Calling all Princesses! (2014 Princess half marathon board)

The post-race lines were so terrible for the All-Stars that we actually walked across the parking lot to the Epcot buses. It was a little bit of a long walk on tired legs, but felt good to move instead of standing in the line for the bus.

I remember seeing the All Stars bus lines - skeeery! And one of the mods was bad, too - POFQ maybe? We decided our less popular choice of AKL was a good call: no line at all lol!

It's very easy. At the air port there will be signs I believe it's on the B side. Down by the rental cars. You go there to check in and they tell you what line to get in. Wait for the bus and they will take you to your resort :). Now to book it, I have always booked it as I booked my resort but I know there are other ways to book it. Here is the website :). Hope this helped!

Thank you !

Thank you everyone for your airline responses and for the reference back to the pages of the previous discussion. I think I'll try to hold out a little longer to book. If it said "sold out" I might be more concerned. Also, just fwiw, we've flown to and from disney in feb and march a lot and haven't ever had the fares all disappear within 3 days of the schedule being released. So I find it extremely hard to believe they are all gone. I did read that they might be putting more restrictions on the sw WGA fares, so perhaps they will be releasing the WGA fares after the others. Suddenly I'm wondering if the active.com people are running southwests website! LOL!!!! :)

I just checked again and it does say Sold Out now (DTW to MCO) all day on March 1st. EXCEPT for the Air Tran flights which are back down to the $151 I paid when they were first released. Hopefully there are some more available for you too!

Unless you have something else planned, you may as well head over once you get checked in. This year for both Tink and Princess I flew in on Friday AM and was able to be at the expos by 1pm. I found in doing that I was able to walk right up to the counters to get my race number and then walk over to get the gear check bag and tech shirt...both with NO wait. In previous years, I've flown in late Friday and gone to the expo at open time on saturday. If you aim to get there either day as soon as it opens, expect a LOOOOOOONG line to start forming early just to get in. Also, there's nothing that says you can't head for the vendors and shop before you get all your race stuff...doesn't really matter but most tend to run for their race number first, and if you're there early to buy a hot item that you think will sell out, then go for it and get your race stuff after you've shopped.

I agree get to the expo the sooner the better. By 2pm Friday the lines will start building up. But the lines do move slow but sure. :)

I was thinking about that! I'd prefer to have time to go back to Poly after the expo, and then monorail to Epcot for our Garden Grill ADR, but this is a good backup plan. The only problem is that I might be homesick for BC and Teena won't be in the lobby on a Thursday!

Also posted this over on the YC/BC thread, but your 1/2 Marathon report from 2011 is very helpful! Did you throw away your arm sleeves, or carry them with you?

Thank you!
I tied my arm sleeves to my running belt. I'm too cheap to throw them away!

Amanda

A tip for "throwing away arm sleeves" is to buy a pair of fuzzy warm knee length socks. I got mine at target on clearance for $5 in black and pink stripes to match my tutu at the last princess. Cut just the tip of toes of the socks off for your fingers to slide thru as well as a little hole for your thumb. They will pull up past your elbows! These saved me with 2 hours of waiting before the race, and a mile in I just peeled them off and threw them on the side of the road. I will be doing the same this year as well. Hope this helps!

Love it - I'm totally doing this! :thumbsup2

Need to make note of that

I LOVE this idea! Totally doing this too!

I love this idea, too! I won't have a belt, so no way to store sleeves, and I agree with Amanda - can't throw away good arm sleeves. But I could throw away $5 socks! Thanks so much - love this thread. :)

Is there a party after the princess 1/2 I think I did read this somewhere!

"Join the Happily Ever After Party and Celebrate a Race Well Run!
You've worked hard and did your best during this year's Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Now, it's time to join family and friends for an evening of fun, relaxation, and good times at the Happily Ever After Party at Downtown Disney®. Admission to the Happily Ever After Party at Downtown Disney® is open to race participants, their guests and the public."

Didn't say what time yet.

Had a total "holy crap" moment earlier :rolleyes2

Was sooo close to booking the hotel (All Star Music) - had the dates in my cart and all, and was aimlessly toodling around the PHM webpage and all of a sudden ...

realised the PHM is on SUNDAY not Saturday as I had been thinking all alone! If I hadn't noticed, I'd have been booking my flights to go in Thurs, register Fri, run Sat, relax/explore Sun, shop Mon & home Tues! Now I'll have to shift everything a day later and fly in Friday instead! :surfweb:

Close call! I'm guessing from the vibes on this thread that registering in Expo on Saturday is going to be a long time affair, but I think I'm happier to wait in queue on Saturday rather than fly in a day early / take another day off work just to get there earlier.

Gonna leave the booking til tomorrow night though in case I make any more mistakes, ha ha!

When we did the EXPO in 2010, we went on Saturday afternoon and I think the crowds had died down a bit. Of course, this past PHM had twice as many entrants ...:(

Charmed. I mostly have walked 80% of my events. Run 30sec / Walk 90sec. I have managed to avoid the Dreaded SWEEPERS!!! Working up now to run 1 Walk 1. Lofty goal. Hope to complete it. I really think you can do it. :). We all wish for that extra pixie dust on race morning. :)

Thank you so much!! I am really trying to complete the training program I am doing as intended but boy is it giving me grief. I keep getting slower. :( I should have time to try the Galloway method even after this training so I may do that. When you walk do you speed walk or normal walk? When you run do you sprint or just jog? I have never done the run/walk approach so I would love the help! Good luck with your training!! :)
