I'm down to 32 day and we got our Mickey mail yesterday so we are super excited.

Hello all!! DH and I decided to make excellent use of our APs we got during our May trip and go for a trip in September, woohoo!! :cool1:pixiedust: We stayed at CS in May and while the room was very nice, the resort was MASSIVE and it felt like we had to walk for ages to get anywhere, so we're back to good ol' Pop! I paid for standard view but was wondering if upgrading to preferred pool view would put me by the big pool and thus really close to the main building? Is there another section to request that will put us close to it without having to upgrade? And if I understand right from reading the threads about the fridges, I can request one ahead of time and I may get one? Thanks much!

we asked for building 3. we paid for standard view. that bldg. only has 2 choices, pool view or lakeview. so you will get lake view if you get that building. if you request "close to bridge" you would be on the end nearest the 60's.. it is not preferred cost. but we were minuts form the bowling pin pool (which is really big) and a very short walk to the hippy dippy pool and the food court. (we always ask for 1st or 2nd floor) we figure one flight of stairs is doable, so if you are on the end, you don't have to walk all the way back to the middle for the elevators.

Yeah! New thread. I am so looking forward to being at POP in 2 months. :cloud9:

Sooooo, new to this thread and new to POP! We literally decided last week to do a last minute mid August trip to Disney World. This will be our first trip since 2006 and first with our DS6. He doesn't know yet but me and the DW are both very excited as we went for a few years in a row before he came along. We've stayed at OKW, BWV and WL so this will be our first time at a value resort and we're very excited! Looking forward to a totally different experience and feel like POP will give our son a great first experience at Disney.

Now, with that said.....I normally plan trips MONTHS in advance, not days! I'm freaking out a bit as I have little time to catch up on the last 7 years of Disney changes and what to keep in mind! Fast Pass+, Magic Bands, etc. are all new and I've got no clue what they are, how to use them, if I will get to use them (Magic Bands we will since it asked us when we booked) but what else am I missing? haha Are there must do things for a 6 year old that I never considered before since we've never been with a kid?! All these things I'd normally peruse the boards for months or a year in advance of I'm trying to figure out in 23 short days!

:deepbreath: haha So, one easy question, we'll be driving down and plan on getting there our first day around 11 or so (hopefully), before the room is ready I'm sure. I'd like to go ahead and get to a park as soon as possible but not sure if I am allowed to take the Disney buses without being checked into the hotel yet or not?

I'm sure I'll have more questions and will try to post in the right forum but this one looked pretty active and since it's where we are staying for the first time I figured why not!

Thanks in advance! 23 more days!

tsi: how exciting for you!!!!
as soon as you check in, you will get your tickets and can use all the ammenities of the resort, even if your room isn't ready. by the way, there is a good chance it will be ready.

you can use the pool. you can use the bus. in fact, anyone visiting the "disney world resort" can use disney's transportation. you don't need to be staying at a WDW resort.

you can either leave your luggage in the car, or you can leave it with the baggage dept.

how many days are you staying? are there any restaurants you want to eat at? charachter meals? I woould make reservations as soon as possible.

I've seen the Mickey waffles on the kids menu still, but can you get the adult sized portions Pop Waffle entree and substitute Mickey Waffles?

Unfortunately, No, you can't do that. I just buy the kid's Bfast. They really don't care that it's for an adult. I'm not a HUGE Bfast person for the most part, so that is a perfect amount for me! I get the two Mickey waffles, I ask for 2 pieces of bacon instead of 1 piece of bacon & 1 of sausage & I ask for the strawberries they use as a topping on the bigger pop waffles as my fruit in lieu of the applesauce cup. I've never had a problem. Now granted the strawberry cup they give me is only about 2oz in size but I am totally fine with that! They don't have to Substitute at all! I am grateful/appreciative they do! Hope this answers your question! :)

Is close to bridge an option at online check in? I'm wondering if close to transportation would be a good option to get close to the classic hall. I want first or second floor but I don't know if it's worth choosing that one as one of my two requests.

Thanks! That helps a lot ::yes::

I don't know about that...I have heard reports of people who have selected close to transportation getting room assignments in the 80's/90's because there is a shortcut to the bus stops from there. Maybe select close to food court? Is that an option?

I selected close to transportation and I ended up in the 90s. You are far from classic hall but there are other rooms that would be much closer

I don't know if it is an online check in option, however, I did call yesterday and had that added as a request on my reservation. I have done this twice before and both times we were put in the 60's building, ground floor, 2nd room from the bridge end of the building. Makes it a quick walk to both AOA and to POP food court.
Actually, when I called yesterday CM said if I had the exact room # that I had stayed in before, that I could request that exact room! I had the number and she put that on my room request. I was thrilled and hope that we get at least close to that same room.
We check in this coming Monday so we will see how it goes. :cool1:

Does on-line check in allow you to pick which decade you want to request or does that have to go through CRO? (I can't remember from last time. I just know I got NOTHING I had requested :rotfl:). We really like the 70's section but I don't care about which building (we've stayed in them both). We are booked standard.

Thanks!

New thread!! Yippee.
DD couldn't stand it cause we were not staying at POP this trip, sooo what do we do?? Of course, we add 2 nights to our stay so we can get our POP fix in before we head over to POR and CSR!
We won't be going to any parks for those 2 days so we will be hanging out at POP just enjoying the resort. Maybe doing some resort hopping to look around and spending a little time at DTD. I am sure we will find plenty to keep us busy next Monday afternoon and Tuesday. Then Wed. morning we will have to say a sad farewell to POP and check in at POR royal room.

We just love the feel of POP! So much fun!

Did someone call my name. ;)

FOUR days until my favorite resort!!

Just booked a mini-birthday trip in September for DH! I will be going along too! :rotfl:

This will be our first adult only trip in a long time....DD is married and DS will be in his first month of college! So the only place to go for this trip was....well WDW of course! We will be staying at the POP - haven't stayed there in a long time since becoming DVC members - but we are looking forward to staying at our "former" home! Will be there in less than 60 days...can't wait!!!!

Yes, you should be able to select a decade section in online check-in. It doesn't let you pick specific building numbers; for that you need to call.

That said, for comparison I chose a section for All-Star Movies during online check-in and it wasn't honored when I arrived -- they had assigned me to a different section. They were able to redo it for me, though, so that remains an option too even with online check-in.
