OMG This is the funniest thing I ever heard at Disney!

As we were walking from the bus stop at MK toward the park entrance/exits, a Disney Security Guard was telling a large group of females:

"No mam, there's no monorail to the Super 8 Motel."

They clearly either did not like or did not understand what he was saying to them, as this was followed up by:

"No mam, there is no bus either to the Super 8 Motel."

At that moment I almost wished I was wearing a Depends, I laughed so hard.

And lastly, there was this:

Dh was in line with dd for the water slide at our resort. While in line, some small boy was regaling dh his interpretation of exactly how tall the water slide was, then proceeded to ask dh how long he was staying. Dh told him 8 days. The little boy replied, "We're staying 8 days too!!! Five thousand dollars!!!"

At poly in May I heard a guy ask where monorail to HS was. Then ask to see a map to "get his bearings"

Never heard something that funny, but a VERY excited Spanish speaking women on the bus to the Magic Kingdom started to scream "MICKEY MOOSE! MICKEY MOOSE! MICKEY MOOSE!" as the bus turned into the bus area. I almost peed myself laughing. Mouse, Moose, whatever. She was very happy to be there! haha

I was getting on a bus at all star sports behind a couple from Italy. When the door open they walked up the steps and stopped to ask the bus driver how much it cost to go to Magic Kingdom. He said, " nothing." So they asked again thinking they must not have understood. He explained them it was free. They proceeded to sit down and I sat across from them. They looked at me with happy amazement and said while shaking their heads in disbelief, "Wow, Disney!" I smiled back and said yes WDW is a magical place and all transportation is included in your stay, boats, monorail, and bus. They looked so happy!

We were at AKL, trying to get back to the MK. WE had huge bus issues. First the driver couldn't get the dang bus to kneel..he finally did. He was able to finally get the ramp down for the ecv bound guest that needed it. The bus filled up pretty quickly. Well...he couldn't get it to 'unkneel'!!! We sat there for about 15 mins while he tried to get it to an upright position. We finally all had to get off the bus.
So, as we stood there, waiting for another bus to be sent along, I got into a conversation with a group of older guests...probably in their 70's, very well dressed. Well, they told me they were on their way to the GF for dinner. Oh, how nice I said. Were they taking the monorail or the boat over from MK? "Oh, we're staying on the bus. It's raining and we don't want to get wet!'' No, I told them, the bus wouldn't go to MK. Oh yes it does they said...with quite the attitude!!! I told them that buses do NOT go from resort to resort, unless they are on the same route. And the AKL was not on the same route as the GF!!! They would have to take either the monorail or the boat to GF. The woman started telling me, quite loudly, that she has been to WDW many times and she understands how the buses work and they will be taking this bus to the GF and not getting wet!!! Okay I said. So, the new bus comes along. The group gets on and takes seats right up front. When we get to the MK, as I am getting off, I hear that woman yelling at the bus driver, telling him that he has to get them to the GF!!! She knows this bus is supposed to go there, so lets get going!!!
OMG...it was hysterical. I tried to help, but sometimes people just don't want the help.

I don't get it either. I had some lady at the poly pool a few weeks ago ask me what DHS was like and what her dds would like. I have no clue they are your dds. Geesh!

Obviously if someone asked me before they went I wouldn't have a problem with it but this lady had already been there for a few days. Did you look at the map and read about it?

I have two from my group/trip so far: on ME at 2:30 a.m. (don't ask) going to the resort, the movie started and as soon as Mickey came on my DH loudly exclaimed, "Well that's the biggest squirrel I've ever seen!!!" I was wondering who thought he was serious...

The other DS is very timid, and doesn't like thrill rides. My two and his sister convinced him to ride SM. He screamed his head off the whole time. When we were leaving, he planted his feet and clenched his fists and yelled, "That was NOTHING like Goofy's Barnstormer!!!!"

I too do not understand the lack of a little research. You are spending a lot of money on a Disney vacation. We were on a bus with a family that had a little girl all dressed up in her princess best. The mom said they were having breakfast with Cinderella in her castle. I asked what time their ressie was. She told me "I don't believe in reservations since I never know what time I want to do something". With a shocked face I asked "you don't have a reservation?' She was like no, we are just going to go when we feel like it. I let it go because the little girl was so excited, but my sons were like -they are never gonna get in! I felt sorry for the little girl if they didn't get in due to mom's lack of planning. I know some people have gotten a walk-up-but to get your child all dressed up and excited seemed cruel without a ressie.

Not everyone realizes the planning that is involved in a WDW vacation, remember you were all once newbies in that dept. How did you know you had to plan? The only reason I did was because I have a family member who frequents WDW and warned me. If I didn't I wouldn't have a clue. Not everyone knows to search the internet for WDW gurus.
FTR, I don't plan and I try to inform myself but I'm sure I don't have 1/4 of the knowledge some of you have. I'm so glad that if you over hear me asking a "stupid" question it will force you into hysterics.

I agree. I feel bad for them.

I can't even imagine what it must be like to plan a Disney vacation now. We started going in 1985, when there was only MK, EPCOT and Disney Village. Everyone stayed offsite, there was only Poly, CR, Disney Inn and FW. So we have been able to add each new park, hotel, etc. as they happened so it's never been overwhelming. To think that folks are planning their first trip now is incomprehensible, how do you figure it all out if you haven't seen it.

I'm helping a friend at work and I've been mindful to tell her that you have to take HIGHWAYS between theme parks, that it's similar to visiting New York and every theme park is a different borough, etc. I'm shocked that folks feel okay with a 4 day vacation because that's all they need when they haven't seen it yet.

I also feel bad for folks who come on here for their first trip and think they have to do every little "secret" that long timers have figured out. Honestly, that has ruined a lot of those little things like the scuba diver at Coral Reef, etc. I wish every newbie understood they need to read and research, not just jump on here and ask random questions that cause more questions, more threads, more "will I like...".

Yes, I guess I sound holier than thou, that's not my point. I love answering questions from people who know what they're asking. I hate seeing questions from people who have no idea, I won't touch those threads other than to tell them to go away and research. Folks like Robo, and Cheshire Figment, etc. have so much more patience than I and are truly DISboard saints!

I'm taking my first trip this year and was going to wing it until I talked to my brother who set me straight. I knew it was multiple parks but thought each was just a better version of other amusement parks I've been to and I'd just go with the flow. I didn't realize it was 50 square miles, didn't know about MDE, transportation, DDP, APR's, importance of rope drops, etc, etc.

WDW is massive and complex and the options are infinite but I don't see why that means people can't laugh at funny things people say or do.

I haven't seen any evidence of hysterical laughter here. Amusement, certainly. I see nothing wrong in finding amusement in some of the situations that have been described here. Obviously a sense of humour is as variable and different amongst Disers as it is in the general population.

I remember a post from several years ago (and I doff my bonnet to the original poster, whose name now escapes me). He described being outside the general store, near the bus stop at POR. He sees a middle aged man suddenly run to the door of the store, yank open the door, and yell inside "Martha, come quick, you gotta hear this!" Intrigued, the poster unashamedly continues to eavesdrop. The man's wife, accompanied by several teenagers comes out of the door. "Martha, you ain't gonna believe this! This is only the hotel! This place is so big you gotta take a bus to get to the park. And the bus driver fella just told me they got 3 more parks too!!"

Now if that's not a lack of planning and research, I don't know what is.
