (since they were related to Tuco).

The "IFT" title.... well, it stands for something. But we can't say the "F" part of it on this board!;) It's what Skyler says to Walt when she decides to rub it in his face that she slept with her boss.

When I talk that Jessie is already dead I am meaning in the scenes from the "future" when Walt has returned to the house and it is a skate park and Heisenberg is spray painted on the walls. It's at that point that I am thinking Jessie is already dead. So I am thinking he is going to die sometime after talking to Hank in the interrogation room. How that may happen is totally open. That may be where the Lydia/Todd storyline will play a part?

I do think it is possible that Jessie could somehow find out about what Walt did to Brock because Saul and his guys had to have helped with that with swapping the cigarettes that Jessie had on him. Not sure if Saul and his guys would ever turn on Walt though and confess that to Jessie? They seem pretty loyal (fearful) to Walt.

As far as Jessie ever learning about Jane I don't think that will ever happen because Walt is the only person that knows about that and unless he willingly confesses it won't come out.

The meaning of the name of the episode I.F.T. is short for what Skyler said to Walt at the end "I F_ c_ed Ted." and left him with in shock.

Okay, I added a bit of stuff to the first post. I think I've pretty well covered the warnings of spoilers, but if y'all have any other ideas, please feel free to suggest.

I am thrilled to have a place to discuss what's been happening freely, without fear of spoiling it for anyone else.

The thing bugging me the most right now is what Walt is going to do with that ricin. I think poisoning himself is too obvious. Also, ricin isn't an easy nor quick death. There are much better ways to off oneself. Then again, Walt doesn't seem to choose the path of least resistance much, does he?

No, I think he's going to use it on someone else. Possibly Hank. Maybe Jesse. I don't see Jesse making it out alive, though I really wish he would. He's by far my favorite character.

And can I just say how amazing these characters are? No one is what they seem. And they're constantly changing in front of our eyes. I know this series is often compared to The Wire when it comes to the "best series ever" discussion, but I think the complexity of the characters sends BrBa sailing over The Wire. McNulty was always a womanizing little boy in a man's body, but Walt didn't start out as a criminal mastermind. I don't know exactly when I stopped rooting for Walt, and that's huge. To take a pitiable character and make him hated is quite a feat, but to do it in a yo-yo fashion like they did is downright superb.

I think the first post looks great, and there should be no question that spoilers and episodes will be discussed in this thread!

You're not the first person to mention that Walt using the ricin on himself might not happen. I think someone on Television Without Pity was saying that the other day as well. I used to think he would probably use it on himself but after seeing these first 2 episodes of the final 8, I think differently.

I am guessing that Walt goes to the house to get the ricin because he is in a position at that point where he cannot just whip up another batch of it...and he wants to use it on someone else.

But who?

Since Walt has hair and it is 'the future' at the time he is getting the ricin from the wall socket, who would still be alive and chasing after him at that point? To me it seems like Hank would either be dead or would have dropped the whole mess by that time if he thought Walt escaped. Plus, Walt is just walking up to his house in a leisurely manner when we see him (after squeezing through the fence), not really concerned whether anyone else sees him, so he obviously seems to not be worried about being caught.

Is it Jesse? Will Jesse soon find out about the Brock poisoning, with Hank's help, then go on a rampage against Walt? Will Walt escape Jesse's wrath, and then agree to meet up with him in several months with a plan to poison him?

The ricin seems too slow a death for Todd's uncle and company too. Walt would want to take them out quickly, if he took them out at all.

So I am thinking he agrees to meet up with someone in several months, when his hair has grown back, and he gets the ricin before the meeting, with the plan to use it on him/her.

I don't think it will be Hank, but I am guessing the intended target of Walt's ricin will either be Jesse, Lydia...or Skyler. That doesn't mean that they will die, but those are the ones I think he would try to use it on.

If Walt wanted to kill himself he could always just jump in front of a bus!:rotfl2: No need to drag it out!

Months ago I heard an interview with "walt". At the time he strongly implied that he will not die in the end but everyone else will. Something along the line of "sometimes it is more painful to be the only one left alive" and also "come on the guys a drug dealer it's not gong to turn out well"

I'm late to the Breaking Bad party. And I have some catching up to do.

Hi everyone, I'm also a huge Breaking Bad fan. I came to the series late and did a marathon Netflix catch-up before starting this season (the first episodes). I'm finding that I am having a hard time remembering what happened in the first episodes, so I think I need to go back and watch them again.

I found the opening of the episode where Walt goes back to his old house to get the ricin incredibly sad. There home was deserted, grafitied and torn apart, a metaphor for their lives. I can't wait to see what will happen. I also love Jessie's character and would love to see him find some type of redemption. Skylar seems cold and calculating, not what I thought she was in the first few seasons. I don't know how to feel about Walt. I was rooting for him for the first three seasons, and then he lost me somehow.

Those cousins were so creepy -- just like Gus Fring, the cousins had a certain ominous presence every time they were in a scene. They never spoke, but they were terrifying!

yes, definitely creepy. To me they seem like stone cold born that way killers, whereas Gus seems more to have been made that way by circumstances kind of like Walt

I agree that the most likely source of the sketch was someone around Tuco and I think we first saw it when the cousins had it.

Too funny that was kind of in my face but I didn't pick up on it. Thanks!

Jesse is my favorite so hoping he makes it! Another clue I heard about his probable death was from comments on Slate. Commentor said Walt was wearing Jesse's jacket when he went back to his ruined house. I would have to look at it again to try to confirm that.

I'm here too!!! Hopped over from the previous thread!

I'm Eastern Time Zone... now less than 2 hours for me. ;)

OK, the preview for tonight's episode... the one scene really that we've seen, is where Skylar and Walt are at a restaurant, obviously waiting on others, and there are 2 empty chairs there. Marie and Hank? Jesse and someone else? Lydia and Todd (unlikely but hey.... imagine Walt and Sky wanting to amp it up a bit and get in deeper ??).

I think the Ricin, because it's slower and not as hands-on as a brutal gun killing, might be more intended for someone close to him.... Sky (although I'm seeing them drawing closer now, not farther apart), Hank, or Marie. Or with that amount, ALL of them. ??

I'll be back... who here is Eastern time zone? Western? Mountain?

30 min to go and I'm watching last weeks again. Based on how furious hank looked even as he was making Marie give the baby back. I think he's so far gone he ll try to kill Walt and Walt will kill him in self defense

A possible story i like is Lydia and buddies trying to kill Jesse and Walt trying to save him and Jesse dying in walts arms. After that not sure how it would wrap up. A little redemption for Walt. Is that too much to expect?

Oooooh, interesting scenario. My hubby always thought the only real thing that would actually hurt Walt is something happening to Walt Jr. What if Walt Jr got hooked on Heisenberg's pure blue meth??? He hasn't been seen yet, hmmmmmm.......

No idea how the other loose ends would go.

Also Todd has such a baby face and a complete psycho. But Lydia has great taste in shoes

Very excited to see tonite

OH MY DEAR HOLY GAWWWWWWDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!@

I did NOT see this coming!!! Brilliant on Walt's part. Sheer brilliance.
