Thank you! I didn't know most of that! Are the fast pass machines still the same or are those RFID enabled now too?

Also, related to fast passes -- is it two or three hours before you can get another one? I've forgotten. Thanks!

Two hours. If the FP window opens sooner than the two hours, then you get get a FP when it opens.

Pull FP for Space Mtn at 9 am. Ride window is from 10 am to 11 am. Then I believe you can get another FP at 10 am. Does it still work that way, folks???

I've been updating DH & DS11 about all my reading on the DISboards. We are in full "Disney mode"- took out luggage today to start packing those odds & ends. I told them about the SAB lounge chair hoarders. DS who has the memory of an elephant said the "family of the day doesn't have to worry about that". That got me thinking... How are they picked? Anyone know?

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Now, there are resort families of the day (at both BC and YC) and there are also SAB families of the day. Not sure how either are chosen, or if it is even every day, but I think the SAB family of the day would be one of the first families to get to the pool when it opens.

I know the SAB family of the day does get loungers in a special area. Not sure what the perks of the resort family of the day are but I seem to recall that someone from the resort will drive them where they want to go.

When we were the SAB family of the day this past January, we happened to be the first people standing in line waiting to get in. They put a family of the day banner on the back of our chairs but nothing else done that was special....just so called reserved seating.

They should have brought all of the adults a Sunken Treasure

We are staying at beach club standard rooms as a family of 6 in 2 rooms 8/21-8/27. Room 1 me,DH,ds(8),ds(5). Room 2 my aunt and my sister (for only part of the trip). I want to do online check in. Travel agent has already added adjoining rooms to the reservation. Online checkin is allowing me to put 2 choices for requests. We would like full balconies. What should be the other request if we would like to see something of a view or maybe fireworks? We will be utilizing SAB daily (afternoon) hours. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We will also be arriving at the resort around 11 am.

DH and I commandeered chairs at SAB on July 4. Not one of my prouder moments, but we had looked for a chair (for our family of 3) for 35 minutes and finally just threw our stuff in the bushes. We swam in the area around our stuff for 45 minutes and when nobody came back to their chairs with nothing but a resort pool towel on them, well... we moved in.

Good for you!!!

You definitely need to make sure adjoining rooms is the first and most important request. If you booked standard view rooms, your view will be a parking lot or roof. If you would like a view of something green (courtyard, woods, garden) or water, you need to change your reservation to a garden view or water view room.

Please remember that requests, including requests for adjoining rooms, are not guaranteed. Your chance of a full balcony is about a fifty/fifty shot, especially if adjoining rooms is your first request.

On your on-line check-in, make sure adjoining rooms is your first choice. Your second choice should be full balcony. Just because your travel agent requested adjoining rooms doesn't mean you are getting them. You need to make them your priority choice and even then, you may not get them.

When they start the BC renovations, they will start on the fifth floor lounge. The lounge will be relocated to the Presidential Suite. When the lounge is done, they will start probably on the Presidential Suite and that wing of rooms. Then continue one section at a time until the fifth floor is done. Then they go to the fourth floor, etc.

But, but, but WHERE WILL BUZZY STAY???????

Oh, that's right... next to the Oreo bon bon's!

Please consider taking a taxi cab to the Super Wal Mart located at Vineland Road (SR535) about 9.6 kilometers away away.

The address to tell the cab driver is: 3250 Vineland Road Kissimmee, FL 34746 Phone number for the Walmart is (407) 397-1125

When you are done shopping you can call a taxi to come and pick you up from the Walmart. The phone number for the Disney approved Mears taxi is
1 407 422 2222

I did this on my last trip and it worked out great! I caught a taxi from the resort and it was about a 15 minute ride and going to the Wal Mart it was approximately $20 dollars (US currency) (15.5 euros)

Coming back it was approximately another 15.5 Euros. I called the Taxi to come pick me up from the Walmart to take me back to the resort and it only took the Taxi about 10 minutes to come back to the Walmart and then around another 15 minutes to take me back to the hotel.

At this Wal Mart they have many different food items, Fruit, Wine and beer and a Disney section with clothes and some toys. They also have shoes, sunscreen, medicines and toiletries. Really, they have just about anything you would need. This means MUCH more than a supermarket that would just sell food. Walmart is more like an American department store and the prices are low so you get a great value for every Euro you spend.

Bonne chance et avoir de très bonnes vacances!!!

After flying all night, with very little sleep, we arrived early into Orlando and we were at our resort by noon. We had an awesome first day with a nice boat ride to Downtown Disney, a fabulous lunch at Earl of Sandwich, pool time and a nice dinner in the POR food court. It is almost 9:00 and we are ready for some sleep. Early MK day tomorrow. So excited!! Definitely going to stop by the BC this week to get an early fix before our stay there later this trip.

Maybe I'll see you tomorrow?

It does not give the choice of adjoining rooms on the online checkin that is the problem. I will call in tomorrow and ask the cm. thanks for the response.

That's a great idea. Make sure they show the adjoining room request on your reservation. Then personally I would not do an on-line check-in. Since you really want the adjoining room, I'd rather go up to the regular check-in desk and before they start the check-in process, ask them if your rooms are adjoining. If they are not, tell them you really would like them adjoining and if none are available today, then perhaps they could set you up for a room change the next day to adjoining rooms. If you do an on-line check-in, your rooms are assigned ahead of time and the keys and check-in is already done ... all you do is pick them up and go. Just a suggestion.

Ok, I'm jumping back in! I have been SO busy I couldn't keep up with the thread, but the time is getting so short now that I can barely believe it. My kids found out about the "surprise" trip to Toronto (which was planned ages before this one) but have no clue at all about this trip. My love of Disney stuff is well known, so they don't think twice about me having SAB as my screensaver, etc.

For those who don't know, if I can pull off the surprise right to the YC lobby, it will be a miracle. We are traveling with friends who have kids that are our kids' BFFs. Neither set of kids have any idea that this is even in our minds, let alone actually happening! I had planned my DD to travel out west to spend a week with my sister on August 10th. I've arranged it so that we fly into Toronto an hour before her flight arrives, and then the plan is to tell her and DS that no, we aren't staying in Toronto right now, we are getting on a flight to Orlando! We arrive at 11:30 pm so we are crashing at Pop for the night. The other family arrives at lunchtime the next day, and we have plans to have them meet up in the lobby of the YC. If we can pull it off, neither set of kids will know that the other is going to be there. If I can pull this off, it will be one for the record books. I overheard my DD tell her other friend that her ultimate vacation of ALL TIME would be to go to Disney with this friend, but that it won't ever happen. Well, yes it will. In 42 days it WILL! I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it. The kids have been SO good this year - my DD has been so conscientious with her schoolwork, and my DS (who was diagnosed with a serious reading and written output disorder last year) has been working so hard with his tutor... He went from reading and writing at an early grade one level in September of this year to being at a grade 5 level by the end of the year! He also has been so good about going to tutoring all summer, and he should be caught up with his schoolmates by the end of the summer. I am so incredibly lucky that this all fell into place for us to be able to do this! I will enjoy watching them have fun as much as I will enjoy having fun myself!!!

Dee, I think I'm booked in YC CL SV (but honestly, I don't know! It's been a whirlwind!) I wish we could have booked BC, which is where my heart is, but the RO discount had no BC rooms and it saved us about $1,000! The other family has the dining plan but it was the same last year and we still felt good about our choice to skip it. We have our ADRs done: Via Napoli, Yachtsman, Chefs de France, Tusker House, Captain's Grill, Coral Reef and last night the 5 pm reservation at Whispering Canyon Cafe so we can head on the boat to MK for last night Wishes (or ride rides during Wishes if we've already seen it. LOL). The other mom was a little nervous, asking me if I was OK getting up early for RD, and seemed a little concerned about my afternoon break plans. Should be a bit different from last year! I think this time our touring strategies will mesh better. Not sure in the heat if we can keep up with them, but that's the glory of staying onsite - room and pool await all who want to grab a bus. LOL

Sorry for the long post, just had to get that out there! I'm ready to bust. Can't post a ticker, never know what prying eyes might catch sight of it!! :)

That is going to be an awesome surprise!! I can't wait to read your trip report. They are all going to be so excited. I'm excited and I don't even know you. Lol. :-)

So Glad to hear all of this! ::yes:: It's even more awesome that the kids are working so hard and making such wonderful strides. There is something to be said for those that know the rewards of hard work.... it will take them where ever they want to go and your two are going to go far!

Here are some complimentary dancing emoticons to help celebrate the excitement of your upcoming trip!

Ok, I quickly swept the thread pages 226-236. If I missed welcoming you or if I missed a question that wasn't answered, please bump your post.

Dee yes the 20th is the day we will be doing the EMH at DHS!!

I do hope that the issue that the one BC Diser had last week at the boat dock was a fluke!!!

My plan is to be at the dock around 7:00, and since it's our first full day there I think we will all be super excited and energetic enough to make that happen :lmao:

Dang! I'm not sure that we will be out at the boat dock quite that early, probably more like 7:30. We have the fireworks dessert party the night before then if we are up to it we are going to stay at MK until scheduled close, which is 11.

Let's text that day to see if we are in the same area of HS in the morning.

:goodvibes

Checking into Beach Club on Monday for a one night stay after 5 at POFQ!! We're looking forward to using the pool and the quick walk to Epcot!!

:welcome: back!!! I'll put you on the Be Our Guest list. For tomorrow, July 8 or next week, July 15?

:cool1:

Hey Dee - now only 19 pages until a new thread is needed! :)

Even more exciting is only a week left on your countdown! You definitely deserve this special guy! >>> :dancer:

Here's a YC related question. According to post #9, there are only 2 deluxe CL rooms?? Has anyone ever stayed in these? I've seen the photos on the WDW website but I'm curious as to anyone's experience who has stayed in one.

Gonna be a new thread soon!!!

Bumping your question.

I would LOVE to have photos of the Deluxe CL rooms at the YC so I can add them to the YC Suites thread.

:thumbsup2

As far as the Fantasmic Dinner Package goes......the special entrance for the package is at the front if the park between the gas station and the public restrooms. There is a wooden gate that is closed and unmanned until about 30-40 minutes before the show. After that you can show your ticket to the CM standing there and they will let you in. If you attempt to go in the regular entrance you are told to get in the regular line but can still sit in the reserved area. The problem with that is that they start letting anyone sit there 5-10 minutes before the show so it could fill up if there are a lot of people in the regular line.

Good to know. I think at one point I heard they discontinued the special entrance and had the people with packages having to wait in the very long line with everyone else. People were not happy, so sounds like they reopened special entrance. We haven't done the Fantasmic Package in a long time.

Dee yay!! :yay::yay::yay:

So they have moved the entrance back to Oscar's garage for diners with the Fantasmic packages? That's great news (except for the people who are NOT told where to go)

:worried:

Starting to think about all the things I need to get for our trip in August. Just wondering if my 4 year old is allowed to use water wings in the pool or do I have to get her one of the life jackets they have there. Also, is there a height requirement for the slide there? TIA for the info....

It is up to the lifeguards, but I think they would let her use the water wings. If they are the blowup kind, then you should bring them along and worse case is that you are told no and have to use the life jackets.

I don't think there is a height requirement. The rules sign for the slide recommends that people using the slide be strong swimmers, but reports are that they do let kids go on the slide with floatation devices like lifejackets.

:)

Wait........what ? I didnt hear anything about the CL lounge getting refurbed at BC. When is this going to take place ?
We will be at BC in a few weeks, staying in a deluxe CL room :goodvibes , and I am hoping that the CL will not be under construction ????
Does anyone have any details on this ?

Thanks !

Not imminent. You are safe. For now.

ETA: :welcome: back! I don't think you have posted here lately.

:cool1:

I forgot to say that I would add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

My silly children have decided they want POP rather than BC this year. :scared1:

So, we will only visit BC this year and I will look forward to planning a BC trip in the future when the 3rd Spawn is old enough that we aren't allowed to stay at POP!!!

Boo-hoo!!!

But you'll be back!!!

::yes::

I prefer the décor of the BC too, but I would have absolutely no qualms about staying at the YC especially if it saved me $1,000!!!

Sorry! No special prizes :sad1:

Just an opportunity to be listed with others who will be vacationing at the YC/BC/BCV at the same time as you:

Post 15: Be Our Guest list

If you have pictures of the room, I would LOVE it if you could post them here.

Or here:

Beach Club Deluxe, Suites, VP and Presidential Rooms

I don't have any pictures of 4557 on this thread.

Thanks!

Amazing!!!! Can't wait to hear all about this!!!! So fun :) :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes
