Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Information & Questions

We are staying at the memo suites oct 31- nov 10. Friday nov 1 we have an ADR at Ohana's at 7:30 am. What's the best way to get there, bus to MK and mono to Poly or just take a taxi cause it so darn early? Any thoughts or other options would be appreciated:)

When we stayed at AOA in May we had an 8am ADR at Kona. We got on a MK bus at AOA at 6:45am (I don't know for sure if that was the first bus of the morning, but I think it probably was). Took the bus to MK, walked over to the monorail station, then rode the monorail around to the Poly. We arrived right at 7:30am.

So, it is possible to do, but if you don't want to cut it that close, you might want to take a cab.

Just in case anyone is looking for LM rooms Dec 9-14, I transferred our reservations over to WL under the GP discount. AoA family suites were excluded from any discount during that week. The discounted WL room was a couple of hundred less than the AoA family suite. So we exchanged a family suite and LM room for 2 rooms at WL. We're paying at bit more at WL, but WL is so gorgeous during the holidays:goodvibes

We have a reservation for LK suite. We would like to request building 10, close to animation hall. What's the best way to do this? I know some resorts take requests by fax. Is that an option? Or should I call and add it to my reservation? Or do I do it if I do online check in? Thanks!

I would put the building request in via phone (fax doesn't work as well anymore IMO).

When you do online check in, building numbers are not an option. Which floor you want or view are included as well as "near transportation" which is what I would check mark so you are close to the main hall.

The best way to make room requests is to call and have them added to your reservation. POR and POFQ are the only resorts that read and act on faxed requests. All other resorts toss them without reading them.

Thanks! We really aren't that picky. I saw the options(after I posted my ?) for the check boxes for online check in on another thread. I think we will go with top floor, close to transportation.

not sure if this is somewhere in this thread or on the transportation boards, but are the bus runs for AoA dedicated to AoA? or do they stop at other resorts on the way to/fro AoA?

we are staying at AoA for our first time Aug 18-23 and bringing a 12 yr old first WDW first timer....we are so psyched (and our DS12 will be pretty pumped when he finds out his bud is coming along)

AoA does not share buses.

I was disappointed to be completely shut out of the fall discounts. Our dates and AOA where blacked out of free dining. (A huge savings for us.) And our dates are the one week when just AOA does not have a room discount. Sigh. I fantasied about switching for half a day but I would need to switch flight and resort and lose ADRs. Not worth it. So I put it behind me and am concentrating on the fun, wonderful time we will have. Plus we really are looking forward to AOA!!!!!

We usually take a taxi for most resort-resort transportation. It is usually worth the $20 or so for the elimination of the hassle.

Any new feedback on the air conditioners from people who have had recent summer stays? Just curious to hear if you felt like the room stayed cool enough, especially at night. We'll be there in October, so I'm hopeful for cooler temps, but you never know!

Please don't mind me, I need to share my excitement with someone! ;)

I just added an extra night to our tip which is only 9 days away!

So now we will have 3 nights/4 days at AoA in a LM room!!! :cool1:

We can't wait to get back to this resort, we loved it so much in Dec. No parks planned for those days, so we will get to enjoy the resort to the fullest! ::yes::
(Then we switch over to BLT 1 bedroom for a week!)

When we went last time I didn't request anything and I feel like we got a great room. (7861 corner room, 4th floor building 7) We got to see the fireworks from our room too! So now I'm wondering if I should put in a request or just leave it up to chance? What should I do? :confused3

I don't know! But I *think they were from Epcot. It was a great view especially with the corner, large window! We didn't even have to leave the room to enjoy them! It was such a great surprise.

Not quite summer, but we stayed in a LK suite in May. It is true that the thermostat does not go below 68, but that was plenty cool for us. We usually left it set at 72, and we had six people in the room.

I have read that some people have had issues with the A/C not cooling well overnight or while they were at the parks because of motion sensors. However, we did not seem to experience that. Our room was always consistently cool and never muggy for us.

Hope that helps. I wouldn't worry about it too much. :)

That is soooo cool! I am traveling with two young adults and they will be in the parks but I am hanging at the resort and that would be so cool to have Disney magic when I am not going in the parks! :)

We stayed in a Lion King suite for a week at the end of June. There were 6 of us in the room. We could turn our a/c down to 65...which is where my DH kept it for our entire stay. The kids and I were freezing in the room at night...even my DD8 who wears footed all-in-one fleece blanket sleepers all year round (and was wearing them at Disney). I had to call mousekeeping to get extra blankets for everyone, but DH was happy as a clam. I think 68 would have been much more reasonable.

My oldest DS and his DGF stayed in a Little Mermaid room that same week and said they could only turn theirs down to 68 but that was cool enough.

I'm here now in a Cars suite. The thermostat goes down to 70 and I have turned it up to 72 both nights because it has been chilly. :)

Sorry i this is already posted somewhere but I'm having a heck of a time finding it, if it is!

In the LM area, which buildings are which? On the map, the buildings are numbered 7, 8 and 9. But I see people referring to the buildings a "the Ursula building" or the "Ariel building". Can you tell me which number building, is which character? TIA!
