I selected close to transportation and I ended up in the 90s. You are far from classic hall but there are other rooms that would be much closer

Thank you for that info, I won't select close to transportation then. I'll choose 60's maybe and ground floor, or 60's and 50's. Too many choices.

We will be staying at POP for the first time Feb 4-11/2014. very excited!!!

PAID my Trip off today!!!!!!:cool1::yay: 50 More days until I'm back at POP wooooo hoooooooooooooo!!!!! :hippie::jumping1:party::dancer:

Yes, you should be able to select a decade section in online check-in. It doesn't let you pick specific building numbers; for that you need to call.

That said, for comparison I chose a section for All-Star Movies during online check-in and it wasn't honored when I arrived -- they had assigned me to a different section. They were able to redo it for me, though, so that remains an option too even with online check-in.

Thanks! Last year I requested 70's, lakeside, top floor (I know my TA put it in there and I also did on-line check in). They tried to put me somewhere in the 50's (not sure if it was lakeside, but I know it wasn't top floor). We requested to move into the 70's and they agreed, but we had to wait to get into room (which was fine with us). We ended up in building 6 (? Big Wheel Building), not top floor and obviously not lakeside, but we were just happy to be in the section we like!

I requested the 80's building and they gave me standard pool view. Is there any other requests I should make when I do online check in?

tsi: how exciting for you!!!!
as soon as you check in, you will get your tickets and can use all the ammenities of the resort, even if your room isn't ready. by the way, there is a good chance it will be ready.

you can use the pool. you can use the bus. in fact, anyone visiting the "disney world resort" can use disney's transportation. you don't need to be staying at a WDW resort.

you can either leave your luggage in the car, or you can leave it with the baggage dept.

how many days are you staying? are there any restaurants you want to eat at? charachter meals? I woould make reservations as soon as possible.

Good to know we can go ahead and use the bus system and hit the parks! Probably check in our luggage as I'm sure we'll have some snacks we don't necessarily need to cook in the car! haha

We've made some ADR's but of course the 'best' ones are long gone but we'll continue checking twice daily just in case. Being his first time we could eat at McDonalds every night and he'd be totally fine and wouldn't miss any of the cool restaurants! haha

So these Magic Bands. Looks like we are having some sent to us. Will those have our park ticket on it, room key and be linked to our CC for purchases? Sounds cool but I do worry about my 6 year old losing his wrist band.

Is close to bridge an option at online check in? I'm wondering if close to transportation would be a good option to get close to the classic hall. I want first or second floor but I don't know if it's worth choosing that one as one of my two requests.

sorry, I don't know. we have never done online check in. I always make my reservations on the phone, and give my 3 requests then. we check in early, and when they show us where the room is (OR the "general area", if the room isn't ready yet) if we don't like it we say "got anythig else?"

I DO think "close to transportation" would be covered by paying for a preferred room. the preferred rooms are those closest to the food court, etc.

although the 90' sbldg. is close to the buses, if you walk across the parking lot.

some advice I have heard. if ONE request is REALLY important, don't do any others. you have 3 requests. if, say 1st floor is important to you, and you list it as your 1st request. then you want 50's section. then, maybe lake view.

you could get 4th floor, building 3 lake view. they have honored 2 of your 3 requests. but your most important one wasn't honored. try to make it as simple as possible.

even with online check on, when you get there, ask where the room is. you can always ask for a dif. room if you want. doens't hurt to ask.

for some people taking a room that is available right then and there is important. (they have little kids who need a nap, whatever)

for us, 2 adults, we would rather wait for a room more to our liking, than take one that is ready now, but we don't like ,, for example parking lot view)

I don't know which of the TS restaurants fall in to your "best" category, but I'll just mention that you can always try to do a walk-up at the TS restaurants. We were at Disney in late June and my son and his gf were able to do walk ups at several TS restaurants and also were able to get ADRs the day of. Granted they were a party of 2 so it's a little easier for them, but I just wanted to let you know that things could open up at the last minute.

smeone else will have to answer about the magic bands. sorry.(and when they explaing them to you, explain them to me! tee hee!:rotfl2:)

anyway, a GREAT restaurant for a little boy is TREX at downtown disney!!! if they don't have any reservations open through the disney reservation system, call the resataurant directly. they hold back some reservations.. (and you can still pay with your DDPcredits.)

dinosaur and wooly mammoth audio animtronics??? a little boy's dream! the animals come to life about every 12 minutes with the meteor showers.

Prime time at DHS is pretty easy to get into, even with a walk in.

48 hrs before arrival it is all on my card/account how will this work if I have to chane our reservation at check in or even the day before?? We have the ddp and all adrs are for 3 will they be able to adjust our ADR's at check in too?? Does anybody know how much this might cost me? It is due to a medical issue with dad that she might not be able to come- first trip without her it is bittersweet. We arrive for a room only the day before I was wounding if I should just deal with it then, I am stalling cause I want her to come so bad but there is the chance she won't and of course I didn't gt trip insurance this trip either.

Just posted this in the old thread as well.

Just got back from our trip and stay at Pop. Still liked the resort but I have to say they have done the food court a disservice. It used to have a great menu but now it is very limited and is the same at lunch and dinner.

The refrigerator was still in the room but there was a notice that it wasn't to be used and they did apply a $15 per night credit because of the problem.

Can someone tell me how the Summit Cheerleading impacts Pop Century? We are looking to go April 27th or the following weekend of May 3rd or 4th I believe. I know that first weekend of the 27th is Cheer Worlds and then the following is Summit Cheer. We have never stayed value and am a bit concerned about these dates and having mobs of cheerleaders at Pop!
I was there this May and there were cheer teams at Pop but had no issues at all with any if them.

So, one easy question, we'll be driving down and plan on getting there our first day around 11 or so (hopefully), before the room is ready I'm sure. I'd like to go ahead and get to a park as soon as possible but not sure if I am allowed to take the Disney buses without being checked into the hotel yet or not?

Thanks in advance! 23 more days!
Room doesn't have to be ready to check in. You can check in at 6am. They will give you room keys but not tell you the room number til your room is ready-they can text you with the room number.

Unfortunately, No, you can't do that. I just buy the kid's Bfast. They really don't care that it's for an adult. I'm not a HUGE Bfast person for the most part, so that is a perfect amount for me! I get the two Mickey waffles, I ask for 2 pieces of bacon instead of 1 piece of bacon & 1 of sausage & I ask for the strawberries they use as a topping on the bigger pop waffles as my fruit in lieu of the applesauce cup. I've never had a problem. Now granted the strawberry cup they give me is only about 2oz in size but I am totally fine with that! They don't have to Substitute at all! I am grateful/appreciative they do! Hope this answers your question! :)
I was able to get 4 Mickey waffles as an adult portion instead of bigger Pop waffle in May.

So what exactly is it that people don't like about the new menu at Pop? From reading it, it sounds great to me and while there a different choices, it doesn't seem like there is any less variety than there was in February.

I agree it is so much better to have some variety from lunch to dinner.

With regards to the refrigerator, did you have to ask for the $15 per night credit or was that automatic? I'm staying at Music and we were totally counting on a refrigerator. We'll try to make do with a cooler etc. but with a $15 a night credit I wouldn't mind the extra effort.

AWESOME!! Sounds like a 'new' substitution!! YAY!!
Just on occasion those substitutions aren't really "guaranteed". They are more of a courtesy thing they do to keep guests 'happy'. KWIM? So I just don't ever count on a substitution 100% of the time unless it's related to a dietary need/food allergy. The rest I consider to be Pixie Dust! ;)

If it were me!!!!
I wouldn't address it until you check in! Speaking from a recent experience, it is too easy for there to become a problem with your ressie and you are so close to check in at this point it's not going to make any difference anyway. My guess is...from experience but it could be different!... is that when you check in and explain the situation to them...since it is a room only (this is a HUGE factor here IMO) they will just remove her name from the ressie and thereby removing the add'l per night adult charge that the 3rd adult in the room generates. Now they may not be able to remove it for your 1st night (because that is the deposit amount) but they should be able to take it off for all the others and they MAY be able to even remove it for the first night too...just not sure about that one.
As far as the ADR's...Don't adjust them!!! Leave them be! If you try to adjust them, they will probably make you cancel and rebook. Just show up, and explain that one member of the party was unable to make it. They won't give you a hard time or charge any fees to your credit card. I promise!! BTDT!! :)

I asked about the credit when we checked in and was told there would be a credit applied to our account. I checked our balance about mid week and didn't see it so I asked another CM. He told me the CM that checked us in hadn't applied it to the account so he did it at that time.

My daughter is not happy about no Mom's Night Out fried chicken dinners. That was her favorite meal. I will miss the Chicken Penne Alfredo. We don't eat many meals in the food court, but it's still a bummer for when we would. We'll try out some of the updated choices and see if we can find some new favorites, and I'm sure we'll stroll across the bridge for some AoA goodies, as well.

Good to know you got a small credit for the fridge. :thumbsup2

I second this. We have never had a problem showing up with fewer people when someone has not been able to make it.

We used to enjoy eating in the food court...
Now, not so much...
The choices are too out there and different for our general liking.
Yeah, there are a couple of things we 'can' get that are ok...but not as good as our 'old favorites' :(
Oh well... as they say, it is what it is.

Only thing I will say is I had a bacon cheeseburger at both POP & AoA and POP wins hands down!! POP's was pretty good actually! AoA's was VERY dry (needed lots to drink w/ it!!!) And it was also a couple dollars more expensive! LOL
