Woo HOO!!
Just booked Cabins for September for 1 week!! Our first time ever there besides doing Hoop De Doo 8 years ago!! It is the best option for our family of five having been priced out by the huge increases for Poly/Contemporary..the last time we stayed we had 35% off room AND free dining!! Where did the days go??

So questions, I would search through the past posts but my computer is down to 10% battery, puppy (sleeping on couch to potty train this thing) is on my chest and I am NOT getting up to plug this computer in or puppy will want to go out! HA!

Am I right to assume that IF they offer Free Dining that the Cabins are not excluded from such deals??

My son is 6'3 so happy your hubby was good with beds!

Are all cabins the same decor or are some newer than others? Which one to request?? We like to get to parks QUICK :) Spend all day there but may change our mind once we hang out here! :)

Thanks!!

We were at the cabins on feb and used a free dining PIN so they should be included with the other moderates (whatever the free dining option is - ours was the regular plan)

Subscribing!! It's been a while since anyone posted here, but I just finished ALL 35 pages! Just like a great book, I couldn't put my phone down!

Thank you! I think we are going to just go with 1 gc to keep expenses down. With MIL in the ECV, the rest of us can just leave earlier to catch the internal system and meet up at the settlement or boat. Not sure if all the running around in the fort will be good on the ECV as far as battery charge goes, so she might just ride the buses with us anyway.

I'm really worried about the crowd levels during the time we are going. Can anyone provide personal experience as to what we should expect?? For comparables, our last family trip was the end of July. How do the crowds compare? We followed tourguide Mike's plans and were able to have a very enjoyable time, taking breaks every afternoon at the cabin to avoid heat!

Just got a trip planned for the first time at FW Cabins. Going Dec 22-27. Need tips on the bus system there. I know you have the internal one to get to the other buses (or ferry for MK). Our internal ones faster, or is it ever 20 minutes also? Don't know how much time to add to leave the cabins. we usually hit any EMHM available to get the day started so trying to plan.

Any other tips or suggestions about the resort?

The internal buses run often but you should expect 20 minutes, depending on where you are staying and going to. Like a cabin on loop 2800 is the last stop before Outpost so less than 10 mins. But if it's the first one going to the Settlement so at least double that. Buses start running around 6:30 for AM EMH.

Hi!
Does anyone know if Kenny is still in business?

I think this is the right site.

Have you heard something?

Exactly how big is Ft. Wilderness? We are planning to get a golf cart, but will we be able to walk back and forth when we need to? Also, where do you park your golf cart, when you're going to the parks?

There is golf cart parking at the settlement and boat dock when going to the parks. Depending on your family and which loop you're in, you will be able to walk to some places though it will be one or the other most usually. For example, I wouldn't want to walk the entire trek from settlement to the boat dock with my crew!

Thanks. Since you have been there maybe I can ask you or anyone that reads this, if I wanted to be close to a bus stop and maybe closes to the pool/laundry facilities, what would you suggest a make a request for? I know they aren't guaranteed but I would like to try.

As far as I know, Kenny/Tee Time is still in business. We went in Nov 2012. We thought about switching to FW to save money, but Tee Time was already sold out of carts for the week we were going, so we decided to stick with what we booked.

Hi there! :wave2:

So glad to see some activity on this thread:thumbsup2 We sooooo love FW. In fact, we decided to add 3 or 4 days to our 2014 trip. And guess where we're staying????!!! Fort Wilderness!!! Such a great place.

Some of you were asking about golf carts - here is a link to Tee Time Golf Carts

I guess the golf cart rental is very subjective. While some say it's a must-have, others say not so much. For our family, it was something we needed because of small children. The convenience was worth the cost in itself. Not to mention the fun factor for the kids ;) And there's parking everywhere on the resort property for the carts....no need to worry about that. FW is so big that it would have been difficult walking everywhere with our younger children. One of the reasons we used the Disney carts instead of the other company was simply because of convenience....not having to worry about it being delivered, not having to worry about having issues with the cart then having to get another, etc. Probably silly worrying about stuff that won't occur :upsidedow

Happy Planning to all!! :goodvibes

Hi! We're arriving at FW cabins in 31 days! We have unused 1 day tickets that we want to convert to DVC APs. Can this be done at Fort Wilderness or do we have to go to the guest services at the parks? I've been getting mixed answers on this so I thought I would check here. We'd love to be able to avoid the ticket lines at MK the next morning. Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I will have 4 year old and 14 month old. Thinking it will be a good idea!

Where can I find a "price menu" for how much the recreation activities cost (ie:pony rides, carriage rides, etc.)

Also, for some reason the link to the map on the first page won't load the map. Ideas on where I can get a printable version?

With 2 small kids any recommendation on where to request?

Thank you!

Don't know much about DVC stuff, but I'm pretty sure you have to go to guest services at the park to convert/buy AP passes.

:thumbsup2 I'm definitely thinking you made the right decision  Much easier with that golf cart!

This is a link to a great website that has tons of useful information.

Allears.net

You should be able to open the map and see prices. As far as choosing a cabin, guess its subjective. We tried to get one that was not close to the entrance because it's so far away from everything else....I think those are 2700 and 2800 loops. I would just look at the map and decide what looks best for your family.

Happy Planning!
