I was set on booking a studio at the Gf for next year as they look great and we have never stayed there. DH agreed because the price is great renting points!

Then.....last night he said why dont we do the Polynesian instead because the room was nice and big!! augh. The price will be about 1000 more for the polynesian.

Will the room size be that noticeable??? will the gf studio seem smaller than the poly?

I had originally planned to book CR as our back up if we cannot get the studio but now he says he thinks it is too sterile and boring.

any advice?? this is our first week long, go all out disney trip so want it to be amazing.

If renos were not an issue, we would 100% book Poly, but have booked CR instead. :goodvibes

The size of the GF studio villa is 374 sq. ft. The smallest room at Poly is 409 but the ones in newer longhouses, like Tokelau are bigger (like 440??) so there is a size difference.

With you having a family of five, I would think it would be noticeable.

thanks. We stayed in tokelau and loved how big the room was!! We only did 2 nights and our plan was to go back there for the week trip. But construction issues have me worried :(

I was all ready to book CR GW last night and now dh doesnt like that idea. For October 2014 there are already dates where gw is unavailable so i am worried about not booking it.

do you know sq foot of a one bedroom?

Looks like the one bedrooms are 844 square feet!!!!! I can't imagine how that wouldn't be enough space. :faint: :goodvibes

FWIW, the room size at CR is 436 feet, so possibly bigger than some of the rooms at Poly.

Honestly, CR wasn't even on our radar. It just didn't appeal to us but the more I look into it, the more excited I get. I remember being at the CR when I was a kid and thinking about how cool it was to have the monorail to through. You can't ge any closer to MK, and walking back from Wishes is going to be amazing....I think CR is going to be awesome!

I agree about the CR looking too sterile and boring, but the more pics I see, the more excited I get for our December stay (and now that I'm actually booked, I'm even MORE excited :yay:). The CR has never been on our radar as the theme/decor has never done anything for me, but my DH suggested we try it since we've already stayed at the GF and Poly (and since we are staying at the Poly post cruise, I wanted something different pre-cruise ;)). The Poly rooms are pretty large and although (if I remember correctly), you got assigned one of the larger rooms on your last trip, that is not a guarantee if you stay there again. You can request that certain longhouse again, but keep in mind that it's not guaranteed. I don't know how much of a difference there is between the two sizes, but you wouldn't necessarily get one of those rooms again.

If the GF is a resort you want to try, I say try to rent points for a studio or see what (if any) discounts come out for your dates and maybe stay in a standard room if the points rental doesn't work out. The GF is a beautiful resort. We've stayed GV, SL, and RPC and although I wouldn't book SL again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay in a GV if RPC wasn't doable. With that said, I wouldn't rule out the CR just yet as it seems like you really want to stay there. I wouldn't try to convince your DH because it's his vacation too and he has to be happy, but I'd keep looking at pics with your DH and pricing out different room categories to see if his view changes. If not, you can always fall back on the GF or Poly. Good luck as I know how hard it is to decide on just one resort.

Thanks....for the same price of a 1 bedroom we could do the poly, which was always my plan until this construction issue started.
I am worried that I won't get the villa because it will be super popular next year and no one will want to give up their points! so I am trying to have a back up plan as paying rack rate for a villa is not an option.

Our decision was made for the poly and we were super excited :(

Good point about not getting Tokelau....we loved the location of that longhouse and how big the room was, if there wasn't construction we knew right away we would book there!!!

If AKV was on the monorail that would be our choice for sure! but we liked the convenience of the monorail and closeness to MK as we will spend two if not three days there plus the MNSSHP.

I would definitely stick with something on the monorail as it looks like MK will be your main focus. Is a standard room at the GF an option instead of a villa? The rooms are comparable in size to the Poly and CR (although for some reason our GF rooms seemed a little smaller to me than the Poly....not sure why, maybe it's the furniture and how it's arranged :confused3). But they are still a decent size.

I actually don't like the look of the standard rooms there, which is why I never considered it before. I am thinking we might not be able to get the villa for the whole week and if that is the case it will be a split stay between vgf and maybe CR or Poly (funny how one stay there and we fell in love!)

I read somewhere that the GF was next in line for room refurbs, although I can't remember where I read it or when the predicted time it was supposed to start. You're not alone regarding the Poly. We've stayed at other resorts since our Poly stay, but the Poly is still our favorite and we fell in love with it from the minute we checked in :goodvibes. I'm super excited to be going back in December ::yes::.

There is just something about it there that it so magical :) I am jealous you get to go before the refurbs start!!

I am surprised how excited I am to stay at the GF actually! LOL. I showed the girls and they loved the look of it! hoping I can get it! so trying to find a back up in case we cannot get it!

I had booked CR theme park view for a weekend trip the end of this month but decided against it because of the MK bus construction. Opted for GF instead.

ITA.....the Poly is just so wonderful that we fell in love with everything about it :goodvibes. We've had great stays at all of the resorts we've stayed at, but the Poly was just so magical and very relaxing :cloud9:. I liked the old rooms, but am excited to see the new ones, as well as try CL as everyone lately has been raving about Poly CL :wizard:.

The GF really is a beautiful resort and the villas look absolutely amazing!! I priced out a 1 bedroom villa for December and mentioned it to my DH, but he really wants to try the CR. Since we've already stayed at the GF, he wants to try something new.....so maybe next year we'll try a villa for a couple of nights ;). Plus, I was able to get 20% off of our CR room, whereas the GF villa would be at rack rate since they aren't included in the RO discount.

The MK bus construction is pretty far from the resort, definitely not something to cancel over.
