Hey all...
today is checkout day from YC CL.

Sad to say that we are left less than impressed here. We were given the wrong room at checkin on Wed. night which forced us to have to change rooms for our 2 night split stay (to get the end of one discount and beginning of another). We booked the room category SV. The first room was 5170 two doors down from the lounge. Nice room but did not have a daybed & as a family of 5 we needed someplace for the fifth to sleep. I called to housekeeping for the cot and was told that there would be a $15 dollar per night charge for the cot. I told her that we are 5 and needed some place for the 5th to sleep. She argued with me a bit that there was, indeed a daybed for that 5th person to sleep and that there would be a $15 charge. I told her that I am standing in the room right now and there was only a chair. She put me on hold and came back a minute later and said "we'll bring it right up".

We did not know what room we were checking into (though we could've guessed) yesterday morning so headed off to Epcot and then to AK to do some things. Signed up for texts, and had the CL CM print room keys for me and DH so that we could charge to the room. Our first indication that something was amiss was when we tried to charge snacks to the room and it didn't work. Then when we hopped to AK, DH's Magicband did not work for entry (we'll see what happens at Studios this morning). And I get a text saying to stop by the front desk to sort out room stuff...

We return to YC CL at 3:30 and "check in". That process took approx. 45 minutes, and I ended up missing snack/drink time because the "computer" had our stuff all messed up and they are training on a new system (? wondering if it has to do with new MM+ stuff). At first it showed that our room was not ready yet!!!

We wait for snack time and decide to go to pool right after. All of us were wearing our suits under our clothes, except DD3 who was wearing hers under a coverup that basically is a dress made out of towel material (short sleeves, zips up front and goes to her knees), You could see more of DD2 & 1's swimsuit than DD3's but one of the CL lounge staff gave us a hard time for her eating in there (To be honest, I'm not sure she realized that it was basically a dress she was wearing as it is made out of towel material, but still she shouldn't speak unless she is 100% sure-kinda like if you aren't sure if someone is pregnant or just putting on some pounds)

The room we are checking out of today is 5182 it has a daybed and shares a HUGE balcony with 4 or 5 other rooms and would be great if you are traveling with a group.

We loved the pool here and the location close to EP but because of some less than magical experiences I am not sure we'd stay here again....

I'm sorry you had a less than magical experience.

Now, about your 2nd room. It has a SHARED balcony with 4 OR 5 OTHER ROOMS?
Waaaait a minute. There's at least a divider....right? I mean, it's not like someone in those other rooms could come right up to your door/slider...RIGHT?

I was about to ask the same thing.

Trip update! Here we are, on our last day in Ft Lauderdale. It has been bitter sweet. Seeing my mom who has Alzheimer's is hard. But we booked a beach hotel, and have been having good times too :beach: Deerfield is a beautiful beach. And we've had some great weather.

Right now we are at the pool, doing laundry. No sunken treasures here :sad2:
Then we will. Get packing done tonight. Will visit mom one last time for this trip, and go to beach if time allows.

Tomorrow we hit the Turnpike for wdw, 6:00 am :yay: first stop, pop check in, then TL morning. We'll have our TL bag packed with suits, etc. and leave luggage with bell service, unless our room is ready. Afternoon Publix grocery shop, while we still have car rental. Then drop off groceries to YC to hold for our arrival.

Next day check into GF for 2 nights, then YC for 12 :cheer2: and I get to have dinner with Teena before she leaves :yay:

Your trip sounds amazing!

I'm sorry to hear a out your mom and her Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's is a horrible disease and its harder on the family than it is on the patient. Unfortunately it runs in our family...out of the six siblings in my dad's family, four of them have it. I am very thankful my dad does not have it. He convinced his family to donate their brains to an Alzheimer's study at Northwestern University so they can see how it affects family members differently.

Enjoy your WDW trip and if you can, check in with us from time to time. We all love living vicariously thru live reports!

Ok so today's Magic Band update.... I just customized my band and my husbands band. When I logged in I changed the time on my check-in and then clicked on learn about Magic Bands and it brought me to confirm your mailing address and said I have 2 days (8/18) to finish customizing my bands and plans. I am staying at BCV's 9/18-9/23... So looks like it's Magic Bands for us :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Exciting!!!:thumbsup2

I saw a post saying that a family got a cot instead of a day bed in a YC CL room.

I thought that -- for rooms other than suites -- any family of 5 always got two queens and day bed. Is that not the case?

Some things I will post as 'facts': (always a little hesitant to post 'facts')

1. You can have a shared balcony at Beach Club. Not sure about 4 or 5 rooms though. From page 1 FAQ.

Almost all of the rooms at the Yacht Club have a full balcony. A few rooms have extra large balconies that may be shared with another room.
About 50% of the rooms at the Beach Club have full balconies with a table and two chairs. The remaining 50% have standing or "Juliet" balconies.

If you are staying at the Beach Club and a full balcony is important to you, you should have "Full balcony, please" as your first or only request.

When you check-in at the desk, ask about your balcony and if you are not happy with it, ask if there is a full balcony available. CMs will try their best to satisfy you. Don't do the advanced online check-in. This is for guests who will just pickup their key and go, no questions asked and is not designed for people who may request changes to their assigned room.

Think ground floor patio rooms. Can always see into those if curtains left open.

2.) There is no guarantee of a daybed. If all the rooms that have a daybed are taken you will be provided a rollaway at no charge. Not sure why CM's get this wrong.

3.) Key problem crosses other resorts and is a pain in the rear. We have experienced this at BLT, SSR and BCV's. Best setup was at BLT where they had an entry door with keyed access and could check the key right there. We had to make 3 or 4 trips to SSR lobby (a loooooong way) to get that one straightened out. I completely understand Simbas frustration.

Banana Bunny has been located by lost and found and is flying up to our house!
Melinda at lost and found is awesome

I think Banana just wanted to hang out at SAB with Buzzy and Johnny Depp

(Banana is my DDs favorite stuffed animal - we left him there Saturday)

Wonderful news! Banana clearly wanted an extended vacation.

They usually give day beds to families of five, but not always. We have stayed at the BC when we had five and got the cot once. The other four times we got the daybed.

I think I have figured it out. Look at this picture I took in April. On the top two floors, directly over the entrance, you can see the big round balcony and that there are definitely doors to rooms behind it. It is a giant balcony, but I don't know if I would be okay with it. This is the same reason why personally, I always ask for anything other than a first floor room.

I don't think we start for another week or two. However, they can't be transferred. The chips on them will only work for the length of time that you purchase or if you are on the dining plan, the length of your stay at that one resort. For people who are doing split stays between two resorts, they will have to purchase two different mugs for each resort even though the mugs look identical.

Oh boy, now I'm totally confused :confused3 easily done mind you! But from all I've read, if you are doing a split stay, you are able to have your RFID mug programmed for entire resort stay, and use it at all resorts. I was so happy that wdw finally addressed split stays and mugs!
Mind, not too happy about price increase!!

It will work that way if you purchase a mug that covers the length of your stay.

Here is a website with more information. http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2013/07/27/news-update-on-disneys-new-rapid-fill-refillable-mug/
How Will The Disney Rapid Refill Refillable Mug Program Work?

Refillable mugs will each have an RFID bar code that guests will scan at the soda fountains each time they refill their mugs.

Guests will be able to purchase mugs for a particular time frame, anywhere from one day to the length of their Disney stay. (Note that a “day” is considered one calendar day, not a 24-hour period. So if you arrive at 11:00pm and activate your mug, the first day will end at midnight that night.) Here is the current pricing:

$8.99 for 1 day
$11.99 for 2 days
$14.99 for 3 days
$17.99 for length of stay (currently set at 14 consecutive days, but may be able to be manually extended by a Cast Member)

I think the confusion comes in when people purchase the dining plan and have a split stay. The RFID mug will only cover the amount of days that you purchased with the dining plan. It will deactivate when your dining plan ends.

Sadly, when I called Drc this morning I found that there were rooms available at the poly. I asked my kids what they wanted to do and they said either place was fine. I mulled it over and Dh really had his heart set on poly and he works hard all year for us to take this wonderful trip. So I make the switch, pay the difference and tell the kids. Ds13 is now mad at me for switching. I just can't win. So I guess I need to be removed from bog list. :-(. It's been nice planning with all of you and hearing all of your reports.

We were not told that. I actually asked about a guest that comes for 3 weeks every year at the BCV and was told that length of stay is limited (I think 14 days) and he would have to buy two unless he was on dining plan for entire 3 weeks, then it would be covered. It will be interesting to see exactly how this is going to work. I was also told (and have no idea if its true or not) that you can take the mugs to all resorts and also the water parks to use during your "time period". So "length of stay" is up to a certain amount of days (I think it can't be over 14 days) and is programmed for just that, your length of stay at that resort. Since obviously this is all new, once it is rolled out at all the resorts, we'll all know exactly how it will work. In the meantime, here's what I found when searching for information:

Disney World is in the process of launching the new Rapid Fill refillable mug program live across all on-property resorts. The devices are already installed at all resorts and will be live by the end of the August.

Rapid Fill allows guests to purchase a specific number of days of refills. RFID chips are embedded in the mugs and will only allow usage for the actual purchased number of days. At the end of the period you purchased, the mug will automatically deactivate.

The Rapid Fill mugs can be used at any resort hotel quick service fountain, regardless of where it was originally purchased. Although, we are not sure how practical a benefit that will be to most guests.

Unlike the existing refillable mug program where pricing is fixed for a length of stay, the new Rapid Fill will use a tiered pricing structure. Pricing are as follows:

$8.99 for 1 day
$11.99 for 2 days
$14.99 for 3 days
$17.99 for length of stay

(Side note: days are counted as a calendar day, and not a 24 hour period!)

As with the current refillable mug program, it will be included in some Disney Dining Plan benefits. Past mugs will not be able to be reused, and a new mug will need to be purchased for each resort stay.

Mugs are all the same design, featuring the Fab 5 in a pool scene. Lids are in a range of colors, including black, green, orange, pink, purple, teal and yellow.

No, it's one big balcony that you share. It overlooks the convention center.

HelenParr and Melanieri Thanks for the responses...:goodvibes

So the lounge does close for a time to prepare for the next offering..but you can still get drinks... :thumbsup2 Does it stay open after the evening desserts are finished just for lounging?? :upsidedow I not only want my beverages..I want to lounge in the lounge too...LOL...

Another question ... I was wondering about room locations..wanted something close to the lounge...we have a GV book... MickeyT was kind enough to tell me about a sight that had the floor lay outs last time that I inquired....but I'm sorry to say that I cannot remember the name of it....

Sounds like they'll work anywhere... question would be split stays is there a way in that chip to tell the length of stay isn't up yet... Disney keeps you guessing and that's half the fun!!!

Hello All! My family and I arrive at the Beach Club in two days! We are so excited. It will be our fist stay at a deluxe resort. We have always considered the Caribbean Beach Resort our "home" away from home. I couldn't pass up a deal I got for this year to stay at the Beach Club though. I just had a quick question in regards to the refillable mugs. Has the RFID program been fully implemented at the Beach Club yet or are they still using the old mugs? I heard that the RFID machines have arrived but wasn't sure if they were up and running yet. Just curious as to what we should expect.

I'd also love to hear what other tips you might have for us while we are staying at the Beach Club. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time!

I am reading all these Magic Bands posts with great interest. Our trip isn't until late October/early November. I have an AP, DH does not. We start our trip with a 2 night stay at AKL CL and then move to BC for the last 7 nights. I imagine our combination will eventually work fine, but I am very glad not to have to try to make it all work now!

Good luck everyone!

My husband and I have AP's, and that is what is having the issues. I was able to add 2 9day parkhopper tickets for 2 other members of my party with no issues. Just my AP's. Tech support is still working on it. They are telling me that when I linked the AP's to MDE they attached somewhere but they aren't sure where:confused3. They are still working on it today!!! Not sure when it will be fixed. I hope that when it is resolved I will still be able to get the same fastpass+ times as my other party members are currently booking.

Hopefully the kinks will be worked out when your trip begins:)

Here is a web site with the Yacht Club room numbers on it.

:welcome:

The RFID mugs system hasn't been activated yet at the BC, according to reports. They are hoping to have it up and running by the end of the month.
