Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

We will be checking into CBR Sept 2!!! So excited! I have a pirate room booked because I know the kids would love it but we don't have a rental car, we'll be taking the buses. Would it be better to ask to be put in a room closer to OPR and the pool? Or is it really not that bad? I have a 7 year old and a 3 year old and we'll have a double stroller.

We just got back from CBR on 8/10. We had a great experience and some Pixie Dust! We booked a standard room with preference to Jamaica and Aruba. When we got there we got surprised with an upgrade to a Pirate room, however we had to turn it down because my DD (3) is scared of Pirates and that is why we didn't book one to begin with. Well, I'm guessing they are not used to people turning down an upgrade because 1- 15 minute phone call later, we we were moved to Trinidad North (Preferred) with a water view all as a free upgrade.

Trinidad North did not have refrigerators, so when my DH called to check on this and if it was possible to get one, on top of everything else they issued us a $15 a night credit for the inconvenience.

CBR was very beautiful, very clean, the pools were great and we really liked the food court. I would say the only issue was a few waits for buses, but that happens everywhere. We would definitely stay here again!

30 more days and we will be checking into the Caribbean for the first time! Actually it's our first trip and s this will be our first resort stay! We will be in a Pirate room and I have requested to be in Trinidad North to be closest to the main pool area! Does anyone know if these rooms have the refrigerators back in them?

What they meant by which Trinidad room you wanted to be in was the number within the Trinidad South village 34-39 as you could see on a CBR map. It's not letting me post the link, to the map, sorry! But you should be able to search it easily on the disboards. I'd vote for 34 or 35 if I was you! :)

Have a great time! CBR is the best!

So it's my first time at CBR, 10/22-10/29, and my first time with FD! Rather than search endlessly through the boards to find this information...Can anyone please direct me to where we should request to stay? I do online check in for a standard room in 6 days!

Also, any rumblings of magic bands being tested during October? :)

You don't have to look too far to find a map. There's a link to one in post #1 of this thread.

Thank you trishadono for the awesome pics!!

mrsparker, our first trip is in October and we're staying at CBR too! Can't wait to hear your post-trip thoughts on it.

MidwestMulan, so glad you had fun, and how awesome to get an upgrade!!

My vote would be with martinique or jamaica, but Id be happy anywhere at cbr as its a great resort Im sure your gonna love!:cool1:

We ended up in Jamaica 46 which is awesome!! Right by the bus stop and a close walk to old port royale.

Ooo, that is a great spot. Tell us how you like it. Is your room one of the mildly re-habbed rooms ?
When we visited CBR we fell in love with Jamaica village in particular. Must have been the colors, LOL ! Its seems very close to everything, and Jamaica pool/beach area seems great.
We reserved a waterfront room for october and requested Jamaica. Hopefully we will get 44 or 45 looking out over the pool / lake .
Have a good time !

Hello all-
Just got back from CBR- 8/5 - 8/14. Had some issues at the start but as is the Disney way, they took care of it. My family and I have stayed at CBR a total of 12 times. I feel that the resort is in need of some "refreshing." The grounds are beautiful and lush but the rooms to me at least, need some attention. We've never really complained about this resort except for our last two stays - and we don't plan on staying anywhere else. However, I wanted to mention this to see if this has been experienced or if other CBR enthusiasts feel the same way.

Here's what we found in our room at check in:
- A/C not working
- Two bulbs over our vanity not working
- Shower valve handle fell off
- Female hair (handful) in tub
- Mildew on tub surround
- Clock not working
- Wet rug

Now, last time we were there in 2011, we had a broken fridge, moldy smell in the room and a dirty toilet. We had housekeeping come and clean the room and the A/C fixed but am I wrong in telling them that the housekeepers should be more vigilant? I was a little perturbed because we spent 2 hours taking care of these issues. They finally changed our rooms but we were a bit surprised that these things happen when someone must have noticed these issues prior to them giving us the room. At $170.00 a night, I shouldn't be spending 2 hours of my precious Disney time rectifying housekeeping and maintenance issues.
Disney did comp me for one night and apologized extensively. As I told the supervisor, I love the resort and don't want to read/hear negative reviews about it. These issues should not happen.

By the way, our room had a fridge....and it worked!!!

......and for those who need pictures, just pm me and I can get you pictures of the resort. I've taken tons over the years and I walked the resort this last trip and took pictures of the grounds and buildings, etc.

Oh so sorry! Our air was actually too cold and had to turn it down. My first ever too cold disney room.:confused3

I just posted some pics but didn't get any night shots. So please get some if possible.

Thanks in advance!

I think refurb next year would fix a lot of your complaints and your next trip more magical:goodvibes

we have been lucky, all of our past stays have been great with no issues at all. Glad to hear they responded to your concerns, lets hope this kind of situation happens rarely, as I know things can t always be perfect and at times be neglected. Overall I do think most of the staff at cbr are great and go out of their way to please!:thumbsup2

Anyone know what time the Old Port Royale food court is open until at night ? We are coming in pretty late in October, around 11-11:30 PM and will likely be a little hungry whn we finally get to CBR. Will the food court be an option for us, or should we plan on something else.

Thanks,
Syndrome

If I remember correctly it was open until Midnight. Hopefully someone else that has been recently can confirm or correct me.
