Hello. I haven't been on the Dis Boards since our last WDW trip a couple of years ago. I have a lot to catch up on.

I am confused on BOG. Is it a character meal? Is it a quick service or table service?

Are there any others that are new?

So far I have
Chef mickeys
1900 park fare
Ohanas dinner
Hollywood & Vine
Be our guest dinner

Possibly CRT. I'm not sure on that one. I'd like to do a wishes dessert party.

DS will be 6, DD will be 9.

I think the restaurant descriptions from wdwinfo are quite accurate. However, briefly:

BOG is CS at lunch time and TS for dinner. It is not a character meal. The Beast walks through the dining room during the evening meal, and you can have your photo taken with him when your dinner is complete. Beer and wine is available at dinner, not lunch. Lineups for lunch are generally 30 min long and they stop serving lunch at 2:30. Dinner ADRs go very fast, but cancellations do occur. Walkups are sometimes possible on some days but never guaranteed.

There are characters at:
  • Chef Mickey's (B and D)
  • 1900 Park Fare (B and D)
  • 'Ohana (B only, no characters at dinner)
  • Hollywood and Vine (B and L only)
  • Cape May Cafe (B only)
  • Crystal Palace (B, L, and D)
  • Garden Grill (D only)
  • Akershus (B, L, and D)
  • Tusker House (B and L)

Is BOG a must do? I was able to get reservations, but I'm not seeing anything spectacular.

It depends on what you are looking for...I would say that if you've never been and you have the chance, I would eat there at least once. I personally liked lunch food better than dinner food. The restaurant itself if pretty much the same at both meals, with a few exceptions.

At lunch, all three dining rooms are open (West Wing, Ballroom, and Rose Gallery). At dinner, only West Wing and Ballroom are open. You are welcome (encouraged) to look around at lunch and with all the hubbub of folks getting drinks and utensil, it doesn't really stand out if you tour the rooms. I'm sure you can look around at dinner too, but it'll stand out more and I felt like I might get in the way more.

At dinner, the Beast is available for photos after you eat. He's in the room where you place your order at lunch. It's like a typical character meet and greet. If you want your photo with the Beast, this is a good place.

At dinner you can beer and wine (must be consumed inside the restaurant). The desserts are the same at both meals (which is disappointing).

I think it is permant. Our waitress last week told us that they just opened all the rooms about a 2 weeks ago because of the demand.

That's interesting. But do you have a better chance of getting the room you want if you go for lunch since you can seat yourself?

I believe so. You can request a room on your reservation but there is no guarantee that you will get it.

I have a Be Our Guest reservation for 9:15pm on a night where the park closes at 10:00pm. Do you think this meal will be rushed seen as its the end of service? Also do you know whether the beast will still be there for photos at this time?

if you go to BOG for lunch and use a CS...is it a sit down like meal or do you order somewhere and eat where you can get a seat?

During lunch, you place your order, receive a pager and seat yourself. Then your food is delivered to you. Also, there tends to be a wait during lunch to place your order.

If it is permanent, I wonder why they would have just opened up the reservations for the other two rooms for July. I fear they may have just done this for the demand of July, otherwise other months would have opened up. There is no reason to wait...

We ate at BOG last week for dinner and were seated in the rose garden room. It was gorgeous. We loved it.
