Fridge Status Check-in *SEE FIRST POST

We checked into Pop today. I was told I could not have a credit if it wasn't a medical necessity. I told them I booked this package a year ago with a fridge and we were staying for 13 days and Garden Grocer was delivering today. They told me I could use the fridge at the front desk. I finally asked to speak to the manager and finally got my credit, but I had to work for it.

EXCUSE ME???? They wanted you to leave your food at the front desk fridge!? I think not!! Were they serious? Sorry but thats disgusting. I would never! how do I know what the staff are doing to my food when im not there? So lets say i wanted milk for my cereal, i'd have to come up to the front desk to get it? Wow!! just wow. Im guessing the CM you spoke with was either new, or severely misinformed.

Here's another question. Are they offering this to everyone at pop? Cause if so, that must be one massive fridge!

Its actually a large-ish walk-in cooler in Bell services, the same place they'll hold your GG/WGS orders if you aren't in your room when they arrive. I would suspect the area is under video surveillance, and I doubt any Bell Services or Front Desk CM would be willing to risk their job by tampering with your food just like they wouldn't risk their job going through your luggage that you have held at Bell Services or delivered by DME.

Yes, if you wanted to retrieve milk for cereal in the morning, you would have to go to the Bell Services counter outside the main building, have them bring you your milk, use it, and have them put it back for you if you didn't use the whole container. The point of the $15 per night room credit is to offset the cost of you going to the pre-pack section in Everything Pop and getting a single-serve milk, snack, or other beverage that you would have otherwise bought in advance and stored in the fridge you expected to be there. Of course you could just apply that credit to souvenirs and food throughout your trip and use the money saved to buy a fridge (an 8-night stay's worth of credits would buy a 4.6 cubic foot fridge/freezer from walmart.com including tax with free shipping) then just sell or even give away the fridge if you don't want to ship/take it home.

Does anyone know when refrigerators will be put back in at All Star Music? We are checking in November 10th. I am hoping for a fridge.

Wow 49 trips that's a lot. How can I become a part of the family. Have they all been at POP because POP just installed fridges in 2012. And seriously how do I become a part of the family to go with you. My DH is making us wait a couple years after this trip to go again. :)

Yes, when we checked in to Music Aug. 4 I asked about the fridge and the cm tried to sell me on leaving the food at the front. When I told her that the whole purpose was to avoid the walk back and forth she told me I could buy a small cooler at the gift shop for $6.95. I finally asked for the credit and she replied cheerfully that we could have one if we wanted it. Um, yes!
They will try anything to accommodate you other than offering the credit unless asked for.

Just thought I would post for everyone's info. that since our trip is paid for in full before we arrive and we never leave credit card info. for room charging I asked for a gift card for the fridge credit. I was told that I would have to buy one myself and was given the credit in cash instead.

Well, we check in at AS Movies tomorrow and we will pass along word. I am a Type 1 diabetic and have called twice in the past 2 weeks to request a fridge. I was told no problem both times. Fingers are crossed.

So whats considered a medical condition. My mom has alot of medications and most of them say must take with food. We need a fridge. Going back and forth is not really an option. If we cant get a fridge at sports will they give us a credit?

Just got to Pop today. We are in the 60s section. The fridge is physically in the room but it is unplugged and has a note on it saying not to use it because of the recent difficulties.

Checked into Coronado Springs today. Had requested a fridge for DHs medicine. There was one in the room, seems to be a new one!

Really? :confused3

Do you ever eat at any restaurant, TS, CS, fast food, etc, ANY? Why do you find it so gross and unreasonable to leave food with the front staff at the hotel but it is perfectly acceptable to eat food prepared by complete strangers and served by complete strangers? I guess I just don't understand why hotel CMs would be so much more likely to do something gross to your food but anyone else that comes into contact with your food never would?!

I can understand, accept and completely agree with the fact that it is an inconvenience to have to walk to the lobby everytime you wanted a snack but the nontrust issue is beyond me especially since these are the same people you have given your credit card and other personal information to.

Checked into POFQ the 19th ... The first room they assigned us we didn't like the location (it also did not have a fridge). The room we did end up moving to is awesome and we have a new fridge. When they were looking to assign us a different room I did ask for a fridge and they told me they didn't know which rooms had fridges or not so when we got in the room to see if there was one in the room and if not to call the front desk and ask for one but the chances were really slim of getting one. At this point they offered me a $15 credit however I told them I would rather have a fridge than a credit so I would call and request one if we didn't have one. We had to wait a bit to get into the room so maybe they sent over some Disney magic because our room had a new fridge???:scratchin

My son has a medical condition that requires daily injections that need to be refrigerated. We have requested a refrigerator on our reservations for medical reasons so I hope it will be available at check in at pop. If we don't get one it will be an inconvenience but the $15 room credit is pretty generous for the trouble. I think we will be fine either way but my only concern with using the fridge at the front desk is if we will have to wait in line behind people checking in to get to our meds since we administer it a bedtime and the front desk is always low on staff at night. Does anyone know what the procedure is on this?

We stayed at CSR--preferred room --Casitas building 2--this past week and had a working refrigerator.

Checked into AoA LM room # 9828 on 8/15 and there was a fridge unplugged with a sign saying not to plug it in & not to use it. We called & asked for a fridge & one was brought to our room within 40 mins.

Do you think the fridges will all be replaced over the next 2 months, or is that just wishful thinking? We are staying at Pop and I know that is one of the resorts with very few working fridges at this time.

Checked into All star movies Herbie section 8/16-8/17 ... No fridge

Checked into Grand Floridian 8/17, Boca Chica TPV...working fridge.

Not exactly a "first-hand" report, but we check-in to our Studio at BWV on Sept 11th and received this letter in the mail today:
