Do you happen to know which resorts are selling the new mugs, and do you have to be staying there to buy the new ones?

Youngest DS and DH's favorite color is orange, and they would LOVE one or two! Lol

I'm currently at Port Orleans French Quarter and they have the purple, green and orange cups, none of the old colors. The RFID isn't on yet though.

I don't drink a lot of soda. But, on vacation I like to have a Diet Coke for dinner at Pop Century. Will I be able to buy a drink in a paper cup or is that gone now? I'm guessing it will have to be in a purchased bottle or can?

I'm thinking I should just bring a couple of sodas from home.

from what I am hearing the paper cup is still there but has time limit on it--I believe an hour

I read somewhere about the cup couldn't be programmed for more than 14 days, so what happens if we're staying longer? We're staying for 21 nights, with QSDP that includes the cup for the length of stay...

What bad colours! They likely won't appeal to many people. Black, blue and pink were far more appealing IMO

If we have to have the same picture I'm pretty excited by these colors. Orange is DS's favorite color and I love green.

My understanding is length of stay is a price but after the 14 days a CM need to added the remaining days to your mug for you vacation. They re-scan it i guess.

I am traveling this fall and have a TIW card for the first time. It does work at some of the quick service areas at the resorts. Anyone know if the discount excludes or includes buying the mugs. Would be nice if it does

Since they actually change the colors for the mugs, I don't think they will come up with a new design.

With that being said, I do hope that they will have a new design soon!

Don't know if this will help anyone with a split stay but we were at the Contemporary for 8 nights and had the black, pink and blue mugs, my daughter and friend were at ASMu and had orange and green. We saw lots of people at the CR with different colors than what they sold filling up their mugs so we just assumed they were for "length of stay" like the sign states.

However, when we got over to ASMu our mugs didn't work, seems they have a chip in the bottom of their mugs lol. They also have someone manning the stations. They did tell me I could go talk to a manager and see if they would do something about it but I didn't really want to bother.

So apparently at CR you can bring your mugs from your first resort, but at ASMu they put chips in the bottom of them and you have to place it on the grate below the soda machine in order for the soda machine to work.

I am still very much confused and hoping someone can help... We too have a split stay, from my understanding they will activate it at the poly (first part of our stay) but then when I move over to OKW will they deactivate? Will I not be able to use them anymore?

That's what happened to us with CR and ASMu from August 4th through the 13th. Again they did tell me if I went to see a manager they "may" be able to do something for me They're not clear on the "length of stay" I believe it's for the resort not your vacation judging by my experience but they will accommodate you if you go through the trouble to ask.

Maybe I misunderstood but I thought you had the old mugs not the new RFID mugs.

We went to the Contemporary first and received the new mugs with our Dining Plan (2 black, 1 Pink and 1 Blue) and then we went over to ASMu and couldn't use them. My daughter was staying at ASMu and received hers with her Dining Plan and brought them to the CR from ASMu and used them at the Contemporary once and I saw many people with Orange, Green and other colors they do not sell at CR using them at the Cafe in the CR (they only sell black, blue and pink at CR) using them no problem so I was surprised when mine didn't work at ASMu when we moved over there considering they were the same style, just a different color.

Again, I believe the "length of stay" is for the resort, not the vacation, but they will accommodate you if you ask. Oh and to complicate things further for you lol a woman brought hers to the park and asked about filling it and they told her "those are for resorts only" and she said "can I use them at all the resorts?" and the cm said "yes, we do however sell souvenir cups here for all the parks" Again, I don't know...Disney needs to get on the same page lol.

Your black, pink and blue mugs didn't work at ASMu because they've started using the soda dispensers with the RFID technology which requires a chip in the bottom of the mug, which the orange, green and purple mugs have. Your daughter's mugs worked at CR because CR hasn't started using the RFID soda dispensers yet.

RFID stands for Radio Frequency ID. Your KTTW card now has an RFID chip in it which allows you to tap your card to your room door and I believe you also now tap it to a reader in order to enter the parks.

I know it says Validfill, but this video was linked in a thread when the testing was done at ASSp a couple years ago, so I assume this is the company whose technology is being used.

RFID mugs have the chip that activates the mug for use in the new machines. It sounds like you have old mugs which would not work at ASMu because they have switched machines to the RFID machines. Does your mug say Rapid Fill on it anywhere? My guess is no. The new mugs are green, purple and orange and have a Rapid Fill logo on them. Those are the RFID mugs, and the most current mug available. The new mugs are good at any resort, but not at the parks (for now anyway).

Nope. It looks like they are sticking with the pool scene. If they were going to make a new design, they would have done it for the new system rollout. Just the added logo and new colors. The rest of the design is the same.

The pink, blue and black mugs are the old mugs. The new mugs are orange, purple and green with an RFID chip in them. The length of stay and being able to use them at other resorts are only the new mugs. Which is why yours didn't work. The old mugs cost less than the new mugs.

Hmmm, I was told that we couldn't use the mugs at any other resort...I agree, I think it would be awesome if we could use them at another resort...

The new ones can be used at any resort. POR is set up to go and have been selling the new ones for a little bit now. I believe the new system will start around the 23rd for POR
