Day 22 – Hollywood Studios & Ohana’s

Arriving at Hollywood Studios at around 8:30 we were met with an enormous queue at bag check. The line moved quite quickly, however it was turmoil at the turnstiles, as there did not seem to be any defined lines. The benefit of this was that the park was declared open at around 8:50. Once inside, it was the usual plan of attack with Emma and Sue heading to TOT whilst I made my way to get TSM fast passes. The clock was showing 8:55 and TSM was already loading. Heading back to TOT, I found Sue and Emma near to the front of the queue, however for some reason we did not start loading till 9:15.

We managed to ride twice in succession and then Emma and myself joined the queues for RnRC. This moved quickly and soon it was all over.

Our fast pass window was active and so we headed back across to TSM. Again, the lines moved fast and we were riding within 10 minutes.

Since we had skipped breakfast we decided to give ABC Commissary a try, since we had never eaten here before.

Nigel: Fresh Angus Cheeseburger with fried Shrimp + Fries – Strawberry Parfait – Diet Coke.
Sue: Seafood Platter with Fries – Strawberry Parfait – Orange Juice.
Emma: Chicken Blue with Fries – Chocolate Mousse – Diet Coke.

The food was good and the building was well laid out and spacious.

Indiana Jones was due to start soon so we headed in that direction, however once inside it was standing room only and so we decided to give it a miss. We then decided to ride Star Tours and managed to get another different ride experience. I think this is a good idea, having random scenes for each loading. The Muppets was our next stop and I must admit that this is starting to look a little dated, however it was a nice welcomed sit down.

American Idol had just started loading the theatre, and since we had missed the pre-show hype, we made our way inside. The only memorable thing about this show was that the contestant from the UK was embarrassingly poor! As we left the show, the rain was falling quite heavily and so we decided to give Indiana Jones another visit. We had good seats quite near the front to the right of the stage, however due to the on-going storm, ten minutes into the show, it was cancelled for safety reasons. As we were in no rush, we decided to stay put and watch the stage being reset for the next show.

We decided to call it a day and made our way to the park exit via the shops, also grabbing a few photopass pics along the way.

The parade had started a little early, probably due to the bad weather, and so we decided to watch from near Crossroads.

Catching the tram back to the parking lot, we made our way back to OKW.

Continued in next post......

Our ADR tonight was a mass gathering at the Polynesian resort, with a visit to Ohana’s.

Washed, showered and changed, we met up with Martin, Wendy and family and drove over to the Polynesian, arriving at around 6:30. Once inside, we all collected and donned our Hawaiian leis before meeting up with Margaret, Geoff and family. As soon as we checked in, we were handed a pager and then we decided to have some group photographs together in the lobby.

Soon our pager lit up and we were shown to a huge table in the centre of the room. Since was my first visit, I was not sure what to expect, however I was not to be disappointed. The food offerings were both varied and very tasty. It consisted of salad bowl, bread, chicken, steak, pork, shrimp, dumplings and an assortment of vegetables.

I must confess to over indulging on the shrimp!

The dessert was bread pudding a la mode with Banana Foster sauce.

During the evening, Geoff kindly bought the ladies a Lapu Lapu each.

Suitably stuffed, we left the restaurant.

The younger members of the group headed off to Margaret and Geoff’s room, whilst us adults wandered over to the beach and watched Wishes. This was most enjoyable, a lovely warm evening in great surroundings watching a stunning firework spectacular and listening to the piped music – PRICELESS!!! :cloud9:
After the show was over, we made our way back to join the others in the room. Here we chatted away with each other and finally headed back to OKW at around 11:30.

Coming up next – Florida Mall – Yak n Yeti
