Dinner before MVMCP

Hi!

We've never been to Disney in December and are going to MVMCP on 12/17. We plan to tour the deluxe resorts that morning and head to MK at 4 (hopefully they allow party guests in at 4!). We have an ADR at Ohana for 10am and planned to eat an early dinner at Columbia Harbor House around 4:30 (since I've heard they close at 5). But now I'm hearing that QS locations in MK are a zoo so now I'm considering eating an early dinner at Roaring Fork (maybe 3?) at Wilderness Lodge since that's the last resort we'll be touring before the party.

Would you suggest dinner at MK or WL?

I really don't want to waste park time eating, especially if CHH is extremely busy. But I'm also worried about the bus not making it to MK from WL by 4 or so.

Hi! You can actually take a boat from the WL to MK. Should be faster than buses. Also, we usually do a 4:00 dinner at the Plaza on party nights. Usually in and out within an hour and I just love the Plaza even though its simple sandwiches. Then if we get hungry later we hit Casey's for snacks before the final parade.

I usually eat at Cosmic Ray's before the party. It's busy, but it doesn't seem any worse than the QS normally are when it's a meal time. Still, a resort QS is a good option if you want to avoid crowds.

WL has a boat? I didn't know that.

The Roaring Fork has a decent food selection and the boat ride over the MK is easy. You may also want to look at Contempo Cafe at the CR, and then you have the option of taking the monorail or walking to the MK.

We like Whispering Canyon. We are doing that at 2 then taking the boat over to MK. You can get into the park with the MVMC tickets at 4PM

Yup! It actually has two, so be sure to get on the one that goes from WL to MK (left side of the dock when facing the water). It's a nice ride on the boat, but the dock does not have any shade.

Thanks for the info! The boat sounds much better than catching the bus!

I've been looking at the menu for Contempo and Roaring Fork and both sound pretty good! Do you prefer one over the other?

I'm a big fan of lunch at Whispering canyon. You could get one of the last lunch slots as an alternative to roaring forks. It's never crowded at lunch, so service is pretty quick. Roaring forks is a solid choice too.

We're also doing an early dinner pre-MVMCP, but we're coming from Epcot and doing San Angel.

We love the WL but in terms of the easy of ordering and food selection I prefer the Contempo Cafe - but it's a tough call. As of February the Roaring Fork didn't have the automated ordering system that some of the other resort counter services have and the Contempo Cafe does.
