Does anyone know the answer to this? Do they pipe the Wishes music onto the pier?

T minus 10 days...

I'm trying to remember...

We were there in December and one night I caught the MVMCP fireworks right in back of SL as I was heading to our room...

The reason I can't remember is because I had a very interesting conversation with a CM from SL who was outside....he previously worked in the MK fireworks prior to SL and was telling me all about the types and how long it took to set up.

We arrive on Tuesday so if I happen to catch them that night I will answer back here..

I think I know the answer to this but when you watch Wishes from GF do they have the music there?

Does anyone know the answer to this? Do they pipe the Wishes music onto the pier?

I can't be of any help, but hopefully someone will be able to answer this ;).

The studios are 374 sq ft, whereas the standard rooms are right around 400 sq ft, so IMO, it would come down to your preference as they are pretty close in size. Good luck.

We got Boca Chica pool view! Really great view. We checked in early, and when I went up to room it was a Dormer. I really dislike them. Hate sitting and looking at a solid wall. So I went back down and asked nicely if I could have an open balcony. She was really kind, and apologetic. Cause first thing I said was I hope it's not a dormer, and she said no, it isn't! The room assignor got on the phone with me and asked if I could move now. Yes!! I'm in the lobby :goodvibes. So now we have a wonderful view on 2nd floor.

Now I see what everyone means about the other building with pool house obstruction! Thanks for the tips.

My surprise was a success! We dropped car off at CCC, and had shuttle take us to GF, daughter thought it was for breakfast, :rotfl2: even when I checked luggage with Bell Service the penny hadn't dropped! As we were walking to the doors, I told her!! :goodvibes.

Went to DHS today! Then came back around 2 to enjoy the pools. We had the usual 3pm shower, but we wanted to eat at beach pool. Bad timing. Rain chased us into Gaspirillas!
Showering now, then debating on tonight. MK has EMH. Even if we don't get in any big attractions, we can walk around, and ride people mover, Carousel of Progress, and Philharmonic type things! And take in the atmosphere.

Boca Chica has very pretty pool views :goodvibes. Glad you were able to surprise your DD......sounds like you're having a great start to your GF stay :thumbsup2. Have a great time and enjoy the Grand :wizard:.

I am considering GF for F&W. For some reason it is really reasonable with pass holder rate. Travelocity is even cheaper! Just wanting to pay off last weeks trip first :rolleyes1

DH and I will only be there 2 nights but it will be Grande!

WE so love people mover. DD and I will go to MK just to ride that at end of day when DH and DS go to bed!

SO glad you pulled of surprise:cheer2: Any pics????

Has anyone ever used the concierge itinerary planner to make the 180 day ADRs? What's the advantage over just making them myself online?

Always utilize IPO..and am always so happy with the service..They generally send you a form via email to fill out that includes a place to list what dining you would like to book..and after it has all been booked they will send you an itinerary ... Very easy...

Thanks!

We're there for 3 days/2 nights with one night being in MK for the fireworks. My thoughts are that the other night we'd watch the Water Parade and fireworks from their room balcony. Does the Boca-Chica have specific upgrades for MK views that still overlook the lagoon or can I ask for a partial MK view?

Alternatively we could just walk out onto the grass in front of the lagoon and watch the fireworks that way...Do they pipe the Wishes music onto the pier out by Narcoossee's?

The music for the fireworks is not piped directly onto the boat dock..but it is piped onto the deck around Narcoosees..so if you are standing in that area you can hear it while you are watching the fireworks...

We prefer RO discounts too. We're here till 9/1 so I'll check next week, I seem to remember those BBs usually come out closer to the end of August. !

Thanks SueM :goodvibes I look forward to hearing what the upcoming BB info will be... So glad that your got a room that you liked after moving! :thumbsup2 And that you were able to surprise the family too!!! :wizard: Enjoy!!!

Have a great time! I will be checking in 11 months from now and always think about my return to the GF. My name is Gina and I am addicted to the Grand Floridian!!

I understand! You can add my name to that list too...:flower3:

Hi, what is the best way to get to Epcot from GF? And how long of a ride is it usually? Thanks!

You can take the monorail to the TTC and then to need to change from the resort monorail line to the Epcot monorail..which is just a quick walk down one ramp..and around up another...total trip takes about 30-35 minutes I think!??

k&a&c'smom:badpc: That smilie just cracks me up! :rotfl: Maybe because its often how I feel about the computer...LOL..

MickeyNut :wave2: & Hope that you had a great weekend!!

Hey, GF lovers! I've been out of town for a few days, but I have a lot of the new thread finished. We are just about at the 250 page mark, so I may have to open it up to posts before I get all my photos uploaded. After I get some sleep, I'll try to get things ready tomorrow and open up the new thread.

Sue M - so glad you arrived safely and got a great room! Good for you, asking to be moved from the dormer room. No reason to keep a room you aren't in love with.

Have a magical vacation.pixiedust:

It's a beautiful day at the Grand! Checked into a garden view room on the 5th floor, Boca Chica, a dormer with a great view of the pool (exactly as requested via online check in). Splash area is closed right now for some reason. Fridge working. :)

Hope this pic isn't too big!

So pretty! I wonder why the splash area isn't open? I'm hoping it's open when we get there in 3 days!! :goodvibes

Beautiful pic Missus Toad :goodvibes Thanks for posting it!

Glad that you got the view that your requested..I think that's a particularly nice view too!

When I was there it was closed probably 50% of the time. It was new then and they were taking pictures, but then it would just be closed for seemingly no reason :confused3 I don't think it will be closed the entire time you are there, but I would be prepared for it to not always be open. 3 days...I am jealous :)

That's odd. We were there a couple weeks ago and it never closed that I could tell...

Sooooooo.....I am excited to say that I have changed next year's reservation from CR Garden Wing to Grand Floridian Sugarloaf!!!! :yay:

It will be our 1st time staying at the Grand. It's myself, DH and our two girls who will be 10 and 7 at the time. They always call this hotel "the castle" and I think it will be a great fit for us for our 8 nights (once they get past the lobby smell...I think it's the flowers, LOL!!)

I was wondering if there is anything I should request as far as a room goes. I am assuming there is an elevator in the building. I was thinking high floor overlooking pool. Is that doable?

For SL one side is pool side and other side is marina. Here is a pic from my poolside room.
