Someone just posted about Fridge issues at resorts? Saying they will be temporarily turned off and removed (will take 4 months to replace). Has this happened at BC yet???

I need to cancel my Garden Grocer order if it has.....no need for water bottles if I can't keep them cold.

This is what I worry about most of all, think of all the people with GG orders who just assume they have a fridge??? What a nightmare!!!!!!!!

Talked to DH and he wants to keep the Garden Grocer order, so I guess we will just have room temp water to drink.....which in the heat will still be very refreshing!!!

Maybe i should go and look for a small collapsible cooler? Just what I need, more crap to pack!!!!

I'm going to pack ours, but the darn thing leaks water all over the place. I will have to keep it in the bathtub I guess. :worried:

Just wondered if the Marketplace sells the disposable kind? that would be much easier!!

I'm reporting from Newport Beach, CA. Jeanne brought her laptop and figured out how to log on here. So..... although I can't put in pictures, I'll try to keep up with questions, etc.

First of all, we are having a ball. House we are renting ... thanks to a fellow DISER here who referred us to it ... is absolutely perfect. Clean, has everything you can think of in it, is soooo close to beach and bay and good restaurants. We love everything about it. Only negative is the ocean beach. Beach is wonderful but we are not crazy about the drop off in the ocean. Our only other CA beach experience was Huntington Beach and that had a wonderful beach. Here the actual beach is long and beautiful but then it drops off steeply and after a few feet of wet sand, goes right into the ocean which also drops off steeply. Wherein Huntington Beach you can walk and walk before you are up to your waist. So I think next year when Lily is more interested in playing in the waves, we'll have to look for a house in Huntington Beach. Anybody has any referrals, please let me know. The location here in the Newport Beach house is unbelievable. Car won't be moved for the whole week. You can walk to everything!!! And the ferry over to the island is so much fun.

OK, now on the Y&B stuff. I see there were questions about the magic bands and a spotting at the Y&B. Yes, they were being tested there last week and perhaps is still going on. When I worked on Sunday we were still testing. However, it's not for regular guests. It's only for CM guests. So anybody you see at the Y&B with the magic bands are CMs that are checking in and participating in testing. We have this going on all over WDW. Want to try and get all the kinks worked out before we let this loose on guests ... you know, to avoid guests having the issues.

As far as rehab. Yes, it was originally scheduled for the fall (Oct.) and it could still happen I suppose. However, they are still not agreed (and I have no idea who "they" actually are) on the exact room decor so until that happens and all the materials can be ordered, it looks as if the rehab might be pushed back a few months.

Now on to the offerings at various CLs at all the deluxe resorts on WDW property. The offerings change yearly ... sometimes twice a year. So what you see in pictures or what you remember from a year or two ago at any resort will be different a year later. It constantly changes at all resorts. All the resorts have downsized the evening offerings from what they served years ago. They found guests were trying to make actual meals out of the appetizers. The club level lounges were never meant to be meals (except for breakfast). I sure miss the ribs they use to serve at both the YC and BC. However, because people would eat dinner there instead of just appetizers, they had to discontinue such huge amounts of offerings. It is only meant as evening appetizers. We use to have guests that would fill up trays of ribs and other items and take them back to their rooms, only to appear 30 minutes later to get another tray of food. I think the amount of ribs they went through in the lounges were as much as they went through in Cape May at the buffet. So, I just wanted everybody to understand that if you stayed at the Grand of the Poly or at the Y&B club levels four years ago or even two years ago, you will notice that the offerings are different now. So you can't judge from past experiences of the offerings or pictures on websites. The menus/offerings change.

I'll try to get on every morning to catch up with questions. Hope everybody is having a wonderful time at the Y&B!!!!

Weird...
So 2014 packages have come out.
For comparison purposes, I priced out 6 nights at BC (no tickets)...for the 3rd week of August this year...
Then priced out 6 nights at BC (again, no tickets) for the 3rd week of August in 2014......Same days (Sunday-Saturday)...and it came out $29 CHEAPER next year.

Really?

I received Mickey mail this week telling me that my rate that I had booked for room only in 2014 had been adjusted DOWN!!:confused3pixiedust: In all my years of booking ahead for the next year the rates have always been adjusted UP when the rates for that year came out. It wasn't a great deal of money but still, I was surprised!!

Teena: So glad you are all enjoying the vacation!!! thanks so much for checking in with us, as always your input means so much!!!!

I do hope Bob is getting along OK?

I think he overdid it yesterday. This morning we are going to take a ferry ride over to Balboa Island and walk around. Then head back and hit the beach around noon. I think Bob is going to stay on the porch at the house and read. It's only been a little over two weeks since the surgery and although he thinks he's 17 years old and totally healed, he's not.

Well Folks.......2 Great pieces of info today:

1. Single Digit Dance :cool1::cool1::cool1:

2. My baby daughter Turns 16 Today!!!!! Heading to get the Drivers License:drive: this afternoon. Not sure if I'm happy :), sad :sad1: or scared :scared1:

Yeah! And yeah?!? Lol happy birthday to your baby!

That must be a man thing!!! I remember when my dad had that surgery, he thought he could just resume as before like nothing happened!!!

Glad you convinced him to stay put today!!!!

We were at the YC during the 2008 BC refurb. We did have the opportunity to view a newly refurbed BC room during our trip. The areas are definitely cornered off / closed during refurb. Would be little disruption to guests.

Thanks for the thread link and walk down memory lane. Viewed some of my great room view photos first few pages of 2008 thread!

Good to know. Thanks!!

I have arrived at MCO Sitting on the ME waiting to depart. The bus is pretty much empty. Awesome the driver just got on and said let's get out of here before they fill us up! My kind of driver! Next stop BC/YC!

Love it! Have a great trip!

Well that would be nice?!?! Doesn't sound right though. :-)

Wow! Gone for a few days and new thread AND up to page 11!!:faint: I have a lot of catching up to do!!:coffee:

I just read on this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3138895 that refrigerators will be removed and replaced at the resorts. It will take 4 months to fully replace them.

The thread says that it won't effect AoA or ASMu suites. Someone also wrote that they called POR and they will be fully replaced by July 31.

Has anyone heard about BC replacement or know the BC phone number to call and find out?

I've just read about the fridge issue as well:worried:. If we do end up with no fridge, do they have ice machines at the Beach Club?

Hello all! I am new to this thread as I have just booked a last minute, adults only trip for me and my DH!!

I have always thought about staying here but with the kids and my mom, it is easier to stay at CR. DH isn't really a Disney fan...GASP! I know! But I thought with just the two of us doing more adult things, this resort is the perfect choice! This thread and the pic thread really helped clinch the deal!

We will be checking in August 15th!!! SO excited!

Welcome!!! That sounds so exciting! Like you my DH is not that big of a fan and that is one of the reasons I think BC will be more of a vacation for him. Walking to Epcot, boardwalk and being so close to HS I think is going to be so much fun!
