I am disabled and am having a lot of trouble with my back. If I can't make it to dinner one night, can my wife and daughter bring me back a dinner from the restaurant that they eat at? The room service menu is very limited.
Thanks!

Yes my sister has done this for her husband before with no problem :) They will bring it to the table covered for them to bring to you.

Yes. One night at EG, my youngest son got sick and I had to take him back for he room. I left my older two sons there (at the insistence of our serving team and tablemeats.) We were halfway through our appetizers an had already ordered our main course. When they returned from dinner they had my dinner with them that wonderful ShelleyAnne had wrapped up for me.

You guys had an easier time of it than my aunt. She was at dinner on the Dream this February with her grandchildren (their parents were at Palo) when both of them nearly passed out at the table, and one was also belly sick suddenly. She had to nearly BEG them to pack it up for her (the food hadn't even made it to the table yet), and they REFUSED to bring it to her at all, even though she had to carry the 5 year old, nearly drag the 10 year old, and she's over 70 and uses a cane to walk.

She was NOT impressed.

There is also room service. I'm sure if you say to your servers before hand they will be very happy to help. Just whisper that a good Tip is on its way at the end of the Cruise.;)

I wonder if the Waiter thought it could've been Noro Virus, in which case packing a heavy meal would be the wrong thing to do? My experiences on Cruise Lines is that they're always great at accommodating dinner guests. Example: on one cruise when I was too full for dessert, the Waiter insisted I shouldn't miss and gave it to me in a takeout container.

Our servers volunteered to pack up a dinner and dessert for a person in our party that couldn't make dinner one night because her disabled daughter had fallen asleep after a busy day.

I got very seasick on the first night of our cruise. We made it to the RP and ordered our drinks but then I quickly realized that I was not going to be able to stay and told our servers. He asked what I would like and he would have my dinner and my DH's dinner sent up to our room. I was so grateful (even though I wasn't able to eat it later either) but Angel simply said that it was his job to take care of me. :)

I wonder if this experience was due to the fact that the food wasn't ready yet and there wasn't another person to bring it to your aunt if she left the MDR right away? It does sound like people are reporting others in the their party bringing food back if for someone who couldn't make it/had to leave the MDR quickly. But if there isn't anyone remaining at the table, I don't think the MDR servers will bring food to your stateroom later and room service will not deliver MDR meals to regular staterooms (I think this is a perk for concierge).

My DH and I both left the table before any of our dinner was served. Our meals were delivered to us about 45 minutes after us leaving the dining room. I don't know if it was room service that brought it or not but it was not our dining room server that brought it. I don't know if this is the norm and I'm not suggesting that anyone else should expect this type of service, but this was our experience.

On the last night of our last cruise, my father got sick and couldn't make it down to dinner. Our Assistant Server insisted I order something for him from the menu and they had it packed up and ready for me to bring to him by the time the rest of us were leaving the table. And they even waited to have me order it until after we had ordered our desserts so it would be nice and hot when he got it.

I hate that she had to experience that! Maybe it was just the difference in dining staff.
I had to leave early from Lumiere's when DD was having a meltdown. Our servers insisted that DH bring my dessert to me! Ended up being one of the best I had on the trip, so I'm glad I didn't have to miss it! :cool1:

We had no problem at all doing this. One night my DD wasn't feeling well. She had ordered and eaten her appetizer but just wanted to go back to the cabin at that point. Our servers brought out her meal with a cover on it for us to take to her in the cabin.

It's possible, but only one child was feeling ill (though both were exhausted beyond belief) and they would be literally causing a 70+ year old woman (who wasn't feeling ill) to go without dinner because it was late seating and she wouldn't be able to get to Cabanas before it closed (unless she left the sleeping kids, and that wasn't going to happen). It was the last night of the cruise, too.

It's possible it was a staffing issue, but everyone talks about (and had talked about it to her) how Disney cruise staff are top notch and will bend over backwards if you need help, etc etc, and she was left in a very touch position.

Since her daughter and son in law were unreachable (they were not answering their Wave phone) and since my aunt didn't think to contact us (we were in the same dining room at the same time, but dining separately for the sake of the kids/cousins actually EATING their meals) she was being sent off without food for anyone, without the ability to GET food.

I do, too. She was talked into the cruise based on the service, and just when she really needed the help the service was lacking. The staff didn't know we were all traveling together, either, so no one thought to even tell us she and the kids were leaving. Then she had to pack and it was all just rotten.

On the up side, she realized she LOVES being at sea. Like really really loves. We were trying to think of jobs she could go for on the ship that wouldn't be overly taxing at her age and physical ability level. Decided she should try for a ship's photographer position. :)

We had great service on the ship, and it's funny how some people just get lousy service while others are fine (my aunt is one who gets the bad meal, the bad service, the things spilled on her, etc), and so I'm not angry with the staff...I'm just SAD that she had to deal with that. And super-bummed that she didn't think to call us or stop by our table on her way out, because we would have been totally happy to help out.

That is absolutely terrible!

We did not experience the same. My ds was in a hurry to get to his teen club and was itching to leave after the appetizers - something about a video game competition - our server told us to let him go but have him order and take his food with us when we left, so when he got back to the cabin he'd have dinner. I'm sorry your aunt did not experience the same.

Thanks for the empathy. Typing it out here is helping me understand that they probably just didn't have the staff, and I'll admit that she (like me) can get a little stressy and maybe she wasn't making her needs clear or something. So maybe they just didn't get the big picture of the difficulties she was about to experience.

But it really seems like the common denominator of easily being able to take it to go is having someone who can TAKE it. And she really didn't feel that she had that person, and hoped to "hire" someone. :)

Thanks!
Our last night on the Fantasy my wife got extreme sunburn and couldn't make it to the MDR. I was concerned because of her food allergies.I called down and talked to the head server who had her meal delivered to our room. I then ate my meal in the MDR.
