Looks like it worked!!! That was the answer! Thanks so much for the help!!!

Dd is up now, and I can barely contain myself. I want to tell her so much right now. I am waiting for dh who went out for his morning run (he's training for his first marathon). I'm trying to wait until he gets back.

Aw, man... so you really think it will be awful in January? We're going down for the marathon and really wanted to stay at the Poly for the same reasons as ninafeliz (2 infants in strollers). I've been following the construction thread (long time lurker, first time poster) and we're super hesitant now about it. It would be our first time in a deluxe... and first time spending mega $$$.

No, I don't think it's going to be awful. They always do a great job at accommodating guests and they do a great a job when it comes to handling construction projects. As I've said before, I would in no way let this deter me from staying at the resort I wanted to stay at.

This blog is great for those of you who have never stayed at the Poly and are thinking of staying at the Poly.

Ok, it's done! She knows!!! She's out of her mind!!

I told her dh wasn't feeling well (which is true) and said we probably shouldn't go to the amusement park as planned. She looked very sad.

I agree with this....we went this year when they were doing construction and it was our first time at the poly and we loved it!! we barely noticed any construction other than a few pathways that were blocked off....but it didn't affect our trip at all. Now on the other hand if the pool or GCH are closed that would be a dealbreaker for us.

You just never know until it gets closer and anything is subject to change. I wouldn't worry about the construction until it's actually happening. I highly doubt they would close the GCH, they may be doing construction in some areas and doing it that way but I would be shocked if they closed the entire GCH house at one time.

Is there a min height for the slide at the volcano pool? I didn't see anything about it in the first few posts on the thread.

thanks!

I told her dh wasn't feeling well (which is true) and said we probably shouldn't go to the amusement park as planned. She looked very sad.

Then I said, "Do you want to go to Disney instead?" She must have asked "Really?" about a dozen times, then ran around the house like her hair was on fire.....

5 hours!!!!!!

Woot!!!! :cool1:

DH and I surprised our kids with a Disney trip 2 years ago and it was awesome. So great to see their faces when they get to leave in just hours!!!

I actually got my kids out of school early and they were wondering what was going on. I had to say that Dad had to talk to them because I was seriously going to spill the beans. So Dad sat them on the couch and was all serious and as he's talking to them, he slips in that they are going to Disneyworld and the kids looked at each other and then DS goes running to his room to pack but DD was looking bewildered. I got the whole thing on video and then I accidentally deleted it :faint: Oh well, the memory is great. We then saved the 'Poly' surprise until we pulled up to the resort and that was another great reaction. Also not captured on video :sad2: And I also surprised them with parasailing and the Poly cabana. I DID capture some photographs of the cabana which I've posted a few times already but it ended up being the highlight of the trip - just chillin' at the pool with no plans all day! :beach:

What I want to know... is there a -maximum- height for the slide because my inner five year old is soooooo looking forward to flinging her overgrown bum down it.

I LOVE WDW surprise stories/videos. We took our kids on a surprise trip in 2009. They thought we were just going to visit my brother in Homosassa for the weekend and that the only hotel we could find for the night was near WDW. The next morning we gave them a wrapped box with shirts and pins and stuff and a note in it that said we were going to WDW. It was their first trip and the difference in reactions between my two girls still makes me crack up. My eldest is so stoic and my youngest daughter is so... not.

I am so glad we got it on video:

We surprised kids 3 times first my DD and DS back in 2009, had them do a scavenger hunt as soon as they got home from school and the hunt ended in living room where we were wearing mickeys ears with gift bags and their own packing lists, told them they had 30 min to pack and load car and then we were ordering pizza and going to bed early, that was fun!

Second time we were taking my step son, only see him for month of June as he lives in TN and we are in SC, told him that we had somewhere to be and a friend was watching him, got him up real early. He pouted the entire ride finally about an hour out of WDW we pulled over handed him a big box I wrapped and when he lifted lid a balloon that had a note attached to it said Surprise your going to Disney World" first thing out of his mouth was... Im not going to a baby sitter? lol

Last June we took my DD and my step son and when my hubby came home from work he showered and we called kids down to living room ( I already had them packed) and told them we were leaving right then and there for WDW! Step son said.. I cant believe this is happening! lol

OMG!!! That's amazing!! I have the coolest video of when we surprised dd when she was 3 or 4. It's hilarious!! Oh the things we do for our kids.....

So happy to be at the Poly! We got exactly what I wanted... 3rd floor Tuvalu TPV. The resort is even more magical than I remember from my 1996 stay. We had lunch at Kona, 2 of us had sushi. I love being back at Disney. We had a great time at Universal but it just isn't the same.

That's exactly what our requests are for next week. *fingers crossed*

What wonderful stories!! I have never been able to surprise my kids past getting on the Turnpike. They know the minute we get on the Turnpike where we are going. BRATS!! ROFL

LOL this 51 year old child would like to go down the slide too! Probably be funnier than hell.

I am SO happy you got exactly what you wanted!! YEA!!

Fingers crossed you get exactly what you have asked for too.

Bluejasmin I can so relate. I thought the week before we left was NEVER going to end. Soon you will be back home at the Poly though.

Can't wait to get live reports and pictures. I am sooooo missing my home away from home. When I get stressed I try to picture myself walking around the Poly and it actually makes me feel better. Wonder if I clicked my heels and said "There is no place like home" if I would end up at the Poly?? LOL
