Yacht Club Completely Booked in Oct??

It seems like everyday I try for the Yacht Club is booked. Does anyone know why that is?

October is very popular for the Epcot resorts due to F&W going on. Plus there could be a convention going on that is taking up some of the room inventory.

We have always gone during October. There has never been this problem before. It's weird.

I would call. The website has been giving me "nothing available" quite a bit for all times during the year for all resorts. If I keep playing with it, sometimes I do get availability, but calling is easier and there has been availability. :goodvibes

There's definitely a huge conference the week of 10/6 that pretty much books up all the Epcot hotels. I am seeing availability for the couple of weeks after that.

Food & Wine Festival, for sure, but I'd give Disney a call just to double check. :confused3

Do your dates include weekend stays? Try to use just single days from your trip instead of the entire length of trip. It's entirely possible that they are entirely booked on say Fri/Sat night, and so they won't show you any availability. Fri/Sat would be prime nights for people wanting to do F&W, and that messes up anyone trying to book a whole week.

The first weekend of Oct is the ToT 10 Miler, and both Yacht/Beach Club are host resorts for the race, so some rooms were booked/set aside for that purpose, both for RunDisney direct, as well as some 3rd party tour operators.

I was trying individual days. I finally got a free date starting on the 26th. Maybe I just waited longer than normal, but it still seems so big to me.

Have you tried hotel reservation sites outside of Disney? Travelocity still has lagoon/water view rooms for under $400 in early October (their awesome garden view rates for the same time are booked, apparently). I'd look at Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, etc., or call Disney reservations.

What days are you trying? I know its booked up from the 22nd-25th. Its open the beginning of that week though.

It might be the days you are trying to book. Originally we tried booking 10/10-10/13 but only the 10th through the 12th was available. The next day the 13th became available so we were able to add on. The Gartner conference is the first week of October and I believe they book a lot of rooms at BC and YC off for that. Plus you have the F&WF, MNSSHP and Columbus Day weekend. October is becoming a busy month there! I would just keep trying, you never know what might pop up!

We just called to try to book Oct. 5-12 (and all the days between individually) and could not find a studio or 1 br at any of the dvc resorts except OKW - and that was during the middle of the week. (BTW, I didn't ask why but the price we were quoted for a studio at OKW was WAY higher than it should have been. Again, don't know what was special about it.) POR only had a royal, waterfront room. However, Pop still had basic rooms. Weird. We often go at this time of the year and have NEVER had any difficulty getting a room. In fact, there's usually a wide choice!!! Also, park hours are pretty short during this week. They definitely haven't been extended yet to accommodate crowds.

Just checked: Gartner Symposium is the 6th to the 10th.

That's definitely it. I've been to that conference a few times and there are usually about 7,500 attendees. That's a lot of hotel rooms! The good news is that those people don't really go to the parks so the hotels are crowded but the parks are nice and empty. :cool1:
