Do i need to reserve parking if I choose to park at the Port Canveral pier

Hi all you seasoned cruisers!

I was looking at the Port Canaveral web site and saw that they offer reserved parking close to the ship. Is it a good idea to reserve or perhaps it's not really necessary?

Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

We've parked at Port Canaveral 10 times & have never :sad2: had a problem getting a good space.

We park there often, and never had a problem at all. Plenty of parking. I didn't even know you could reserve it! Maybe they're talking about the preferred parking. Don't do it! You'll have to walk all of 4 minutes (if that) to the ship for ordinary parking, versus 3 minutes for the extra cost "preferred" parking.

Also the preferred parking is not covered, and that area opens later than the garage fwiw, for us early birds. ;)

At least that has been our experience.

What time do you get there? Trying to decide... We do not have a PAT because of sailing in concierge... We do have a two year old, so we want to streamline as much as possible, but I'm gonna be more antsy and excited than him lol:)

:rotfl2: I too was/are more excited than my kids. :confused3

10:30-10:45 usually. Each time preferred parking blocked off and almost full.
It's only about 50 feet closer than the garage. Preferred is up against the terminal, while the garage is across the small two lane road separating the terminal from the garage.

Actually, looking at the satellite photo, preferred parking could be farther than the garage parking depending on where a spot is available.

Bear3412... Thanks for the link. It helped a lot. I won't worry about parking and just relax and have fun.

Do you pay for parking when you park or when you leave? Is it an automated debit/credit only like at the airport or will cash work as well? I think this (parking at Port Canaveral) is the one thing I have read the least about.

No. We parked a 36ft motorhome towing a car there in June. If the van won't fit in the garage, you park it in the surface lot.
