Wednesday 24 July

Last day today :sad2:

We agreed last night to make the most of EMH today. I dread that last morning feeling, but peeked out the curtains to see sun and was happy. I also noticed that there were some security guys at the bag check area, it was about 7am, so I'm guessing they must be there most of the time?

I got everyone up with some gentle persuasion :rolleyes1 and we were off to the park. It was warm but with a cool breeze which was very welcome.

Into the park just after 8am and we noticed one of the Main St motors ready to go, so we hopped on.

It was lovely going up an empty Main St towards the beautiful castle

After all this excitement, I forgot to take a photo of the car

Straight into Fantasyland, and Lewis couldn't resist trying that sword again

Onto Peter Pan and then the Dumbos. We always take the same route during EMH:rotfl2:

I love the view from the Dumbos

Next up we had a look at the Mad Hatter's tea party

And then the teacups

We hopped over to the Carousel, as we'd somehow missed it the last time, and Lewis wanted to try for a carriage after listening to some details from our tour guide yesterday. It wasn't to be though, so we chose some horses and enjoyed the ride

Next over to Discoveryland for Buzz. Queue was already building and showing a 10 minute wait. Busier day today...As we entered the queue DH was given a card and asked to hand this to the CM as he got on the ride. It helps them keep wait times accurate.

Our guide yesterday had given us a wee tip for Buzz, but none of us managed it, despite our best efforts :rotfl2:

Orbitron looked very busy and Space Mountain wasn't open yet. So we went back to the hotel for some breakfast. I think it must have been about 9:30 now.

When we came into the hotel we noticed Minnie doing a meet, but decided to eat first. After another fill of lovely food and the nicest apple juice ever, we went back to our room to pack up. We dropped our bags at the bag check, and got our ticket to pick them up later. Then Lewis went off to meet Mickey, who had replaced Minnie at the meet spot:

Panoramagique was flying high, and we said we'd maybe try to do this later in the day

Now time for Salon Mickey. The only visit this trip, but I wanted to make sure we did it as my card will run out in September 2014 and we might not make it back by then. However, I think I will try and buy some more shares as we have saved an absolute fortune with our shopping/restaurant bills :thumbsup2

It was very busy inside. We each had a cookie or doughnut and some water/juice. We had to share one chair.

When we were ready to leave, we each still had some water and took this into the park ok. I thought we'd be asked to leave it behind. It's so nice getting to the park through a wee secret room :)

Once into town square we noticed the brass band about to start playing, so grabbed a bench and relaxed. Just as they were about to start someone asked for a photo with them, and after that there was almost a queue of people waiting for photos :lmao: The music (when it started) was great, mostly from Mary Poppins

Lovely flowers all over the park

It was going to be a busy day....

Just can't stop taking photos of the castle!

Lewis wanted to do pirates, so we went through Adventureland and popped in to see Aladdin first

Skull rock and the ship looking stunning

Pirates was showing 5 min wait, so off we went

Lewis always puts his head down and this time was determined to put his hands up going down the last drop. He did it, but was gutted that he could hardly see himself in the photo :rotfl:

After this I fancied doing Meet Mickey Mouse, so we headed to Fantasyland. The wait time was 40m so we didn't bother.....need to go back to do that then don't we :rolleyes1

Fantasyland station is just beside the Mickey Meet, so we wandered round and a train appeared as we did so :thumbsup2

It was quite slow moving, but was nice to relax and get out the heat. We always take it easy on our last day. The train moved onto Discoveryland and as we went we noticed Donald, Gepetto and Pinochio, who had come from Discoveryland probably on their way home ;) They gave us a big wave but I was too slow with the camera.

I liked the inside of the carriage

Next stop was Main St. It was heaving here with a very large queue. Our tour guide yesterday had said if you want to do the train, don't wait at Main St. He was right!

Now into Frontierland

We passed by the Chapparal Theatre and what was once Woody's Roundup - a bit sad to see these sitting doing nothing. The whole area in Frontierland doesn't really have a purpose anymore

We disembarked at Fantasyland and had a quick toilet stop. Meet Mickey was still showing 40 mins. I suggested going for BTM FP, but the others were hungry. Abbey, who is never hungry at lunchtime, said she really had a notion for chicken nuggets :rotfl2: So, we decided on Videopolis, which we always feel is airy to relax in. I shared some nuggets with the kids and DH had the Chicken burger.

Instead of the classic cartoons, they were showing Pixar Shorts, which my kids love

Now over to Frontierland to try for BTM FP - time was later than we could manage so had to leave it for today. As we were in the area, we had to do PM of course. Another walk on

It was about 2ish now, so we decided to say goodbye to the Disneyland Park and head over to the studios. Very sad :sad1: But before we could leave, the train was just beside us so we stopped and had a bit of a wave :wave2:

Before going to the Studios, we had a wee wander through the Disneyland Hotel and up to the shop. I love the windows in here:

Inside the shop I spied some Dooney and Bourke bags in the sale, but just couldn't justify the cost. Then I saw a new one, not in the sale which I absolutely loved - it was black/charcoal with some really pretty pictures on it. I'm annoyed that I never took a photo of it - I sure couldn't have afforded to buy it :rotfl:

Then we went into the lobby and relaxed for 10 minutes

Whilst in there, Abbey reminded me that she'd see a Winnie the Pooh watch that she really liked, and had only seen it in a shop in Main St - so we went back into the park :) I thought I'd better get my photo taken outside Salon Mickey whilst I had the chance

Shopping done, and I couldn't resist more photos of the castle:

Abbey was laughing at me so I took one of her too

I like yer hat mister!

And now it really was time to leave the park

Some lovely hanging baskets on the way

It was about 3pm now

Abbey was desperate to do RnR so she and DH went off to do this. It showed 30m wait. Lewis and I did carpets with 10 min wait.

Just as we were finishing, Abbey phoned to say that they were done already :thumbsup2 So we were just in time to go and see Cinemagique again. Wonderful show, just love it :goodvibes

We came out of here just as the parade was starting. Didn't get any pics though as we were right at the back and could only just see the tops of the cars as they passed. After this Abbey noticed that TOT only had a 10m wait, so she and DH headed off to do this. Lewis and I bought some juice, ran through the water sprayers and then sat on a bench in the shade to wait for them. Lewis was really tired and cuddled into me, almost falling asleep. Sometimes you just need a hug, don't you

I couldn't see the others anywhere and thought they must be done by now. Next minute they phoned me and were sitting on a bench just along from us. I don't know how I missed them :lmao:

The stunt show was about to start and as Lewis loves this, we went there for the 16:45 showing. It was a good show, Lewis loves it so much, but many of the stunts were missing.

The guy didn't fall from the building, the other guy didn't swing on the rope by the water and it was hard to keep track of how they'd got the movie at the end. Lightning McQueen didn't show up and they didn't do the final stunt at the end :confused3 I suppose if you'd never seen it before then it would still be good, but I was a bit disappointed with this...

Now it was time to leave this park too :sad2:

A photo on the way

We were looking forward to eating in Annette's and had deliberately chosen this for our last day as we knew we had to eat early. It's always harder to get a table later in the day. It was 5:45 and we were seated quickly.

DH, Abbey and I all had the Rockabilly Burger.

Lewis had the kids cheeseburger that came with a drink and ice cream and smarties desert.

DH noticed that his burger was a bit pink in the middle. The rest of ours were fine, so he asked for it to be changed, and it was replaced very quickly. Meal was good, and service good too. They didn't play the music and dance this time though.

Then we strolled through the Village. We had some time before we were due to be picked up from the hotel and tried for Panoramagique. There was a sign saying it was closed due to thunderstorms - but I didn't see any thunder :confused3 We had a seat and relaxed for a while by the lake

Back to the hotel now and I got a new keyring and Hotel New York pin from the shop. We went to pick up our bags and noticed that John from Ezy Shuttle was already waiting for us, 20 mins early!

A last photo with the taxi

We all dozed in the car on the way to the airport. An hour and 20 minutes later we were at Beauvais and ready to go home :(

Check in should have been quick, but there were a group of boys with large bike bags and the check in guy didn't know what he was doing. So we ended up changing queues and were soon through security and waiting to board.

We arrived back home at about 11:30 (12:30 in Disney time) and were home just after 1am (2am Disney time :faint:) Happy to see DS Mark who waited up for us for a big hug

Our swag:

Beautiful Alice mug and small tray

Cool Mickey Mugs - got 4 of these for our mug tree

Pin from the guided tour - we all got one

Hotel New York pin

My new keyring

My new bag, which is very padded inside :thumbsup2

And the whole reason for this trip - my lovely new Minnie Apron :lovestruc

Final thoughts:

We had a fantastic holiday. I wish I'd felt better as I honestly felt like a zombie for the first couple of days. I still love the Hotel New York, the smell and being able to relax in the pool for an hour or so. We all enjoy breakfast there and make the most of being able to nip back to the hotel if we feel like it.

The parks were looking lovely, flowers everywhere and we saw painters about the place early in the mornings. We all love the Studios too and always find lots to do. It's not just about the rides - the shows, and in particular Cinemagique is a real treat :)

I love that my kids know their way around and having been many times previously, we can now enjoy a really relaxed trip, without worrying about how to navigate the parks or trying to fit everything in at once. We know we'll be back soon so anything we miss out on, isn't too much of a deal.

So, looking forward to our next one - I'll be 40 next year :scared1: and Mark has said he'll definitely come with us to celebrate that :thumbsup2

I'll do some restaurant reviews later and update the hotel thread too. Thanks to those who've read along, and for all the fantastic information that you all contribute to on here. :goodvibes

Julie, you look blooming amazing for 39! In one photo I actually mistook you for Abbey! It's great that Mark will go with you next year! :thumbsup2

I've really enjoyed your trip report (as always!) I'm so impressed with how quickly you write them, I've not finished my one from March! I would really love to do the park tour, but I'm not sure DD would enjoy it that much as she's only 6.

Looks like you all had a lovely trip! Thanks for sharing! :yay:

I love that Alice cup :cloud9:!

A lovely trip report, I love reading yours Julie, so relaxing even though you go in summer season.

Pleased you got your apron :yay: Looks like you had a lovely relaxing time. I like the view from the top of Dumbo too :thumbsup2 I always like to go straight up and stay there! Feeling very excited for our trip now :cheer2:

Fab trip report - sounds like you all had a fab time.

LOVE that Alice mug - where did you find it and how much did it cost?

A fab report, makes me want to be there even though I had come to terms of it not happening this year. Love the photos, shame you weren't well for the first part of it. Thanks for sharing:goodvibes

It was Elaine, and even I was a bit surprised by this. I suppose we didn't do a great deal in terms of rides on BTM etc, but we still had a great time :goodvibes

Fab trip report - sounds like you all had a fab time.

LOVE that Alice mug - where did you find it and how much did it cost?

The mug was in Lilys Boutique in Main St. It was a bit pricey for a mug, 22.99E, but Abbey never asks for anything really, so I was happy to get it for her. It now has pride of place in my DDC - Disney Display Cabinet :lmao: in our dining room.

I know what it feels like not to go, and we very nearly didn't this year, for a number of reasons. I felt really lucky to be there to see Dreams again. Hope you get there next year. :goodvibes

Aww thank you :) Reading it back we did do a lot despite the heat. Lewis enjoyed the tour, but I think any younger and it might not have held his attention.

Lucky you - if I could splash the cash then I'd be booking to go again as I'm off work next week too......will have to make do with sunny Scotland :rotfl2: Hope you have a great time. :goodvibes

Really enjoyed reading your trip report. I'm glad its not just me that can't stop taking photo's of the castle!!:rotfl:

We contemplated buying more shares as our card expires early next year; but decided to opt for a Dream Annual pass instead as you get 20% discount on the shops. We're definitely going to make at least one stop at Salon Mickey on our trip tho as we will miss that.

Where is the bag check for the park now situated if you don't come thru the Village?? Thanks:thumbsup2
