Well I guess it pays to be an insomniac. I was just able to snag a reservation for Ohana at 7:45 PM on the day we arrive instead of the next day at 9:10PM. I usually have a lot of luck when I search in the wee hours of the morning. It's how I got good times for our last trip too. We usually eat late due to DH's schedule but we don't eat that heavy that late. This way we will be able to eat, walk around the resort a bit, watch EWP, then Wishes and then hit the hay without going to sleep with extremely full bellies.

I am so excited this morning and I just wanted to share with y'all! Booked a room for 10/15-10/22, standard view using room only discount!!!!

I have been trying for 2 weeks for any room and something finally became available. We have been to WDW many times but this is our first F&W!!!!

Haven't stayed at Poly since July 2010. And our last trip was July 2011 at BC. Can't wait!!!!

Congratulations!! I am so happy for you!! You are going to have an awesome time!!

I finally finished reading all 169 pages of the thread, whew! I noticed that my question about wishes music in the lagoon view rooms was answered a few pages later than I had made it to at the time I posted the question. That's just my luck  I wish it did come through the TV. Last year we had a GV CL room, and the time we went to the beach instead of the lounge to watch wishes we coudn't hear the music at all. I'm not sure if speakers were broken or what. So there's no way, based on our experience last year, that we'll hear that from our balcony. I guess we'll just have to wait and see :confused3 Not a big deal.

I am also a little nervous about the view not being great after reading about the possible DVC construction that starts in September. Hopefully it won't be bad. It would be a bummer if the first time we splurge on a lagoon view it gets "ruined" by construction. I'll just hope it won't be bad from Hawaii, if it does get started. I'm also crossing my fingers we get our third floor request. I don't want to go as far as to say having a second floor room would ruin our vacation, but I would be extremely dissappointed. it kind of annoys me that the second floor rooms aren't less expensive and another booking category, as IMHO not having a balcony or patio, particularly with a LV or TPV room, is a big detriment. My DH gave me the OK to take an early flight so we can get there and have the best chance of working with them if our request wasn't met initially. Usually he wants to not be rushed, particulatly since we will both work the day before we leave.

But I'm super excited to have a trip in the works, our first time as a family of 4- my DS will be 6 months at the time. That's why my DH was only willing to stay at the poly - we can walk to both the MK and EP monorail with the stroller and not have to fold it up and juggle it on a bus. I'll be lucky if he agrees to go to the AK at all this trip, and we'll probably get to DHS by monorail to EP and walking to the studios. He really hates the buses. I get it, but to me it isn't that big of a deal.

I can't believe I'm able to say this............We leave for WDW in 2 days!!! So super excited to stay at the Poly for the first time. I can't even stand it! :yay:

I'm sure you will love the Poly for the atmosphere and convenience! I wouldn't worry about the construction. When will you be there? If it's before January, both pools and the GCH will be open with no construction.

Us too!!! See you tomorrow!!

Have fun!! I have 2 wks and 3 days until I'm back at the Poly.

Sent from my Galaxy SII

Congratulations on both your trips!! Have an awesome time at the Poly!!

My youngest just started back to school today so travel for us is curtailed until break times. Just wish my boys had their breaks and days off at the same time. My eldests college works on a different schedule than the high schools.

Deborah...you've been "trying for 2 weeks for any room"? Are you talking about many resorts or just the Poly seemed to be booked heavily?

I think Disney may be getting savvy about us making multiple dining reservations. I was trying to get Ohana for a better time early this morning and it kept telling me I already had a dining reservation. I had to cancel the existing reservation, close my browser, and then log back on before it would allow me to get the reservation I wanted. I had never had that happen before. LOL I was praying the whole time that someone wouldn't grab the reservation while I was cancelling and rebooting my browser. I am not sure if it was a glitch or something because I just searched for the same time and no warning came up although I did not hit the button for a certain time.

That's weird. Whenever I've had another reservation within whatever window the system uses, it's allowed me to cancel the original one while holding the new one--it all appears to be part of the same transaction, although I do get separate confirmation emails for the cancellation and new reservation. I've done it several times over the years, including one a few days ago, without a hitch.

I'm packing for our trip and just realized I had no idea if there are coat hangers in the closet areas. Should I pack as many as I need? I'm bringing mostly dresses so I'll be wanting to hang up a good bit of stuff.

I realize you've received the answer (request more from housekeeping) but just wanted to let you know that I always need extra hangers and they will give you as many as you need - and the type you need (for skirts/pants or for blouses/dresses).

Are there irons in the rooms? One of my dresses for the trip is cotton, and I know it will need to be ironed.

Oh yes! The iron and ironing board is in the closet. If for some reason it isn't there, just call housekeeping - but it SHOULD be there.

Congrats to all going to the Poly soon! Feel free to post updates, pictures, or just random thoughts of relaxation :beach:

Must have been a glitch last night then. It absolutely would not allow me to take the time I wanted until I cancelled the first reservation and then downed my browser and brought it back up. I have always done reservations the way you do and never had a problem until last night.

That is great to know about the hangers. I have always avoided bringing stuff that needs to be hung because there are usually so few and not the type I would need.

I never thought to ask, thanks! DH and I always iron and hang a couple at a time so we're not doing it in the morning (yes, I know we look like crap after 10 minutes in the heat but it's habit to press everything. We are nutty.).

2 days for us too! Though we'll be at the GF for a bit before getting over to the Poly! Woo hoo! :cool1:

I was talking about the Poly here, I wasn't clear, sorry.

It's a very busy time with the F&W festival and many deluxe resorts are booked heavily. Not much availability with the room only discount.
