we're going to be celebrating my DD's Birthday in Disney next month and I am considering ordering her a cake. Can't have a 6 year old's Birthday without cake, right?! On her Birthday we have CRT breakfast planned and dinner at Trail's End. I'm leaning toward having a mini wedding cake type at the end of our breakfast meal because it's "fancier" according to my DD. Our reservation is at 9:10am, is it possible to have a cake for an early ADR?

Secondly, can the mini cakes be customized at all or does it have to be the white buttercream with the colored tiny mickey heads all over it? I was thinking of still having it buttercream but maybe pink with black mickey heads all over it? Not sure what all is possible. I'm leaning toward the mini cakes because we only have a family of 3 and do not want to figure out what to do with a ton of extra cake after our meal.

Yes, you can get a cake for a breakfast ADR! We did it last year at Crystal Palace. We also chose the mini cake, and it was pink and white with Minnie ears on top.

awesome, thank you! How much was it and how did you go about ordering it? Also what flavor was the cake and any filling?

oh and I see a candle on top, did you bring that yourself or do they supply it? Do they also light it for you? Thanks for your help!!

It was vanilla, with vanilla buttercream frosting, no special filling, just the vanilla frosting between the layers. I didn't request a special filling, so I'm not sure what is available. I ordered it about ten days before our trip, using the number on the first page of this thread. I was quoted $35 and that's what the final cost was. They added it to my bill at Crystal Palace. I wasn't crazy over feeling obligated to tip 18% of the cake cost, but oh well, I did anyway.

They supplied the candle and lit it for us. I didn't even think to bring a candle.

The servers made a fuss over the cake. DD enjoyed the extra attention. Even Tigger came over to see what was going on. :goodvibes

thank you so much jcemom, you've been so helpful.

DD saw the Cinderella slipper dessert at CRT and liked that too so that's an option and then maybe get a cheap podium cake at Trail's End that evening. anyone know if Trail's End does the "podium" cakes?

I am going to have a hard time deciding what to actually get, there's so many choices!!!

Creative help needed!

So I'm headed back to WDW in October for the ToT 10 Miler. My friend is doing it with me, and another friend is joining us for the 5k in the morning. I'd love to get a custom cake with a running theme, but I've googled and googled, and there's nothing RunDisney, ToT 10 miler, disney running, etc. related to bring to Chef Brian or one of the other bakeries. Any ideas? ToT is Villians related, but I'd like to encorporate the running into it. And for only 3 of us, I'm guessing 6 inches is plenty.

TIA!

What about this sort of feel of this? Maybe you could get a print out of the Villans and maybe running shoes around the edge?

Every Disney-owned restaurant except Victoria & Albert's has podium cakes. :)

Is there anywhere to see a list of available cakes and prices? We are travelling a week before dd1 turns 7 so will do an early cake.
Thanks.

There is no list of standard cakes and prices because there really aren't any standard cakes, except for the Mickey head cake. The closest thing they have are these sample photos of the various sizes of cakes available in the Magic Kingdom:

Pretty much every order is a custom order, so you just need to call the number for the place where you want the cake delivered and describe what you'd like the cake to look like. You can find phone numbers and standard flavor options in Post #2 of this thread. :thumbsup2

Hello, Cake Chatter-ers!
Last year you all helped me order two WONDERFUL cakes for our Illuminations Cruise, so I am hoping I can get some advice this year!

I have some good friends going to WDW this November. It's a first time trip for 3 of the adults and the two kids, and a 'first time in a long time' trip for the grandparents. Because it will probably be the only trip for many in the party, they are doing it 'right': 7 park days, monorail resort, MVMCP, and DDP.

I wanted to do a little something to make the trip even more magical, so I thought of ordering one of the 8 inch cakes to be delivered to either their room or one of their ADRs.

My concern with doing it to the room is if they aren't in - I know their general schedule as I have helped them with ADRs and planning, but I know things can change and have even encouraged them not to live by the schedule. However, my concern with delivering for an ADR is if they decide to change times or cancel it altogether.

Any thoughts? Other suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!

Sending it to the room still seems like a surer bet than a restaurant. If it's small enough, Private Dining can stick it in the fridge, though I s'pose then there's the risk that they won't discover the cake at all! I think you can take a number of steps to ensure that the cake is in decent shape when they get back to the room:

1) Have it delivered around bedtime or just before. If you know they're going to want to see fireworks, 9 or 9:30 might be a good time cuz then it'll only be an hour or so before they're back in the room (OK, unless they do EMH).

2) Get a fondant-covered cake. This should hold up fine in your typical air-conditioned resort room—better than buttercream or whipped cream.

3) Don't get any spoil-able mousse/custard fillings, just do chocolate or vanilla buttercream.

:thumbsup2

We had a cake delivered to our room while we were out all day & it was in perfect shape when we got back from the parks. They set the table up really nice! It was a great surprise for my daughter, I'm actually doing this again in October it worked out so well.

Has anyone ever had a cake delivered to the room in CBR if you are not there? We will be at Pioneer Hall and I would love to have the mickey mouse cake set up for my daughters birthday when we get back to the rooms?

What are the experiences with CBR and cakes?

A couple years ago I had a great Nemo cake from the GF bakery for Citricos. We are going again right after Labor Day and wonder if people are having good luck with their fancy cakes still. Mine at the time was beautiful plus tasted great with custard and strawberries in the filling, etc. I think it was Pat Anderson (maybe) who I talked to then.
Who does one talk to now and how have their cakes been?

Thanks!

It is still Pat at GF. I am working with her right now on a cake for my DH Birthday. Sorry I can't answer the rest of your questions, but I know that someone will :)

We had a cake done in May. It was only a mini cake but my DH said it was the best cake he had ever eaten. We had chocolate cake with chocolate icing (he loves chocolate an it was for his birthday).

Would it better to call or email to order a cake to be delivered to chef mickey?

I made my call through the number on page one, so helpful! Got right through to a gentleman who was sooo friendly and kind...sent him two inspiration pictures...I just love flowers/garden feel...told him to just let the decorators use these pictures for inspiration on an 8"...awaiting the cost :)

We'll be there Friday the 13th of September :) I get to plan my own birthday cake! Excited!! Thanks for all the helps here! :)

I got our cake from the contemporary at hoop dee doo today. It was great, $65 and nothing spectacular but what I asked for. It was Ed with a big red bow on top and a couple white polka dots. Hoop dee doo was prepared so tax and tip were prepayed. I got the bill for the cake $65 plus tax brinin it to $69.43 or something. And an 18 percent gratuity was added uhhhhhh no way. I had asked them to keep he cake in the box an to just bring it to th table at the end we were taking it back to our room. I asked the server about the gratuity and he said it was just automatic and. Would ask his anger to remove it. They did the bill came back with the cake plus tax and then the suggested 18 or 20 percent. I payed $69.43 there is Norway I am paying extra tip! Crazy. Interesting to note that if you orde a drink there. You pay for the drink plus tax and automatic 18 percent gratuity. Even tho your meal tip was already paid. Ridiculous.
