This is our first trip to Key West. Has anyone else been there before? What do you recommend doing with a family of 2 boys (ages 13 and 9) in Key West?

Welcome!!! I am so excited about going to Key West for the first time. We also have two kids, 9 and 11. I think we are going to take the Conch Train that allows you to get off and on at different stops. I want to have lunch at Margeritaville and see the sits. Other than that I don't have a lot of plans.

We are sans kids, but we plan on walking around and sight seeing. We have a friend who has been there that gave us the highlights to see.

I've been there on the Western. They have this cute trolley you can take around town. It is hop on-hop off. You can get it right off the pier. It stops all over, Hemmingway's house, the southernmost point, etc... You really do not have to pre-book anything (unless you want to do a water activity). We also stopped at Margaritaville on the way back to the ship.

That is EXACTLY what we did on the 7 night Western. It was perfect. We are going to do that again. My kids loved all the cats at Hemmingways house.

IDK if anyone has been on the bigger ships, but it is AWESOME being at Castaway Cay on the smaller ship. Plenty of beach and lounge chairs. Half the amount of people. I love the Classic ships!!!

We got off the Fantasy on 6-29 and couldn't see ourselves waiting until 2015 to cruise again!!
This itinereary will be perfect! I have never been to KW, CC is awesome and the "new" Magic was enough to seal the deal Looking forward to catching up on all the posts here!

Wow!! Three sons!! You are brave... Welcome to the board. We love CC as well. This is our third DCL cruise. I have two kids, one of each, 9 and 11. We are in nj, so they have school vacation then.

We have a long weekend, also, due to conferences and Veteran's Day holiday. We are flying into FLL on Tues and staying in FLL until Wed. We will grab a shuttle from our hotel to the port in Miami that Wed. Morning.
We've only sailed out of PC before, so this will be new for us.
105 days or so, yay!

We are flying into fll as well, but we are staying in Miami beach. We are coming in Monday as the kids have never seen Miami. I still have not booked our return flight. The prices stink!!! Gonna have to give in soon...

We are staying in South Beach the night before. We booked a room at Z South Beach. We have our flights, but I haven't figured out our transfers yet.

So sorry to say this to you lovely folks, but I just switched our cruise to December 4th. Yes, it's all about the decorations!!! Well, that's part of it anyway... I really want to be on the ship when it's decorated, and this seemed like a good time to do so. Also saved a few $$$. I have annoyed "chatting" with you, and I hope you all have a great time!!!

Living in SFL were super excited to not have to drive all the way to Port C. If you subscribe to Groupon sometimes they have awesome deals for activities in Key West.

We just booked this cruise today. Does anyone know which rental car company to use if I want to pick it up at FLL and drop it off near the port?

We fly SW. It was cheaper for us to fly into FLL and use a car service than flying into MIA.

What car service? Just trying to make arrangements for our family too.

We are flying into FLL, too. Planning on staying in a hotel the night before and then take SAS shuttle to Miami port.
