Chef Mickey's Solo?

Anyone done it? Experiences? Do the characters still stop if you are solo, and how did you manage to get pictures?

Also my cousin said she had her table taken during busy times at buffets when she was getting food, has his happened to any of you? I figured I'd just leave a cardigan on the back on the chair or something!

Yes, they will still visit with you. They'll be just as excited to see you as a group. Each character has a CM with them (a character handler I think they're called) so you could have them take a picture. If you're gone while going to the buffet, (it's happened to us before or the character just skipped our table) just inform your waiter and they can ensure the character makes the way back to you.

Going solo is definitely not an issue.

The characters will stop, but sometimes as an adult solo you have to make it a point that you want them to. I've been passed by multiple times at different meals, but after saying something, have had the characters come back. As far as pictures, sometimes there is a character handler who can help, sometimes I've had the server help, and sometimes I've had to ask the people at the next table over to help.

As far as having your table taken, I've never experienced that, but I make it a point to leave something on the table (for example, my hat) that makes it clear to the staff that someone is still there.

If one of the characters misses you, you can ask your server at the end of the meal and usually they will get them back around to you. That said, I would try to watch for when they are coming (there's usually some fair warning as the follow a set direction) and make sure you are at your table, otherwise the wait for them to come back can be long.

Although I haven't gone to Chef Mickey's solo, I have gone to other buffet character meals solo. Although there are several ways to get photos as a solo, I hate to ask people for favors. But I find that if I just pick up my camera and tell the character "I'd love to get my picture taken with you. Do you know who might take our picture?" there's never a problem. Often the character takes my camera and motions for a server or character handler he knows to take our picture, but what's lots of fun is that sometimes, the character has run over to an adjacent table and motioned for another guest to "Get over here and take our picture!" That always leads to lots of laughs and fun, and no one dares say "No" to one of the characters. I've met some real nice people that way too.

Oh, and as far as cleaning the table while I'm up getting seconds, that happened once at a CS resturaunt, so now I leave my Kindle, glasses, or something on the table.

i've never done Chef Mickey's solo but i did do a solo character breakfast at the Disneyland Hotel years ago and it was definitely not an issue....
