(CLOSED) Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT and BAY LAKE TOWER INFORMATION THREAD

After I read through every single page of WDWKOOK's great thread for the BW, we switched our reservation to BLT. I am so pleased to see there is another Kooky thread for our new resort and I will be reading it thoroughly! :)

Please add us to the stay section for only two nights: January 30-February 1, pre-cruise. We are staying in a Water View Studio. Yippee!!!:cool1:

It depends on how long you have to wait for the ME bus to fill up. But we are usually pulling up to our resort about an hour after we land. I believe CL check-in starts at 7AM. If you arrive at CR before 7, you may have to go to the regular check-in. Maybe someone else can chime in who has experience checking into CL that early.

Yes, you can do online check-in for your CR stay only.

You will automatically be checked out and a receipt will be emailed to you. You have access to the lounge, and all resort facilities, up until 11:59PM on the day you check out.

Thank you for the response...I figured I might as well do the online chk in since I think we get in before 7am to the resort. We decided not to be in a rush so long as we can get cont breakfast in the lounge and head to MK for our day.

It makes sense for my family as we can walk up late and enjoy a perfect spot instead of fighting with other people well in advance. Plus I want to watch Wishes from the Rose Garden!!

Alright everyone, I will be at CR with my MB on Tuesday, so please send me any questions you may have or picture requests, or whatever! :teeth:

I will likely come on and give you live updates. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your trip live....

Since we checked out today and went to Poly CL our MagicBands have not worked. My updates will now be at the Poly thread.

Katie

I will have to find that thread

Does anyone know if they have NFL Network? Just found out the Patriots are playing the Jets on the Thursday night game week 2. One of the coolest nights I've had in the past was watching the same match up on a Monday night a few years back up in the Top of the World lounge. Would love to be able to do that again this trip :-)

NFL Network is part of the in room TV package

I couldn't agree more. My initial perception of FP+ is that there are a few people who will benefit the most from FP+.

-People who generally are not FP dependent now will not miss the loss of paper FP as much. I know when we go, we MAY use 1 FP a day and usually get more FP that we don't actually use then the ones we do use. We're rope droppers so we hit the headliners early. We also use single rider lines when available so there is rarely a NEED for FP. If something has a long standby wait time because we didn't get there early enough, we'll try it on another day or just skip it that trip.

-Rope droppers...the reason I say this is like I mentioned above. Arriving early means you don't really have any need for the big rides early on. Take Hollywood Studios for example....if I don't have to worry about TSM at all because of FP+), I can use one FP+ on an afternoon ride of TSM, one on a second ride of Rock N Roller Coaster and one on Fatasmic! When the park opens, we can head straight to the Toy Story meet & greet and then head directly over to Sunset Blvd. If you arrive early enough to knock out alot of the headliners, you can use your FP+ for a great reserved spot for fireworks and such and use the time you would have had to stand there and wait on other attractions.

It may not be part of the advertised package, but I had it in my BLT villa in May.

:lmao:

I have no clue why I typed NOT part of the package....my mind was thinking one thing and my fingers went rogue on me...

Let me correct, it IS part of the in room TV package. It's one of the higher channels though (like in the 50s or 60s), not located by the ESPN family of channels.

Sorry for the confusion.

There's a subset to the Rope Droppers group: it's those with Park Hoppers. If you do RD at one park in the morning you can use your FP+ for the evening rides at another park. This also benefits people who on go to a park on arrival night.

Here now and waiting for our room to be ready. Do not know if we have a fridge yet but I do have a medical request in for one. We declined the Magic Bands but boy do they push for you to use them. I will stop by again later to update.

Update: We received a text to see front desk for our room number. Our room was exactly over Chef Mickey:sad2: when we checked in we Repeatedly said we wanted a room on the opposite end of Chef Mickey. We were told it was. We were quite annoyed. We were reassigned to a room on the fifth floor. It was the only room available. Hopefully it will not be loud considering it is right above the stores and even with the monorail. If it is, we will be switching in the morning.

The room did not have a fridge but housekeeping did send one up. We did request one for our insulin. The gentleman who brought the fridge said they just received 200 new fridges today and they still needed to be installed in the rooms.

Will check in again later:). Off to Magic Kingdom. :cool1:

Hope you have a wonderful time! Thank you for reporting back to all of us.

My boyfriend and I are going to stay at BLT in February using my moms DVC points. She booked the room for us and they advised her its facing the lake. (Sorry for the ignorance) Is there any where to see pictures of the room or the view? On the WDW website I can't seem to figure out which one it is?

Is the hotel fairly nice? I picked it because it seemed to have the nicest bedding.

Also, will we be able to go to the Top of the world bar? Or is that for club level people only?
Any input anyone has is appreciated.

Sorry if this has been asked.

We start our drive to WDW in less than 12 hours. Our car is packed, except for food items and my boys are very excited. We will spend two nights at art of animation and then contemporary. I can't wait to test out our magic bands and fastpass +. Thanks for all the wonderful tips on this thread that helped me plan our trip!

I'm sorry about the room. I hope the room you were reassigned is ok as far as noise. Hope you have a good time at MK :goodvibes.

I'm not sure, but I think Top of the World lounge is for use by DVC members only. Hopefully someone will be able to verify that or correct me if I'm wrong. Below are links to pictures of BLT. Hope they help :).

What size villa did she book? Studio or one bedroom?

They currently have duvets on the beds, but they might be changed to triple sheeting.

You need a blue member card to get up to the Top of the World Lounge and your KTTW that shows you are a DVC member staying at a WDW resort.

I will be staying in a 2 BR villa at BLT in a couple of weeks. I know that there is a coffee maker in the room. How much coffee is provided? Do I need to bring filters? Thank you!

If you are staying on a DVC reservation, you will only get service every four days. So you will probably have one, maybe two, prefilled coffee packs for the coffee maker. Each pack will make 4-6 cups of coffee. If you want more coffee, bring your own. You will need the Mr Coffee style basket coffee filters since those are not supplied.

Just a FYI....

I was just able to order our magic bands on MDE. We arrive on Sept. 6 - 15. So I guess they are testing in the month of Sept. :cool1::cheer2:

I would like to officially :welcome: all the new CR/BLT posters from the last couple of weeks. I've been at WDW and got very behind with the multi-quoting. We had a wonderful stay at WL/CL, but missed CR/BLT every time we boated past or went to the CC. I plan on booking our July CR/BLT stay soon.

Thank you to all the wonderful posters who answered questions. If your question wasn't answered and/or your name and dates didn't get into the Log-orail on the first page, please re-post and I will add you and/or try to answer your question.

So as not to experience as much post-Disney vacation withdrawal, I booked WL for Christmas today:goodvibes. CR wasn't available at all with the SOG overflow rate, but at least we'll be right next door where there are plenty of fireplaces for this guy:santa: and we plan on booking CA Grill as soon as ADRs open up for it.
