just booked parasailing on cc for dd and dgd. they want to do it and I was excited for them. just watched you tube videos and it looks really scary. I was surprised how little the boat looks, like they were really far away from it. do you feel safe with those straps? I am sure it is safe, just had to ask. they will be going up together, they will be really close to each other? (meaning mom can comfort daughter if nervous?) I think I might need to have alittle cocktail to relax me and I am just watching!!

We did the parasailing at CC with our sons last year. We all loved it. Your daughter will be right behind your granddaughter so yes they will be close enough to comfort if needed.

Here is a picture of my DH and son

I was mildly interested in doing it until all the video of the recent accident where the ropes broke and set two girls flying free where they crashed into several buildings before finally crashing. Both survived, but with massive injuries.

I know life has no guarantees, but everyone has to decide their own risk level. For me personally, this one is too high.

So yes, because I've seen what can happen,it's scary to me.

We did parasailing on our last cruise and are set to do it again on our October cruise. It is very relaxing and I highly recommend it.

Something to remember is that doing it on CC you are going with someone that was sub contracted by Disney. To me, this makes me feel 100% safer.

I went with my 2 DSs in 2010..... I had to go with them because of their ages....

I was nervous and was planning to bail out...but due to winds we need to go tandum and so up I went. It really was not to windy...but they are careful.

It was so great...easy not scary....it is so quiet up there ...very peaceful....

I would definitely do it again...go for it!:thumbsup2

I did it with DH on Bay Lake, it was not scary at all, its so peaceful up there and you feel like you are just floating along.

I've done it twice and I'm afraid of heights. Yes, it was scary until I realized the harness was going to hold me. Then I just enjoyed it. I would do it again in a heart beat at CC.

On our Cruise in 2011, my DH, myself and our 3 kids, 13, 11, & 9, went. I picked Castaway Cay, as the place to do it, because even though the company running it is not owned by Disney, I am sure there are some strict safety rules they have to follow!

We had such a great time!! My husband went with the youngest, me and my 11 year old daughter and my 13 yo son got matched up with another 13 yo on the trip and they agreed to go together!

Would definitely do it again!

This is on my dd's bucket list to do and she plans to do it next summer on CC. She will be 16, so I think she can go without me.

my daughter said it was amazing! The only thing that I can think of is the seen from the Jurassic Park movie! :lmao::lmao:

Booked it for our family on our last cruise. Dh was nervous about it, but I'd done it hundreds of times, and knew the kids would love it. EVERYONE loved it! Dh was so glad I booked it. It's expensive, but worth it!

I did it in Mexico once and I will say it was the most frightening thing I have ever done. I was way too hight, up way too long, and was crying the whole time.

My kids have done it other places and weren't nearly as high, and they all loved it. I would think at CC it won't be too scary and the crew will be terrific with easing your fears.

I love parasailing...I have done it 2x once at Key West and once at Mrtyle Beach. I agree with the previous posters: it is quiet, it is relaxing, I would select a reputable operator e.g. One that contracts with Disney would make me feel comfortable.

My husband and I parasailed on our honeymoon in Hawaii. It wasn't scary at all, it was rather fun. I'm with you though. After seeing that video, I don't think I'd take the risk anymore, especially with my kids.

I don't think we have to worry about buildings out there. I was surprised how far away the island/ship are. i am sure they wont let me ride on boat as an observer, so i will be watching from beach and they will look like specks so far away. i knew dgd8 wanted to do it but i had her watch video of a girl around her age and a parent doing it on cc to make sure. the girl said "i am flying". now dgd is excited to "fly." will all the good responses, i am feeling alittle less nervous, thanks.

It is the most relaxing 5 - 10 minutes. You have a difficult time imaging it being calm while speeding around in the boat, but once you are up in the air, it is like you are floating along. Take a water camera up for amazing pictures of the ship and the island.

We'll be at CC for my DD's 5th Birthday. Thought this might be a fun surprise for her but we'll have to wait another 3 years until she's 8. Oh well....I know there will be a ton of other fun things to do!

My family LOVES Roller Coasters!!! ::yes::

Our son did the para sailing at CC a year or two ago. When asked how it was his answer was "quiet". I think he was a little disappointed - he would have liked to have "more thrill". He did say that he liked it.

Yes, in the beginning it is scary and adrenaline rush, exhilarating, but after a few seconds it is most of all FUN, FUN, FUN Don't pass up the opportunity if you have never done this before. It is totally worth it
