2013 Free Dining Watch

It's not that serious.

People's pins direct the booking CMs to the free dining pkg code. There are tons of new CMs coming in constantly. It's very easy for them to apply it on accident thinking its a broad offer and not understanding. Once it's done Disney won't take it away. Most know better, but it happens.

When they look you up or your reservation it will show them if you have a pin code so it's also entirely possible they don't ask you for the pin. They already see it.

It's nothing to count on, but it certainly happens and it won't be done on purpose as the CM will be reprimanded.

This makes the most sense out of everything I have read regarding the 'Giving' of pins.

Hey guys, first time poster cause I have something to add.

I spoke with a guest relations rep 2 days ago and I was told you don't always need a secret pin and that all the CM should give you the best rate available including pins.

I will try to call then. I have been crossing my fingers that I get a pin, but not yet!

Also if you have never booked with disney directly you should check to make sure they have your info updated. I got no offers for 2 years because there was a hiccup with my travel agent and disney. So while i signed up for offers I never even got any mail or email from them(including planning dvds). I have free dining now though, guest relations really took care of me.

They didn't mean give pins freely. They meant the best rate with any discounts applicable. If you don't have a pin, it's not applicable :thumbsup2 Of course if there is a room discount they should be applying it. Pins are sent out via the marketing department not the Walt Disney Travel Company. Booking CMs don't have a say in who gets a pin or how. They don't know when waves are going out. They don't know when new pins will be put into the system.

Pins state directly on them (in the emails or mailers) non transferable. If anyone can use them pins wouldn't be needed or could be transferred.

Hope that makes sense!

I have a quick question. How do they know that you are the person that got the pin. Do they check I.Ds? Just curious to if someone could use my pin without a problem? Just something that came mind the other day after getting our pin!

JetBlue is having a good sale so I went ahead and bought air tickets for our trip for Oct 22 to 29. Now just waiting for free DDP to hopefully come out. Fingers crossed.

Tell me: what are my chances of getting free dining? Please say VERY LIKELY!! ;)

You do have to show your ID at checkin and my guess is they do look to see it matches the name on the reservation.

The pins are associated to the guest. If your friend called and gave the pin number it would pull you up for booking. The CM would verify who is allowed to use the pin (household members) on the offer and your friend wouldn't be one of them.

(Before we get the obligatory "I used my friend's pin without a problem" posters... YES... it happens. It's not the policy. Nothing to count on)

So someone could still use our name tho? And act like that was their name and use it? Interesting. You would think they would have a stricter way, but then again they have enough to deal with!

Well, I guess. They'd have to have your pin number, verify your street address/phone and email, as well as have your ID when they go to check in. Seems tough to steal your pin code and book with it.

So with the current free dining offer for travel by 9/25 not expiring until 7/31, does that mean IF FD is offered for October and beyond it will not be announced until August?

Just spoke with reservations regarding if I have any pin codes or new promos.... He said new promo comes out 7/10!!!! Now, wonder if they will have FD first wk of Dec.???

Certainly possible. August release dates have happened before.

I seriously doubt there will be a discount offered that day. The 2014 rates come out that day, and discounts are not typically released on Wednesdays. Can you imagine the call volume if they released a discount the same day as package rates? The system would crash in record time! :rotfl2:

My bet is they were told their will be overtime due to the 2014 rates, but weren't told why and a cm took it as being a promotion.

Maybe the CM considers 2014 rates a promo, LOL.

My coworker and boss both got FD pin codes and they aren't planning a DW trip. So I called and asked if I had one on my account and go figure I don't. I've signed up for everything I can think of trying to get a PIN code, grrrrr. So that was a short call :(

Keeping my fingers crossed for some kind of promo or discount for when we go in Oct/Nov !! Does anyone know if you have a TA if they call and check if you have a PIN??
