Main Street Bakery...like any other Starbucks now?

Is the Main Street Bakery the same as any other Starbucks now? Or do they still bake some of the same items they used to? We used to enjoy their cinnamon rolls very much and I'm wondering if they still have them, or if they still have any of the Disney-only items?

There are a few Disney items, and I believe they are only sold after a certain time (11am maybe?).

The cinnamon roll is no longer there but can be found at Gaston's tavern but apparently the frosting is different.

Ok, thanks for this info. I wish the cinnamon roll was still there. DH and I used to get one to share before leaving the park for our afternoon break.

Which Disney items are there? Anything different than other spots? Or is it the usual Rice Krispie treats, plain cupcakes, etc.? Trying to see if it's still worth paying a visit (not fans of Starbucks...I know, not typical of New Yorkers!). We do stay at BWV so we have the Boardwalk Bakery to enjoy, but we used to love Main Street bakery.

I can't answer your questions - we haven't been since they changed the bakery over.

I can tell you that I read on here (DIS) that the 'old' Main Street Bakery cinnamon rolls had white frosting (which sounds right we used to love them too).....apparently the ones at Gaston's have brownish frosting (maple syrup flavored?). So you know what to kind of look out for - according to reviews on here - white = good; brown = not as good.

Not a fan of Starbucks either so we're really sad to lose Main Street Bakery!

There are a billion posts about. I'm sure if you did a search you could find out the exact info you're looking for! :hippie:

From photos i've seen and reviews i've read, it sounds like it's just like any other Starbucks (except a little more pricey) and there are more restrictions - no refills for a discounted price, you can't redeem Starbucks rewards, etc. They do serve some Disney bakery treats but it's only after 11 or 11:30.

I'm a HUGE Starbucks fan but I can go to Starbucks anytime when i'm at home...when i'm at Disney, I want Disney stuff. So i'm a little disappointed about Starbucks taking over MSB :sad1:

Sort of like the homogenization of every shopping center. At least when I travel whether for vacation or sports, I can eat and drink the same old stuff :sad2:. Wouldn't want anything unique.

Yes, it's disappointing to me too. I like the more unique things at Disney that are different than home. I guess I will utilize the bakeries in the WS at Epcot more, as well as the BW Bakery when I want something sweet!

Is the main street confectionary at least still the same?

To us, "Disney Has Left The Building!"

Oh Yes. We were there in October, looked at the menu, and walked out. The Main Street Bakery and Fountainview in Epcot are both a Starbucks on steroids, but not in the nicest way. This is definitely a step backward for the Disney Experience.

Not for everyone. My wife loves Starbuck's coffee and bemoans the lack of good coffee at WDW so for her it is definitely a positive. And for the boys and I it is a plus because a happy Mom means more trips to Disney.:cool1:

THIS!!!

I know that people aren't happy but I for one am thrilled to get a decent cup o joe at Disney!
I only wish it were all four parks. :dance3:

This will be our first trip since the change over. Since I never went into the original Main Street Bakery, I won't know what I missed; which I guess is a blessing. However, on a side note, I love Starbucks coffee and plan on stopping in here for the very first time just because it has Starbucks coffee.

Considering how busy the Starbucks is I don't think MSB is as missed as everyone thinks.

I think the change has less to do with MSB being gone and the fact that it is a Starbucks - I did hear some people complaining about the fancy coffees and that they just want a "normal" coffee - whatever - you can get a cup of instant coffee somewhere else in the parks.

As for MSB's cinnamon rolls - personally I think were way overrated - they looked way better then they actually were - and to be clear they did not bake them here - it all came from a central kitchen

Al that being said it is kind of annoying that they did this - but that is what people want - it's kind of like all these people that go to NYC and then eat at Ruby Tuesday - why would you wait in line for the same generic food you can get at home and it cost 2-3 times as much??? Not that the food is Disney is all that better....

Anyway I would have preferred that Disney just served decent coffee throughout the parks and kept MSB as is- they have already messed up so many of my childhood memories of Disney - but in the end the Starbucks does the job and I'm sure Disney is making a nice profit on this.

Now if they could just get Nathan's to come in and solve the Hot Dog problems at Casey.s...LOL...

We just came back from a week long trip and while I completely understand the argument that Starbucks is not special and you can find one on every corner at home, being able to get a decent cup of coffee with REAL cream made me very happy.

I hate the coffee that is served at the resorts and loathe the fact that you can't find real half and half/cream. The packets of non-refrigerated coffee mate taste like chemicals to me. Yes if you ask, the resort staff will provide milk but that is not nearly the same as cream and it is a pain to find someone to help you when it is busy in the morning.

So for us, since we are at the parks at rope drop, being able to get a good, strong cup of coffee with cream was a major bonus. I also appreciated being able to use our snack credits to buy any size and type of drink that we wanted.

Just my opinion and I guess that what it comes down to what people prefer - I don't eat cinnamon rolls so happier to have the coffee option.

I don't love Starbucks coffee, but I would pay for it over Disney coffee, which is really terrible. We have had snacks at MSB and were unimpressed. So I am thinking that Starbucks is an improvement over MSB.
