Looking Like I Can't Really Afford To Go To Disney

We have a trip coming up in October. It will be the third trip for our son, who will be two months shy of 4 years old, to be exact. I measured him in February, and he was 39 1/4, so I assumed he'd hit that "magical" 40 inches by October. I haven't measured him lately, but I'm going to tonight! :thumbsup2 In the meantime, while I'm procrastinating at work, I was wondering what age other kids were when they were finally able to do those 40 inch rides. He really, really, really wants to do Splash this year!

She was 3.5 - we had APs that year.

When we started the "year" in May she couldn't ride any of the 40" requirement reides, but that changed when we went back in December for our holiday trip. She had just barely grown past the 40" mark & went on Splash asap, lol!

My nephew was just at 40 inches at 4. We took him to WDW for his 4th birthday. Most of the 40' rides he could do but Soarin' was a no go as was Goofy's Coaster once and one time it was ok ???

Huh. That's strange because The Barnstormer only has a 35 inch requirement. Our soon blew right by that in October 2012...certainly he will have grown 4-5 inches in a year, right?

I don't know why I'm suddenly so worried about this...:confused3

DS was 3 when he hit 40". DD is 2 and 36", so I would guess she is on track to be 40" at 3 as well.

DD was 3. We went about 2 1/2 months before her 4th birthday and she could do the 40 inch rides. At least with DD, they have growth spurts where they suddenly sprout up a bunch at once. We didn't think she was going to make 40 inches by our trip, but then she suddenly shot up 2 inches in about a month's time.

Good luck! I hope he gets to ride Splash! If he was 39 1/4 in bare feet, he probably would have made the 40 in shoes even back then, so you might be fine! DD was exactly 40 inches in her bare feet on her 3 year old trip with us by our measurements, and she was way above the lines with her shoes on!

My kids hit 40" at a variety of ages ranging from 2.5 years to 5 years. The 2.5 year old got a lot of attention in the ToT line because he definitely looked his young age despite being so tall.

My son was 5.75 years old when he hit 40. *just* in time for our first Disney trip in December. Whew.

Back in may my DD was 4 she had her birthday at the beginning of the month. She went on splash. She didn't like it she said but she was tall enough. She was also tall enough the week before to go on wild artic at seaworld and I believe that is 42 inches.

My oldest was 40" around his 3rd birthday. My youngest was 40" 3 months before his 4th birthday; we had been at WDW in May (he had turned 3 in Feb) and he wasn't tall enough, but when we went back in November, he was.

My guys were anywhere from just shy of 5 to poor DS who was 6! Gives new meaning to the term "little ones" I suppose.

My older daughter was 3 when she hit 40" and it looks like she's 44" at 4, but I don't think she'll be going on the big rides this upcoming trip. Test Track scared her too much last time.

My 22 month old is probably going to be 40" by 3 as well if not sooner. At 22 months she's about 36-37" (she just missed the 35" for Barnstormer our last trip 4 months ago).

Our son is about to turn 6 and is 43". He was barely 40" by his last birthday...the reason I was able to convince DH to wait another year to take him so we could ride more rides.

DS was 40 inches with his shoes on when he went to his first trip two weeks before his 3rd birthday. He went on Splash Mt, Test track and Tower of Terror and loved them all.

Well, I measured him tonight...he was 40 inches (with sandals on) on the dot.

How accurate are those measuring things at Disney? I told him to drink some milk and eat a sandwich right after I measured him. LOL! Hopefully he'll grow a little in the next 61 days to give us some breathing room at Disney!

Not being a judgy bear but taking a < 3yo on ToT? That's almost too much for some adults! I couldn't even imagine taking my 3.5 year old on it even if she were tall enough...which she isn't. She's a shortly. Barely 37in now...we go in 23 days.

ToT isn't really too rough on the body physically, and a 40-inch kid fits fine in the restraint, so it's just a matter of the kid's personality and whether they'll enjoy the ride. Mine enjoyed it at age 2, 3, and beyond. I on the other hand dislike ToT. Good thing DH loves the thrill rides an happily takes the thrill-seeking kids in our family on all of them.

She JUST hit the 40" mark on our April trip which was 1 month after she turned 4.
