Danielle & Adam-9/21/13-Tale as Old as Time-Our at Home Disney Wedding(Updated 9/18)

It's been awhile since I updated! November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) so I tend to disappear off the face of the earth. What is NaNoWriMo you ask? It's a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. I finished on the 21st! I'm still going though. My personal goal is to get to 60K.

Winner-180x180.jpg

It's my third win! So now that I'm technically finished, I can start having a little bit of a life again. lol

This past Friday, we asked the rest of our wedding party. I'm so glad we did! FI had a guys' night and I had a girls' night with the yet to be asked BM (we'll call her M) and my MOH. On the way over, my MOH texted me (I didn't look at it until I was walking into her house cause I'm a good kid). She and M were watching Say Yes to the Dress Bridesmaid and M said she didn't think she would ever be a BM! It was all I could do to not interrupt the conversation and give her her card right away. lol She was so excited and said yes and I'm happy that I could prove her wrong! :goodvibes

FI and I also ordered our save the dates! I really like how they turned out. We won't be sending them out until January, but I got them for "free" through VistaPrint. You have to pay for each picture, so it came to just under $20 for 50 with shipping. Not too bad.

299 days! Oh my, where is all the time going? I need to get started on some more DIY things!

Wow! I'm just reading through some of your posts and plans so far and I already feel excited for you...I'm a new subscriber! I'll look forward to following along, you've done some really cool and creative things :)

Wow! It's been awhile since I've been around these parts. Sorry about that! Wedding planning kind of got put on the back burner as work took over my life. I was working three part time jobs and just have no motivation to do anything productive after getting home. I was offered a new job (still only part time) as a librarian!! Finally. So I'm taking a little bit of a break from the 50 hours per week schedule for a much needed break, which has meant getting back to work on wedding stuff.

The past two weekends have been dedicated to registering. Man, was that nightmare. (I hate shopping) We already live together so finding stuff that we could really use and things that need to be upgraded was a task. We also created a HoneyFund of wish list things to do on our Disneymoon.

And speaking of the Disneymoon, thanks to my sister, who is now an official CM and not just DCP, we got an awesome discount. So thanks, sis! :thumbsup2

We ordered FI's ring.

We purchased it from Titanium Kay. They were awesome! Super fast shipping. The first time around the ring was a little big, so we got a half size smaller and they exchanged it no problem. Definitely recommend.

Also found our wedding cake topper for $20 cheaper than I'd seen it anywhere else. :woohoo: I get so excited about saving money. lol I just ordered it today. Hopefully everything goes smoothly with the transaction.

And in the last ~5 months since my last update that's all I've accomplished.

(But I did discover the awesomeness of GIFs and am excited to see that they can be used here!! It's the little things...)

It's wedding Sundays from now until the big day, except for next Sunday... lol FI's best man is coming up to visit. But after that we're going to try to tackle one wedding related thing. There are so few Sundays left and only 125 days left. Where did my huge countdown go?? Ahhh!

Hi Danielle, fellow September tripper joining in on this!

If I'm not mistaken are your cake toppers and toasting glasses from Fellowship Foundry? Ours were too! Instead of the dragon motif we went with the twined two-tone roses for topper, glasses, and cake service. I found them on my first trip to a ren faire and I've been hooked since. DH had been to a couple before me but went most every year to our "home" faire until recently due to other travelling.

I saw the bridal ears set here and we also have a set of those in our curio cabinet from our disneymoon *mmphrmph* years ago :beach:

Hope all is going well for you two!

Greetings! Thanks for joining! :goodvibes

Our toasting glasses are actually from Ballena Bay Pewter and I bought the cake topper at Magicalomaha. I was a little nervous buying from Magicalomaha, but seeing as they had a physical store, I decided to give them a shot. They were awesome and shipping was super quick. I really love those twined rose goblets!

This will probably be the first time in seven years that we don't go to our home faire. I'm really sad at the thought, but the trade off is a kickbutt Disney trip so I guess I'll survive! lol

Engagement photos in Niagara Falls....are you from around there?! Did I miss that part??

Welcome aboard! :goodvibes

I'm from just outside Buffalo actually, but FI and I go to NF for a mini-getaway every January to celebrate our dating anniversary. The first year we went, we found the park and tend to go quite a bit during the rest of the year... when we aren't saving for a wedding. lol

Congrats on your librarian job! I am still looking...

I love the little things that you got done! That ring for your fiance is beautiful, and the cake topper is really unique. I'm super excited to see how your wedding comes together!

Thanks! I hope you find something soon. It's no fun out there in the job hunt world, especially if you can't/don't want to relocate.

Awesome! :goodvibes

Finally made some time to work on some more DIY projects. I'm in a production of Cinderella (make way for the Evil Stepmother!!) and I'm just now realizing how little free time I'll be having between now and the wedding.

Today we tackled, DIY bridal ears. I really wanted a headband instead of the full hat. I asked my sister to pick me up a pair of defect ears with her CM powers and then found a simple white headband to hot glue the ears and tiara I stole from the reject ears. And voila! Bridal headband for about $3. :yay:

Also worked on our card box today. Which was really just attaching this nifty "Happily Ever Sticker" I found on ebay.

IMG_3282_zps8a3749ff.jpg

I also pulled up all of the vintage books I've been hoarding from the library's trash (I garbage picked before it actually went out to the trash) to see how many I've collected. So many books!

IMG_2988_zps36e5e444.jpg

We're looking at having ten tables so each table will be getting four books plus a small one for the table number.

I also decided instead of using vases for the flowers at the head table to just lay them on top of the books like so:

IMG_3000_zpsc2ef32cd.jpg

There will also be a few stacks of books down on the guys side of the table.

My mom and I started working on my aisle runner, but that's going to be a multi-day project. We only managed to attach 14ft worth of rose petals. 36 more feet to go!

Overall, today was a super productive day in wedding land! And last night I did the on-line check in for our cruise and managed to snag an early arrival time. :woohoo: Things are slowly coming together!

Edit: Oh yeah! And we also bought our WP gifts, but I can't share them for fear that one of my siblings might stumbling upon them! They're pretty awesome though. I'll be sure to post pictures and information to where we got them at some point!

I didn't realize how far I'd fallen behind on your PJ, sorry about that! I love the honeymoon plans, they sounds amazing! Your card box is so beautiful, I really love the shape of it and the words. The decor looks fabulous, I love that you got all those perfect looking books from the "trash", that's really great. Your save the dates look great and I love the cake topper too! :goodvibes

Oh and the headband! What an awesome DIY job! I'm with you the bride ears and veil look is much better as a headband!

Ooo and I just noticed your ticker is 6 days since your wedding. I hope it was extra magical!! pixiedust:

We had our bridal shower today! It ended up being a gorgeous day despite the rain that had been predicted and thankfully the cold I came down with on Friday is mostly gone. I always get sick at the worst times. :headache:

Spent the afternoon taping these awesome cupcake wrappers on:

Our friends and family were just awesome. Thanks to them we'll be doing a bunch of things on our honeymoon that we otherwise wouldn't have been able too. Parasailing, snorkeling, Segway tour, and Photopass+ so we don't have to constantly be bugging other tourists to get couple photos of us. :woohoo:

Oh and my awesome sister made me these:

I love them. I'll definitely be rocking them at our reception and on our HM.

Thanks! I hope you find something soon. It's no fun out there in the job hunt world, especially if you can't/don't want to relocate.

Yeah, my husband has a really good job and we just bought a house, so no relocating for me. It's very limiting!

I love all of your projects! You've done a fantastic job on the headband. And I really like the way the flowers laying on top of the books look.

Your shower looks really nice! Those cupcake wrappers are too cool. And your sister is amazingly talented!!! I am completely in love with those shoes! I want a pair lol!

I was in the same exact boat! So frustrating!

If you have an instagram account you can check out her other shoes at glassslipperco. I want them all!! lol

Your shower looks great! I love the little cupcake wrappers, what a clever idea!!

Sounds like a lot of people selected things from your honeymoon registry, that's great!

The shoes your sister made for you are adorable...and how special that she made them!!!

I love the bride ears headband you made too...very cute and a great idea! I don't like either the bride or the groom ears they have right now. We're not getting married until next fall so I'm secretly hoping they come out with something better by then...

Your wedding is coming up so soon!!! Do you feel ready?

Brooke

Finally managed to finish our aisle runner. Oh man, did this take up a lot of time. My goal was to get it done before Cinderella opened and I just made it. It turned out a little bit different that originally planned. Splitting up the "To Infinity" and the "and Beyond" between the top at the bottom just didn't look right. So a little fiddling and adding our wedding date and I'm super pleased with how it turned out!

Now one more weekend of Cinderella shows and then I'll be focusing on the rest of the flowers and our MNSSHP costumes! Thinking about Halloween costumes now is weird. lol
